Rum Nation DDL Demerara Rum Solera No. 14 2016
Sip it neat and you get dark chocolate, coffee and prunes wrapped in a sweet, syrupy body — several tasters call it "very sweet with coffee and chocolate." There's leather, licorice and a camphor-rubber edge too. One member found it too bitter and too heavy on caramel coloring to drink straight, and salvaged it in a rum sour instead.

How does Rum Nation DDL Demerara Rum Solera No. 14 2016 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Sweet, chocolate-coffee Demerara, best sipped slow Sweet, coffee-and-chocolate Demerara with leather and licorice. Most enjoy it, but a few find it too sugary or oddly bitter — and the PX/Oloroso finish barely shows.

27.9.2024 Cubana Bar Brno ve vůni mirne med a vanilka, káva, cokolada chuť medově pohladí už při napiti, později je cítit trošku kořenitá, zůstává dlouhá příjemná

Subtly bitter was announced. Unfortunately, this is not a background aroma; the rum comes to the fore with a strong bitterness. Not a rum for beginners. The chocolate aroma is slightly enhanced by the sweetness of prunes.

Here is a Rum Nation rum. I can drink it well, but there are definitely better ones from this brand. It tastes very sweet and like candy and candied fruit. Also very sweet on the nose. Still quite tasty

Nose: bright! Dark olive, chocolate, camphor, rubber, coffee, woody, prunes, old leather, brown sugar, licorice, herbs. First mind - to simple, but then, so deep & so many sides of aromas. Really good. Taste: Oh, sweet again ( cough medicine. Lot of dark chocolate, thyme, licorice, prunes, molasses, herbs, dark honey, little bit of eucalyptus & camphor. Aftertaste: Medium-long, bittersweet, with ethereal herbs, licorice, prunes & coffee. Conclusion: First mind - typical, simple dark rum. But then - so deep & multifaceted. Still sweet, still column & molasses, but it's really good sample for this type of rum. Very good.

Very nice stuff. A bit more leathery and tobako-burny-thingy

Very sweet with coffee and chocolate
Review by Werni
Tasted shortly before the end of the bottle, not drinkable on its own, quite pleasant in Rum Sour, in combination with a strong shot of Smith&Cross. Otherwise far too sweet, too much caramelized sugar, the alleged finish in PX and Oloroso is not really noticeable. Does not pass the tincture test 😀
