Saint James Rhum Saint James
Agricole drinkers who love old wood and weird complexity will click with this vintage Saint James. The nose plays tricks — cocktail cherry, varnished old oak, dried herbs and a faint metallic, almost soapy edge. On the palate it's herbal and spicy with grape and red-wine notes, surprisingly full for 47%. A few find the oak too dominant; most are just fascinated an old bottling this gentle carries so much.

Aggregated from 16 community reviews.
Old-wood agricole with a cherry-and-herb twist Highly rated by agricole fans who enjoy its cherry-and-old-wood oddity. The two recurring gripes: some want a touch more strength, and one or two hit a soapy note.

Impressive St James. All very typical. Thin nose that doesn't give much away. But then the full range on the palate. The fact that this old bottling with so few % has so much flavor is really fascinating.

Tasting at Dr. Django On the nose, this Saint James reminds me of a cognac. Somehow soapy and perfumed. On the palate, it is still quite present for its age with a pleasant spiciness. It is also light and smooth. The finish is relatively short

Undoubtedly a very good rum. Concentrated and multi-layered Agricole. Notes of red wine or port, light bitter notes of zest, perfumed tobacco. Overall, however, the wood is too present and engaging in the mouth. The finish is tasty and long.

A beautiful Saint James here. The nose is very toasty. Wood is quite recognizable here, it also smells spicy and like grapes. The palate is also toasty, with a strong herbal flavor and wood. Delicious.

Intense and round nose: old Agricole, woody but not unpleasant, sweet, pickled dark cherry and ripe blackberry with red grape. There are also artificial aromas, somewhat reminiscent of glue and polish. Also reminds me of a good port wine. Palate: despite only 47% - which is more than usual for Agricole - it is still sufficiently intense. Woody, spicy and slightly salty. Sliced branches, and again this artificial component, like polish with something metallic. Grapey and berry, like strong red wine. Typical grassy finish and branches with a hint of grape. Classic St.J profile, sufficiently intense but a little too weak for me...

Really strong. So far the best Agricole I've had the pleasure of tasting. Perhaps a few percent more would do it good, but it's incredibly smooth and yet complex. A great blend of fruit and spicy notes, great!
