Velier Karukera Single Cask 2008
"One of the nicer Karukera 2008" a taster called it, and the pattern holds: a mild, elegant aged agricole with fresh sugarcane, banana, citrus and orange blossom on the nose, then a sweet-creamy palate that turns spicy — sandalwood, ginger, nutmeg, cocoa and tobacco. Finishes on grass and hay. A few felt the 53.4% turns a touch sharp late, which they say cost it real potential.
The community says- Elegant, delicate agricole
- Grass and wood balance

How does Velier Karukera Single Cask 2008 taste?
Aggregated from 18 community reviews.
Elegant aged agricole, grassy with a sharp finish Most call it a soft, well-balanced aged agricole with plenty of grass, wood and spice. The recurring gripe: a slightly sharp, alcoholic finish that undercuts the delicate flavors.

This one took some time for me to formulate my impression, mainly due to the fact that Agricoles are so different to the typical Rum I drink. It is very mild in some of the characteristics of aged Agricoles that I did not like so much in the past. Others mention sweetness (it's okay ish, not very sweet to me), sugarcane (again, not very developed sugarcane for me, at last if one has the sirupy sugarcane taste of unaged for comparison) and grass (I get hay, maybe similar). The Alcohol is very well integrated, the whole Rhum very well balanced.

A pretty solid release and the price matches what you get. Pretty good balance between the flavours in my mind.

Ein sehr angenehmer, weicher und typischer Agricole! Am Gaumen ein schönes Wechselspiel von Süsse, Holz, Espresso und pflanzlichen Aromen. Im Abgang dann klassische Gras- und Heuaromen! Sehr gut!
