This 28-year Enmore from The Rum Cask leans woody and licorice-heavy, with dried plum, leather and dark fruit, an oily body and a bitter, coffee-tinged finish. Several tasters were surprised how sweet and fruity it reads for its age. Give it plenty of time in the glass — the aromas need it to open.

Despite identical rating but again clearly different from the 32-year-old sister barrel. Here, some aroma strands are still present in a little more force, which gives the rum more balance and occasionally reminds of the minerality of old Versailles. This is somewhat at the expense of the heavy Demerara sweetness, which is not able to trump up in the absolute finesse. Still very good.

This rum was a very nice surprise and I got one for my collection right away. The nose is very fruity with spices and in the back i can find leather and nice wood. The palate is well balanced, intense and slightly bitter with fruits and spices. There is a nice peppery spiciness here and in the back a tiny bit of earthyness. The finish is long and slightly bitter with roasted oak and a tad of coffee.

On the nose, it could almost pass for a Rev. Prunes, licorice, molasses, wood, tobacco, leather and a light herbal note. Nicely oily in the mouth with plenty of licorice and leather, slightly bitter. Very balanced and easy to drink thanks to the low ABV. Great bottling!

Unerwartet süß und fruchtig für einen alten Enmore, Holz tritt zurück. Später gesalzener Speck, im Abgang bittere Töne. Spannende Geschmacksbombe, leichte Abzüge wegen nicht perfekt integriertem Alkohol.

Für einen so alten Enmore unerwartet süß und fruchtig im Geschmack aber auch schon in der Nase. Das Holz ist zwar da, wird aber von einer sehr kräftigen Fruchtnote etwas in den Hintergrund gedrängt. Zur süßen Note kommt später gesalzener Speck und im Abgang dann eher bittere Noten. Insgesamt spannend aber gibt deutlich bessere Guyanas.

Leichte Abzüge gibt es in der B Note weil der Alkohol nicht ganz so perfekt integriert ist wie man sich das wünschen würde.

Wow, intensiv würzig-fruchtig in der Nase. Wiederkam die getrocknete und geschwefelte Aprikose vorne. Dahinter aber süße Kirsche. Aromatisch-holzig mit Leder und etwas leicht karamelliges. Gefällt mir gut. Kräftig am Gaumen. Bitter und gleich Lakritz. Würzig-holzig hinterher. Er wirkt auch etwas dumpf-erdig. Leicht pfeffrig mit Muskat. Im Abgang bleibt etwas Lakritz und etwas bitterer Tee. Sehr schöner, alter Enmore.

2. Versuch. Immer noch viel Holz. Heute kamen aber auch Früchte durch. In der Nase hatte ich heute etwas röstiges wie Kaffee. Hier passt dann auch die am Gaumen bleibende Bitterkeit.

Dieser MEC besitzt einen wirklich großartigen Geruch. Das subtil fleischig-schweflige Destillat bringt einen spannenden Unterton zu den typischen Aromen der dunklen Demerara-Rums. Geschmacklich gibt es nach 28 Jahren im Fass erwartungsgemäß viel Eiche, aber auch die getrockneten Früchte, Gewürze, Schokolade und Lakritze kommen nicht zu kurz. Das sanfte Finish fällt dabei jedoch überraschend kurz und dünn aus. Da hätte ich mir schon mehr erwartet, ist aber nicht so schlimm, denn das führt nur dazu, dass ich mich umso schneller wieder dem herausragenden Duft widmen kann.

Nase: Alkohol ordentlich an der Nase wahrzunehmen.dunkle Früchte überwiegen. Gaumen: deutlich pfeffrig und stark zu Beginn, dann warme Kakao und Kaffeearomen von kräftiger Ausprägung. Dazu dunkle Früchte und Lakritz sowie Holz. Abgang: langanhaltend, bitter und holzig. Deutliche Kaffee- und Tabaknoten. Fazit: stärker als der S.B.S 1988 an Nase und Gaumen, aber sehr ähnlich.

Wunderschöner runder Enmore, dem man allerdings sehr viel Standzeit geben sollte, damit sich die Aromen öffnen. Belohnt wird man mit dunklen Noten, insbesondere getrockneter Pflaume. Der Holzeinfluss ist trotz langer Lagerung nicht zu dominant, die Bitternote ergänzt hier hervorragend. Lediglich im Körper fehlt dem Rum hier etwas Fülle, daher nicht ganz Spitzenliga.
