Wu Dram Clan Foursquare Private Cask Selection 2026
One taster called it "very nice bourbon profile, smooth with a woody finish," and that sums up most people's take. This is a 14-year Foursquare from a pure ex-bourbon cask at 58% — coconut, caramel, vanilla and cocoa, with plenty of old oak underneath. #6641 06.04.2026 Tasting with Florian in Blåvand. This is a pretty well balanced Foursquare with nice fruits and coconut. The palate is oily and lightly spicy with a long finish. There is a very faint nutty and caramel touch to the profile.

Schreib Foursquare drauf und du bekommst mal 8,5+ Wertungen. Das ist keine Kritik an der Community, eher eine Wahrnehmung. Die Abfüllungen werden beliebiger, austauschbarer in meiner sehr kleinen, unbedarften Wahrnehmung. Hier steht ein Foursquare, der meiner Meinung nach eben nicht komplett in das gängige Bourbon-Vanille-Kokos Geficke passt. Er wirkt eher schärfer, da ist eine Menge altes, schweres Holz wie Eiche im Spiel. Das macht den Rum schwer und bitter - das muss man mögen und sich dem öffnen, aber dann kann man durchaus Spaß haben! Wenn man ihm noch diese säuerliche Note hintenraus verzeihen kann - gute Abfüllung. Aber eben doch kein 0815 Foursquare, wie ich finde und weil ein bitterer Nachgeschmack bleibt, vor allem bei dem Preis - ne. Keine 8+✌🏻

Tasted right after opening. About 15 minutes in the air. I still think that pure Bourbon aging suits the classic Foursquare profile well. On the nose, there’s a certain coolness that reminds me of ice candy. Otherwise, lots of classic Foursquare notes. Lots of caramel and chocolate. On the palate, the Bourbon cask comes through more clearly. Chocolate and cocoa. Plus more roasted notes. This rum is a bit wilder here. More than 58% ABV would have disturbed the alcohol integration. As it is, everything fits. I like it a lot, but it doesn’t really stand out. I think Nobiliary remains my favorite Foursquare with pure Bourbon aging. But the WDC doesn’t have to hide.

Ein etwas ungleichen Vergleich mit dem neuen Velier Foursquare Indomitas. Der WDC war hier rein in dem Bourbon Fass, was immer sehr gut passt. Die typischen Marker sind schön zu erkennen. Nichts außergewöhnliches in dieser Kombi das überrascht, aber ein einer sehr guten Qualität. Einfach lecker.

Alkohol ist erstaunlich gut eingebunden. Klassisches Foursquare Profil, schön rund, Kolonne kommt wenig durch.

A solid Foursquare without any extremes up or down. Personally, I find it a bit too sharp on the palate; I've had some where the alcohol was better integrated. A sample is enough for me here.

Kleines Foursquare Tasting - April 2026 Der WDC muss sich ein paar von den letzteren Foursquare-Abfüllungen von Velier stellen. Was ich an dem WDC mag, sind die klaren Bourbon-Noten. Aber insgesamt ist er mir zu einfach und zu holzig. Heute gefällt mir der Absolution am besten.

Wirkt beim beim ersten Riechen etwas alkoholisch, geht aber mit der Zeit. Im Geschmack unter anderem eine Salzkaramell-Note, die ich sonst noch nirgends hatte. Der Abgang ist dann von Schokolade und gebranntem Zucker geprägt.

Endlich mal ein anderes Profil. Gute Balance zwischen jugendlicher Frische und dennoch spürbarer Fülle. Gummibären, dazu eine herbe, kräuterige Seite. Im Mund gehaltvoll, mit guter Trinkstärke und kraftvollem Bouquet. Schokoladig, Mokka, dazu wieder kräuterige und leicht herbe Noten. Im Abgang Pfirsich und gelbe Früchte. Spannend und eigenständig, am Ende aber doch nicht ganz mein Profil🙃

The alcohol integration feels better on the palate than on the nose. Overall, a very mature rum that probably shouldn't have stayed in the barrel much longer. A not completely typical Foursquare with a strong cocoa note.
