Don Papa Rum Sevillana Cask Finish
Opinion really splits here — some call it the best Don Papa they've had, others the weakest, and one taster hated it outright. What most agree on: bright orange and orange-peel notes, dried fruit and a wine-cask edge over vanilla. At 40% the alcohol sits a touch rough and a bit out of balance, with a faintly bitter finish. Pairs nicely with dessert.

How does Don Papa Rum Sevillana Cask Finish taste?
Aggregated from 33 community reviews.
Fruity orange wine-cask Don Papa, polarizing Divisive. Fans love the fruity orange-and-wine profile; others find it thin, slightly hot and unbalanced for the young spirit underneath. Reads drier than the usual Don Papa.

Review by Felix Reiber
Tasting of the first or original bottling of the D.P. Sevillana cask (1st batch). Wonderfully fruity nose with beautiful orange notes, dried fruit and a good influence from the wine cask. The palate delivers what the nose promises. The Spanish Seville is well pronounced and starts with a slightly dry woodiness, which then leads into great wine notes. Almost simultaneously, an ingenious, honey-like sweetness resonates and merges into wine and orange peel. Then, towards the end, spicy, woody tones and some tobacco and leather, which is due to the influence of the cask. The medium-long finish is again characterized by dried fruit, wood, tobacco and wine, closely followed by spicy barrel notes. It's a real shame that this bottle (sealed) has become so expensive. In addition, the second bottling cannot even begin to keep up with the old bottling.

For this drain cleaner, even the one point is too much and the work to enter here Tastingnozes would only cost lifetime. This was tonight the low point of all spirits ever drunk by me.

0 gramme de sucre, c’est cool ! On est sur des notes de noix et d’orange. Assez étonné de voir que Don Papa se met à faire de « vrais » rhums.

I had it with a Creme Brûlée and I enjoyed it. The best DP I had by far.
Review by Daniel
Fine nuances of the two sherry and orange wine finishes can be smelled. A relatively sharp appearance on the palate before the fruit flavors develop. The short storage time of the individual components is noticeable here. The finish is then slightly bitter. The limited special edition as a collector's item is the only reason why I would buy this bottle again. Too expensive for what's in the glass.

Another one that I'd use as a mixer. Out of balance in my mind.
