Wu Dram Clan Clarendon Jamaican Rum 2007
One member calls it "another bomb" of a 2007 Clarendon, and that fits: passion fruit and pineapple up front, varnish and solvent underneath, a woody spine and a mentholic, slightly bitter edge. Several tasters love the tropical fruit but note the 65.9% alcohol isn't fully tucked in — a little heat sticks through the finish. Powerful, fruity, and unmistakably Jamaican pot still.

Can't quite match the almost universally phenomenal 1995 Clarendons, but it definitely makes a statement. A powerful, "light" rum with alcohol that's not perfectly integrated (a slight sharpness especially stands out in the finish), which strangely reminds me of the 2007 Beenleigh from the Bottle Shop that I really like (RX24349; kumquat, bergamot) – but that could also be a hallucination due to the extreme heat right now... Conclusion: Convincing bottling, recommended.

Of course, it can't compete with the 95s, but it offers a similar flavor profile and is a good alternative compared to the current prices. Besides tropical fruits, wood, and spices, you can also taste a pleasant menthol. The alcohol is a bit sharp, so I have to deduct a few points.

Beautifully complex, a bit funky but also very fruity. (Max says prickly pear) It's quite powerful, but not surprising given the alcohol content. Great drop.

I really like the very prominent passion fruit note in the taste. The alcohol tingles a bit but is still absolutely manageable. With water, it becomes spicier and a bit bitter.

Really nice Clarendon! The profile is similar to the 1995 and 1997 vintages, but less complex, with a slight saltiness and wilder. Truly a beautiful piece and a successful cask selection from WDC.

This is another bomb ☠️💣2007 Clarendon. For me the Cave Guildive RX10190 is most extreme, because I love the "blue stilton" cheese taste 😋

Destilliert wurde der Rum im Mai 2007 als klassischer Pot Still Rum in der Clarendon Distillery auf Jamaika. Insgesamt durfte das Fass ganze 19 Jahre reifen, davon beeindruckende 14 Jahre unter tropischem Klima direkt auf Jamaika. Genau diese lange Reifung am Ursprungsort sorgt für enorme Konzentration, intensive Fruchtaromen und eine bemerkenswerte Tiefe. Im Glas zeigt sich der Rum vielschichtig und expressiv: reife Mango, Passionsfrucht, Melone und Stachelbeeren treffen auf elegante Ester, feine Würze und die typische jamaikanische Kraft. Trotz seiner intensiven Fassstärke bleibt der Rum erstaunlich balanciert und lebendig.
