Habitation Velier Worthy Park WPL 2007
Most tasters land in the mid-8s and call this a very good Worthy Park: overripe banana, pineapple, glue and vanilla up front, then a spicy, woody, faintly salty-olive side. A few find it lighter with a short finish, and one or two say it turns too dry and tobacco-heavy. The 59% is well hidden. Tropical aging gave it a huge 64% angel's share.

How does Habitation Velier Worthy Park WPL 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 157 community reviews.
Rounded low-ester Jamaican, banana and spice Widely liked as a rounded, low-ester Jamaican — banana, spice and gentle funk with the alcohol tucked in. The catch: the finish runs a bit short, and a few find it dry or plain.

Like the 2006 Forsyths it does not disappoint expectations. Compared to its predecessor this has more presence of ester/solvent notes and seems less toasty...by a little. On the pineapple finish. A very satisfying tasting rum that I would never stop drinking.

Standard rum, not bad, not great. Just average, no extraordinary part of taste

Awesome low ester rum. Now i have this bottle for a year and I can‘t stop drinking. The alcohol is integrated very well. This is a very amazing rum by Luca. Nose: Funky, trop. fruits, banana, pineapple, dried figs, dried apricot, orange, polish, glue, ester, woody, honey Mouth: Funky, dry, delicious, balanced, Ester, polish, banana, pineapple, coconut, woody, oak, roasted nuts Finish: Long, Balanced, delicious, trop fruits, dried fruits, leather, oak, mocha, toasted, honey

After some time, when I have finished the bottle, I return to retasting thanks to the cast sample. I just can't help myself with this rum and I consider it to be perhaps the best I've had from Worthy Park. Perhaps only Quatre Vins has impressed me to the same degree. I kinda regret not having another bottle. Edit: the last drop I had poured. It's still a great Worthy Park for me

A great Jamaica Rum! In the nose solvent, lots of fruit, warm, very complex. Horny! 😄In the mouth fat, very, very complex. Ester, fruit, warm.Since I will get me a bottle!
Review by TheRhumhoe
A beautiful Worthy Park with a diverse, well-balanced profile. The nose opens with tropical fruits, then esters, solvents and glue, before giving way to spices, wood and chocolate. Complementing tobacco and a roasted sensation, beautiful pastry notes also appear, with caramel, toffee, marzipan, burnt sugar and buttery aromas. A deep, greedy, warm nose: very promising. The attack on the palate is lively and spicy, a little harder than the nose suggests. Banana, pineapple and citrus quickly fade before giving way to warm, spicy, woody, leathery and tobacco notes. The integration of alcohol could be improved. The rum here is rougher and rougher, and needs a little rest. The finish is of medium length, with a fleeting hint of exotic fruits and dried fruits. Dry, warm and somewhat bitter, the palate is overwhelmed by spices (chili, pepper, aniseed and licorice), dark chocolate, leather, wood (cask), tobacco and smoky notes. A saline touch is also perceptible. Compared with the 2006 vintage, the nose is more savory, but the attack on the palate is more aggressive and less controlled. The finish leaves a similar impression. All in all, a fine bottling from Velier.

Blindtasting Worthy Park with: HV WPL (RX272) HV WPM (RX1089) Schotman (RX17173) Wolfgang Klotz (RX21848) TWJ (RX14182) 3rd place (8.4): TWJ. The nose is quite closed and ends up being a bit unbalanced on both the nose and the palate. Slightly bitter on the palate and also on the finish. 2nd place (8.6): HV WPL + WK Spirits. The WK has more wood and spices overall and, with plenty of time in the glass, also more fruity aromas. The HV WPL also needs a little time in the glass, but then has a beautifully complex nose. On the palate, alongside trop. Fruits on the palate as well as subtle glue and esters. 1st place (8.7): HV WPM + Schotman. The Schotman is probably the most rounded WP in crosstasting with a nice peach note. The WPM stands out somewhat with its smoky aromas and licorice. WP has been under my radar so far, wrongly so. I am really positively surprised and will probably have a WP in my glass more often in the future :)

Another wonderful rum from Habitation and typical Jamaican. The nose starts off funky from opening the bottle. Once rested for 15 minutes you're going to be welcomed by a very fruity nose with vanilla and a tad of polish/varnish. In the back there is a bit of wood. The palate is also setting off funky and fruity with a spicy peppery touch. In the background I get olive, tobacco and wonderful oak. The finish is long and pepper spicy with fruits and oak.

Alkohol perfekt eingebunden!
Review by Christoph
On the nose, the Worthy Park fruit basket remains in the background and is overlaid by nut, toast and chocolate. On the palate, it then turns a bit towards the typical WP fruit basket while remaining very spicy. Ester remains at the bottom. The finish is a bit salty with pepper and mocha.

