Mount Gay Exceptionally Aged 15 Years
Well-liked but nobody's calling it thrilling — that's the honest read here. It's classic Mount Gay, just smoother and oakier for the extra years: butterscotch, dried dates, coconut and spicy oak, with a slightly bitter, shortish finish. At 43% it's an easy, friendly sipper. Several tasters found it very close to the XO, and the tropical glue note on the nose fades a bit on the palate.

#7227 29.08.2026 VIP tasting at the German Rum Festival 2026. Surprisingly good rum with a pretty OK pice tag in my mind. My quick notes while tasting. Polish, fruits, coconut, orange, woody, roasted, spicy, naturally sweet, caramel, chocolate.

For 15 years of tropical aging, really fair price! Nose has a nice tropical glue note. Unfortunately, the expectation on the palate doesn't quite keep up. I miss the glue and especially the fruits there. Rather a slightly bitter finish.

Still a very enjoyable drop from Mount Gay. Not an over-the-top rum, but a smooth, friendly, nice sipper. Uncomplicated and friendly. Of course a bit weaker than the 25-year-old, but still very tasty.

Classic Mount Gay profile, just smoother and oakier for the longer aging. At 43% it is very easy drinking. Not the most interesting. Tried it alongside Mount Gay XO and the two are extremely similar. Perhaps the XO has the slightest touch more bitterness. Maybe worth a +0.2 on the rating for the 15yr relative to XO but the step up in price doesn’t feel well justified on a taste basis.

GRF 2026 VIP Tasting In der Farbe dunkles Bernstein. Naseneindruck Fassnoten mit schönem Kokos-Anteil, typische Bourbon-Fass Aromen dabei. Am Gaumen gute Mischung aus Karamell und leichter Süsse zusammen mit Kokos und einer würzigen Eichennote. Der Abgang eher kurz jedoch insgesamt durchaus ansprechend. Nichts aussergewöhnliches aber gute Qualität ohne Zusätze zu einem fairen Preis.

Schöne Nase, blind für mich sehr TDL ähnlich, spezielle Nuss und Gewürznote, im Mund dann etwas in Ordnung, aber +5-7% wären hilfreich. Bereue den Kauf für das Geld nicht.
