"One of the nicer Karukera 2008" a taster called it, and the pattern holds: a mild, elegant aged agricole with fresh sugarcane, banana, citrus and orange blossom on the nose, then a sweet-creamy palate that turns spicy — sandalwood, ginger, nutmeg, cocoa and tobacco. Finishes on grass and hay. A few felt the 53.4% turns a touch sharp late, which they say cost it real potential.

Die Nase ist beim RX2711 hellfruchtiger, sonst beide eher ähnlich zurückhaltend. RX2711 hat mehr helle Früchte, der Alkohol ist mittelgut eingebunden. Stechend im Abgang. RX6221 gefällt mir deutlich besser. Hier ist der Alkohol gut eingebunden, mit einer deutlichen Holznote und mehr Kräutern. Insgesamt viel komplexer. Im Abgang wie sein Bruder grasig. Hatte beide wesentlich besser in Erinnerung. 80 Pkt. & 83 Pkt.

Toller Geruch nach mittelaltem Eichenholz. Im Geschmack recht kräftig trotz der nur 53%. Im Abgang eine tolle langanhaltende Süße vom Eichenfass. Schöner Guadeloupe der noch keine Dreckigkeit hat.

This one took some time for me to formulate my impression, mainly due to the fact that Agricoles are so different to the typical Rum I drink. It is very mild in some of the characteristics of aged Agricoles that I did not like so much in the past. Others mention sweetness (it's okay ish, not very sweet to me), sugarcane (again, not very developed sugarcane for me, at last if one has the sirupy sugarcane taste of unaged for comparison) and grass (I get hay, maybe similar). The Alcohol is very well integrated, the whole Rhum very well balanced.

A very pleasant, soft and typical Agricole! A beautiful interplay of sweetness, wood, espresso and herbal aromas on the palate. Classic grass and hay aromas on the finish! Very good!

Smell: Very clean, fresh and elegant. Smells of sugar cane with typical Agricole aromas. A little reserved at the beginning, needs time. Further aromas emerge - slightly sweet and fruity - especially banana. Vanilla and cinnamon, citrus fruits, lemon peel, candied fruit and orange blossom. Taste: Sweet and creamy in the mouth with aromas of sugar cane juice and Grafschafter Goldsaft. Pleasantly spicy on the swallow with aromas of wood - especially sandalwood, ginger, liquorice, nutmeg, cocoa and tobacco. Also cake batter, banana and candied fruit. Super tasty.
