Tasted for the second time, the bottle had time to oxidize a bit. The least we can say is that this rum is a UFO! I've never had this kind of profile in my glass. What surprises me the most is the unusual floral scent on the palate, rounded out by caramel, cooking spices, and vanilla. I think there's something to discover with every tasting.

Trying the new vieux Clairins releases from Velier. This one here is slightly darker than the Vieux Sajous and Vieux Casimir. On the nose it's quite sweet, with sugarcane but also caramel and candied fruit, it evocates a sweet white wine. On the palate the Le Rocher funk is perceptible, the roasted meat juice and smoke are there, although less present than on the unaged version. The Mount Gay cask seems to be bringing the caramel notes and I think it's a nice choice.
