Flor de Caña 4 Años Extra Seco
Cocktail-makers reaching for a clean, dry base rum are the real audience here. Sipped neat it's thin, a bit hot, and members keep catching that solvent/glue note over light vanilla and sugarcane. But drop it in a daiquiri or a rum and coke and it turns "very light and easy to drink" — dry, zesty, and happy to sit back. A workhorse mixer more than a sipper.

How does Flor de Caña 4 Años Extra Seco taste?
Aggregated from 47 community reviews.
Dry, light column rum best for mixing Most tasters find it unremarkable neat — light body, noticeable alcohol and solvent. In cocktails opinions lift: dry and clean, though a couple say it barely comes through in a daiquiri.

All my Tastings and Scores are purely based on “Rums under £50”. I rarely look at Rums over £50 for my YouTube.

Unfortunately, both pure and in the daiquiri absolutely inconsequential ... Pure he tastes too much like solvent and in the daiquiri he just brings so little flavor and power that you could also drink equal lime sugar water on ice. I have not yet experienced that a rum in the daiquiri simply zero comes through. For me, therefore, an absolute failure of this product ...

#5663 13.09.2025 Getting ready for the tasting in Copenhagen tonight. Nose Fresh, fruity, faint smoke, light chocolate, vanilla, light floral, citrus. Palate Fresh, round, dry, light oily, light chocolate, light nutts, light vegegal, light mango, spice. Finish Medium long, dry, light bitter, fruits, citrus, spice. Empty glass Light floral, spice, lilght mango, light chocolate, faint varnish. My friend told me that this rum performs really well in a Daiquiri.

Unfortunately, almost no interest. Without being bad, it has little taste and smells vaguely of alcohol. Very good value for money, apparently only Havana is cheaper behind the bar. Light coconut, hint of alcohol, a little glue. Slight mineral and white chocolate notes > to be worked with citrus fruits, apparently. Notes from the masterclass.

Not as good as Havana Club in a daiquiri and not as good as Hamilton White Stache in the role it fills.

Co tu dużo mówić, degustacyjnie nie jest zaskakujący ale za to w koktajlach robi dobrą robotę. Zapach: alkohol, wanilia, płatki kokosowe, fistaszki, suszone owoce, rozpuszczalnik Smak: Wanilia, trzcina, suszone owoce, orzechy, ciemna czekolada, alkohol, opiekany, gorzki (ta gorzkość w przypadku daiquiri i innych koktajlach finalnie nie występuje) Finisz: gorzki

Very similar to 5 year, very light and easy to drink. Excellent in cocktails.

Interesting nose. The alcohol is too pronounced for my taste.

On the nose, it's a delight: round, soft, sweet. But on the palate, I find it surprisingly powerful, spicy, almost peppery. I like it very much.

Neutral enough as a mixer to work well with other rums. I wouldn't drink it on it's own.

Really nice and smooth. Tried it with tiki cocktails and it didn't overpowered the drink. Nice sweet taste but a bit like alcohol in taste when neat. Very recommended.
