The Whisky Jury Hampden The Ester Hunter Catch 9 C<>H 2018

Nail-polish glue and canned pineapple lead, with citrus, green banana and a salty edge underneath — the classic Hampden C<>H picture. At 63.9% several members call it surprisingly mild, with an oily texture and a finish that opens up as it rests. Fans of the mark rate it an honest, everyday high-ester dram; a couple find it a touch young and flat at the back.

Once again a top-notch bottling from TWJ. I really like the young Jamaicans from this series. Here I think it's a C<>H with the typical marks. Already good neat, definitely great as a mixer too.

Still quite mild at 63.9. Slight burn on the nose and palate. Citrus, glue. High Ester Hampden. You get what you expect. Oily texture. Finish improves with resting. Becomes fresher and smokier. Compared to Ester Hunter Catch, a bit wilder. Today is a very warm day. Will try again at cooler temperatures. Overall a good Hampden. I have two bottles and that’s enough.

Hampden C<>H 2018–2026, 63.9% The Whisky Jury — The Ester Hunter Catch #9 After the previous apothecary-procedural feats, here you literally feel at home. The native haunts of high-ester madness, where everything is familiar, cozy, and resonates in the soul with warm memories. In the glass, we are greeted by a classic, exemplary still life: canned pineapples, astringent green bananas, and the freshest nail polish. For good measure, a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil were added on top, and the piquancy comes from a harsh salty note — a kind of hybrid of sea breeze and Moroccan-style salted lemons. As a result, we got an excellent, honest Hampden. A true Daily Dram — the perfect option for every evening to just relax. Though the very fact that we call the C<>H brand with a lively 63.9% ABV a "light everyday drink" hints that our bearings in life are a bit off. But who cares about such trifles when the rum is really good?

Very nice nose like your used to the WJ. But after that it looses complexity. Had more interesting C<>H's, but price tag seems ok.
