Savanna Planteray Prestige Cellar Indian Ocean Island (Les Addicts Cuvée No. 3) 2004
The surprise here is the cognac cask — it takes over. Underneath sits a proper 21-year Savanna agricole: tropical fruit, green apple, esters and a menthol lift over lots of oak. But on the palate the cognac turns dominant, almost too much, with drying tannins. A few tasters loved the fruit; one felt the cask "overlagert" the rum itself.

Woody agricole dominated by cognac cask Well liked but divisive — great tropical-fruit nose and cognac character, though several felt the cognac cask runs too heavy over the Savanna, leaving it very dry and tannic.

💯💣Cane Juice 😋 Really good old style Savanna Agricole. For me better than all 1999 Intense and Velier editions.

Wunderschöne Nase die Lust auf Savanna macht. Intensive tropische Früchte, etwas Menthol, grüner Apfel, funky ester und viel Holz und eine deutlich erkennbare Cognac Note. Am Gaumen ist der Cognac dann viel dominanter, fast schon etwas zu intensiv. Die Tannine sind sehr fordernd, sehr adstringierend im Abgang und das Cognac Finish überlagert den Savanna rum leider doch sehr. Sehe trocken und sehr holzig. Ein paar Jahre weniger im Cognac Fass hätten ihm vermutlich gut getan.
