The smell is very strong, very spicy, roasted aromas, dark chocolate - extremely pleasant. A taste of coffee, dark chocolate, alcoholic burn, spices, oily finish.A very pleasant Navy rum.

For me, this is the weakest of the four that Lot-NAS has split. I don't like it pure at all. In my opinion, it doesn't really work that well in the CubaLibre either. I think there are better things for the money, both pure and as a mixer

Very cool dark color😎 It‘s a nice daily driver with some lovely notes of the barrel, dried fruits and dark chocolate, some hidden notes of licorice, prunes and cinnamon. In addition i found a bitter note, which I couldn‘t assign. The alcohol is integrated very well. Allez les bleus🤪

Tasted a glass of this navy rum at Irish Annie’s in Nerja, Spain. The recipe of the rum is said to be the same as when it was created in 1887. It’s a blend of three different Guyana Demerara rums. The nose is woody, spicy, round, roasted and a little sweet with aromas of molasses, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate and licorice. At the palate it’s roasted, round, spicy, woody, smoky and a little bitter with flavors of molasses, coffee, dark chocolate and burnt sugar. The finish is medium long with the flavors persisting together with oak, vanilla and licorice.

At the Rum House in Praha. Have noticed that I am not online and here there is no WiFi. Could not save my impressions therefore. So now from memory, which is not difficult no Woods:Insanely dark it is. Neatly colored with sugar cuoleur, that is also to smell and taste (even though it should not 😉)Nose: very dark, spicy, molasses and malty-woody. Clearly dark chocolate and lots of licorice, plus slightly burnt caramel. I don't find it bad at all, seems oldschool somehow. 7.5 Palate: the nose impression continued here. Dark-roasty, malty-woody, lots of molasses, slightly bitter and dark chocolate and licorice to boot. Simple, but effective. Totally ok. 7.6.Matched the evening very well ☺️

Very powerful, heavy and oily, ''Wood's Old Navy Rum'' offers an ideal introduction to the dark, unsweetened world of Guyana rums. Of course, it cannot hide its youth due to the metallic-alcoholic undertones and there is also a certain bitterness, but I still find the mixture of molasses, toffee, liquorice and tart herbal candy quite impressive, especially due to the low price level.

Typical dark, malty profile of colored navy rums. But for that - and in the price segment - actually not bad. Certainly good as a grog but also drinkable on its own.

It is full-bodied and sweet/melty with hints of woody and spicy, licorice, dark leather and 100% dark chocolate in a lingering finish where some plum and toastiness can also be heard. The abv is poorly integrated though, too much alcohol can be felt. Great in a rum and cola

A great value rum, perfect for adding a dark Guyanese depth to cocktails! Less ideal for sipping. The entire profile from aroma to aftertaste is dominated by dark, bitter, woody and roasted notes. There are some dried fruits and slight acitidy present on the nose and palate, but they play a subordinate role and disappear quite quickly. Alcohol integration is poor. There is an "artificial" lingering bitterness throughout the palate that undoubtedly tells me that there has been pre-cask burnt caramel added to the rum. The aftertaste is dominated by this bitterness alongside wood and roasted flavors. My bottle is almost empty, and I think it would be a great start to an infinity bottle, providing a deep demerara base.

The first thing that’s obvious is just how dark in colour this is! Obviously heavy colouring. This doesn’t bode well. However, despite my reservations to date this rum is pretty reasonable. On the nose, caramel, crème brûlée, leather, raisin, licorice. On the palate, caramel, cappuccino, dark chocolate and cardamom. Licorice and molasses on the finish.
