Enmore Flensburg Rum Company Guyana MEC 1992
Pencil shavings fried in coconut butter, fresh paint, prunes, cedar and burnt caramel — this 27-year Enmore from 1992 goes deep and dark rather than fruity. Coffee, cocoa, leather and tobacco pile up, and at 59.8% the alcohol sits surprisingly well. The recurring note is a caramel bitterness in the finish that most love and a few find borderline. Heavy, oily, unmistakably Demerara.
The community says- Deep Demerara character

Very good MEC with borderline bitterness in the finish. I like it better and better with time! Beautiful complexity!

The best dark Demerara I know. The dark caramel coloration is heavy on the rum: treacle, burnt sugar and charred barrel. Next to that is rum turned prunes with gravy, some coffee, cocoa and always a slight vegetalness in between that hits the mouth as lightly perfumed pipe tobacco and turns to eucalyptus on the finish. The alcohol is fantastically integrated. On the finish, the bitterness of the caramel is a bit too present for me, but otherwise close to Demerara perfection for my taste.

In the nose to fall in love - Guyana essence with great depth. On the palate and in the finish no longer quite at the same level, since a tick of complexity is missing for the very highest consecrations. In direct comparison with other Enmores from 1992, moreover, on the somewhat boisterous side, a bit more spicy-intense on the finish. Nevertheless, on a remarkable quality level.

One of my first rums that I was allowed to taste. Still really gets me. Nice
Review by Thunderbird
Oh yes, that's really good! From the palate to the finish a full taste experience! He offers exactly the flavor profile, which one expects at the age and mark! Also the barrel impact I think still well justifiable!Very tasty!

What a beautiful, intense nose. Spicy, old cedar or even better: ancient, resinous wood attic. Mocha with a bit of chocolate and a cream candy. Very brown and sweetish. And something artificial like soap and polish. Dried orange and raisin in addition. A wonderful spicy toasty wood note prevails on the palate as well, very dark, like cedar. Powerful and intense. Something dried, most likely prune. Tobacco, leather and wood acidity. Mocha itself on palate. In the finish leather tea, if's there would be...Find the just good!!! Even after the second time of tasting.

This is a wonderful color in the glass: dark reddish brown!Nose: Here announces a heavyweight: intense notes of dried plums, cedar and eucalyptus! No trace of alcoholic spiciness. Heavy and very intense on the palate. Less fruity, but slightly going into bitter-sweet: cocoa, coffee, licorice - the typical markers for old Guyana rums. But here in an excellent balance!Finish: bitter but not too bitter, very long, resin appears briefly. This is a rum where I can probably discover something new with ease at each tasting and such bottlings I love especially!

Review by The Rock
Einfach lecker.

This one is very similar to its older relative and I like this one as well. The nose is well balanced and intense with spices, dried fruit caramel /toffee and a hint of coffee and polish. The palate is intense and spicy with dried fruit and chocolate followed by roasted oak and tobacco. The finish is long and slightly bitter with a spicy and herbal touch.

Review by Nivius

Wow. Never had a Rum with this amount of malt and earth in the taste, impressive. It is very woody (did not check the age before tasting) and requires water and lots of air to open up and get a bit sweeter and fruity, even if it is not by much. I am not sure if the bitterness results from age or burnt Caramel. The Alcohol is present and bites a bit, but it's not bad. Lovely experience, but not for every day.

The Flensburger has the intensity that I missed in the Kill Devil. The alcohol is not ideally integrated. Overall, however, the Kill Devil wins the race because of its complexity.
Review by Mentalo

Rumy Enmore totiz maji prichut popelu, kuze, tezkeho dreva, coz nadchne zejmena milovniky nakourenych whisky. A pokud tradicnim Guyanskym zpusobem prida vyrobce do rumu trochu melasy, mate v lahvi unikatni velmi vyrazny a tezky rum. Jeden z mych oblibenych.

Read full review →Nose EHP with trumpets! What?! In terms of smell this is much closer to rums from the Enmore Coffey Still instead of the Versailles still. Meaning: Lots of pencil shavings, but fried in coconut butter and fresh paint, together with manioc, green bananas, yarrow, fresh cut sugarcane and earthy roots, creating a feverish jungle vibe (caution, we're not talking about a crazy and bright jamaican funkiness). It's not on a level with the legendary 60's or 70's Port Mourants, but one can receive an immersive impression of the deep and earthy darkness that only rums from Demerara can create. Mainly the ones that dripped out of the three only existing Greenheart wood stills. Palate Impressive how smooth and balanced it is, considering the high strength. So rounded, dark and herbal, with a strong but not predominant espresso and grain coffee bitterness. Some dried Prunes and dates and smokes anchovies are also part of the delegation. The body is super heavy (which brings us back to the Versailles single pot still) and tastes almost tropically matured. It's not really complex, but very oily and pointed. ғɪɴɪsʜ Ciao ragazza! We feel like we've had a long and satisfying visit to a cozy italian coffee shop, with cocoa, cantuccini and crushed coffee beans all over the place. We like that finish a lot!