Quick sampling of a sample base with a buddy. Great worthy park profile so banana pastry all the way.
Review by Giuseppe Ambrosio
It makes itself drinkable and is very pleasant. Tasted again after some time. Nice color, excellent nose as well as palate and above all very drinkable somewhat like Capovilla's fruit distillates. Compared to the WPM mark I find it slightly less spritzy. (PS: the rating, like impressions, are purely personal)
Review by Tschusikowsky
Tropical aging is something beautiful. In the nose a lot of fruit. Palate does not quite deliver what the nose promises. Woodier and spicier. Slightly salty on the finish. Great.
Review by Cinci
Very nice bottling from Worthy Park, unfortunately becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Very classic on the nose, tropical fruits and esters rise up. On the palate I was positively surprised by the olive note, otherwise familiar funky esters and tropical fruits.
Review by Mike H.
Worthy Park is my least favorite Jamaican distillery. The rums I’ve tasted so far are nice but not mind blowing and this one is not different. Classic banana, pineapple with a little ester and wood both in nose and taste.
Review by Rumpalumpa
Review by Serge
Delicious Worthy Park with nuts and dried figs over the typical low ester profile with banana, plantain, and honey. There is also some tropical fruit. I like it. For me, it wins against the 2006 WPM tasted in parallel. Somewhat finer and the more pleasant Liw ester mouthfeel.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
gigantic fruity nose, unfortunately tasted then rather tobacco, very dry, very woody and a lot of spices and rather little of the fruit you hope on the nose. in addition bitter and salty and overall me too woody and bitter.worthy park is just not mine I have the impression...🙈

Excellent Worthy Park!

A solid fruit bomb, a bit lighter, but definitely drinkable. Fragrant Jamaica with some esters, some spicier notes and tobacco in the taste. Very decent value for money, recommend to try and buy while it's available.
Review by ElReyTristan
Beautiful delicacy in the nose with smells of marzipan dessert that we find in mouth. We also find always present a banana well ripe limit flambé. The whole is rather round and warm but no trace of residual sugar. It's rather pleasant and less of an ass-kicking than Hampden, maybe easier to match with a cigar. I'm not sure to put its current price though...

Review by Andi
Beautiful Jamaican, fruity, spicy with some wood.
Review by Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪
Balanced nose typical of WP: ripe bananas/vanilla/chocolate. Rich, warm and inviting! Clean, pleasant palate: caramel/coconut/Jamaican funk/orange peel. The finish is rather successful, with lovely wood, chocolate and a touch of olive. A fine single cask that represents the world of WP. This is a rum with an intense, rich taste. It lacks craziness, but sometimes it's nice to have something more conventional... And good news, I still have a bottle lying around in my cellar ...

Sweet caramel in the nose. Not so funky as a Hampden, but more rounded and mellow - almost like a Burbon. Nice warm and long finish. Very good

lighter style but very drinkable

I did a quasi blindtaste with three WP rums: Rum Runner 2006 54,5%. Hab. Velier 2007 59% WPL. OB Conquete 2005 53% WPL. I knew I liked the Velier so I wanted to test it against similar rums. This will be the first round, I’m interested in knowing which is the WP in my collection I like the most. C: Dark gold. N: Appels, especially red one and peaches mixed with petrol fumes. A coastal saltiness lurking in the background. It’s kind of mean but sweet at the same time. I like that! M: Here is were we thanks Velier. Peaches, lime and of course red apples. Spices too, making this a proper rum. F: Short with some white pepper. Water: Lighter and sharper. Better without! Buy: Yes! Stopp looking for expensive rums. There are still some amazing ones for the right price. Like this one!

Suprisingly balanced rum at high abv. Fruit driven smell with rich spiciness and some funk. The palate is well balanced, it’s hard to believe that the ABV is 59. Kind tropical fruits with sweet and peppery spiciness. The aftertaste is long and paralell with the palate. I could miss some more funk, but for me it is a great rum.

Day 22 Sample de Luxe Calendar: Very tasty Worthy Park doesn't come close to HV's 2006. Overall a little lighter overall profile not as much spice.
Review by Arnaud Faverjon
Very nice Worthy Park, nice profile all in balance, we come back easily on it, but nice length, I like it a lot!
Review by Renato Molo
Nice product although I honestly preferred the 2006 WP 12 year which I found more complete and engaging.
Review by Alan Bertoli
Davvero sorprendente, complesso e ricco. Super!

Too dry... It lacks finesse for me. I've known better nectars from WP

Truly remarkable this Worthy Park!

Review by Michael Grünfelder
Very well balanced rum. Slightly pissy and aggressive as you know it from Habitation Velier. Very nice product.

Explosive! What a great example of the WPL Marque. The word integration is amazing. I feel like this from really showcases. The walnut forward Worthy Park profile. This is an exceptional room. Pick one up if you can, I know I will be looking for another bottle.

Possibly my favorite rum I’ve tried yet, certainly my favorite aged lower-ester Jamaican. Especially fun stumbling on a few bottles in 2024 covered in dust in downtown Portland, Oregon at a price lower than MSRP. Perfectly balanced Worthy Park with classic chocolate sauce covered banana splits. Not too sweet, sour, spicy, or tannic.
Review by Mammutti
Strong solvents, banana and spice on the nose. Mouth is similar with added tropical fruits and bitter spice, heavy on the alcohol. Finish changes it completely: bitterness of alcohol and spice move in the background, replaced with mellow smooth banana caramel that lasts in the breath for a long time. Absolutely delicious.
Review by Amit Bentabou
Smells like an old scotch whisky, id say Imperial Distillery. Malt, tropical fruit, candy shop. Just amazing rum, love it. Would have to put my hands on a bottle...

23.5.2024 the smell of flambéed bananas flavour-wise a complete bulldozer, it grinds and scrolls , on the tongue it is felt all over
Review by Robert M.
Relatively unobtrusive in the nose, but alcoholic, pleasing in the mouth, but with pepper. It's a shame that it disappears so quickly.
Review by Richard Krupa
Beautiful scent, the taste is very sharp for me After half a year I'm increasing from 55b to 65b. It's sharper, but good
