Here's the twist: this Long Pond barely tastes like one. The rare low-ester CRV mark, distilled on a column still in 2004, has so little funk that tasters kept guessing Foursquare or Appleton blind. Expect dried apricot, coconut, caramel, milk chocolate and toasted bourbon oak, with tropical fruit that grows the longer it sits. Sweet but drying, and remarkably composed for 63.3%.

Very pleasant start with roasted wood notes, hardly any esters and dried fruit. It glides elegantly down the palate, with dark chocolate, wood and roasted nuts. There is much to discover in the finish over time, with slight bourbon notes. Little caramel and fruit. Slight bitter notes and minimal acidity. Unique and very successful.

Unusual LP (in a positive sense!), little ester, lots of pleasantly sweet wood, drinkable! As an LP skeptic, I was absolutely convinced by the rum. But since I'm also known as a "farmer's palate", you don't have to take my word for it, but form your own tasting opinion. 😉

Auf diesen LP war ich sehr gespannt. Ein sehr seltenes Mark mit nur sehr wenig Ester bis maximal 20 g/hlpa. Wird das überhaupt heute noch destilliert? Dazu noch fast 22 Jahre alt… klingt sehr gut. Nase: oh ja, vielschichtig und tief. Fruchtig, karamellig, holzig und würzig. Als erstes habe ich süßes Sahnetoffee mit getrockneter Aprikose. Dahinter trockenes, altes Holz. Hinzu kommt aber auch eine leichte alkoholische Schärfe, die ich leicht zu drüber empfinde. Dazu passend ist er auch etwas pfefferig. Dies wird wiederum aufgefangen von reifer, süßlich-saurer Kiwi, Maracuja und Orange. Gefällt mir insgesamt sehr gut. 8,8 Gaumen: krass anders als in der Nase. Zu Beginn salzig und spitz mit einer deutlichen Schärfe, übergehend in etwas röstig-speckiges. Wirkt fast etwas metallisch. Dazu passend zunächst Limettenschale, die sich über Bitterorange zu Kumquat mit einer gewissen Süße entwickelt. Das Speckige wird noch von Kakao begleitet. Der Rum braucht definitiv Zeit. Er will nicht sofort und jedem gefallen, aber weckt Interesse. 8,4

Nase: das ist doch kein Long Pond sondern ein Belize oder Foursquare ist mein erster Gedanke, mit der Zeit kommt mehr Frucht durch Gaumen: wieder eher Belize als Long Pond, Würze und Röstnoten Nachklang: mittellang, rostig, wieder viel Bourbon, Muss ich erneut verkosten, weil sich eine Erkältung anbahnt und meine Wahrnehmung beeinträchtigt. Mein erster Gesamteindruck ist jedenfalls verhalten positiv.

#6316 06/08.02.2026 My first visit to The Village in Nuremberg and it was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely attend again as there is more than enough rum going around. This one was my favourit release from Rumclub. A very good Jamaica mark with lots of fruits and light nutts, caramel and chocolatel. ABV is near perfectly integrated.

Blind wärs wohl ein FSQ gewesen; auf LP hätte ich wohl nie getippt, aber das (zumindest für mich) neue Mark überzeugt mich. Viel Trockenfrüchte, Kokosnuss und Karamell. Der Fasseinfluss ist angenehm mit Holz, Nuss und Schokolade

Sehr leckerer runder und eher eleganter Long Pond mit nicht zu viel Ester power. Aprikose, Banane, milchschokolade, etwas Minze und Karamell... Schöne dicke Viskosität. Kann man für knapp 64% echt überraschend gut trinken! Kommt aber nicht den bisher legendären plantation 1993 crv dran!✌🏼😄

Ein Long Pond bei dem die Esterzahl deutlich überschaubar ist. Ungewöhnlich und rar, da dies auch nicht mehr produziert wird. Ich war entsprechend gespannt hier. Es ist von Beginn an eine schöne Balance zwischen Holz und Frucht vorhanden. Viel Holz aber niemals unangenehm. Lässt sich Toll sippen. An der deutlich an Appleton erinnernden Nase nehmen tropische Früchte langsam die Oberhand, am Gaumen kämpfen Frucht und Holz. Schöne Balance insgesamt. Und ja das wirkt hier ganz schön old school 😃

Sehr entspannter Long Pond mit weniger Estern als erwartet, was ihn leider recht süffig macht. Gefällt mir wirklich sehr gut. Hätte von diesem Profil gerne mehr. Muss mich nochmal auf die Jagd nach dieser Abfüllung machen.

This rum did sit in the glass for about 45-60 minutes and it did open nicely. On the nose: Dried apricot as a main note. Vanilla. Barrel notes. Coconut. Light caramel notes. The high abv is integrated perfectly. Taste:Coconut, caramel, lightly roasted. Light dark chocolate notes. Dried apricots in the background. Pretty sweet, but not artificially sweet. Based on the nose and taste i would have guessed somekind of Foursquare/Antigua blend leaning slightly on Antigua. Meaning that this rum was going places and i liked it alot. From what i have learned after tasting ~5-10 different Rumclub releases is that they dont seem choose the casks with typical notes and this was not a exception to that rule.

Wenig Erwartungen an einen low ester Long Pond gehabt, aber nach etwas Standzeit hat die Abfüllung von RumClub positiv überrascht. Erinnert ein bisschen an die guten Belize Abfüllungen, aber dazu kommt eine ausgeprägtere Fruchtnote.

Braucht etwas Zeit und Luft bis sich die Nase entwickelt. Sehr entspannt für einen Jamaikaner, was vermutlich am Low-Ester Profil liegt. Sehr ausgewogenene Balance zwischen Trockenfrüchten, Rosine und einer weichen Holznote. Nichts dominantes, wirklich schön Rund ohne langweilig zu sein. Schöne Tiefe und Komplexität.

#1736 27-02-2026 - Rate 8.9 I really like Long Pond. When things align a Long Pond can be amazing. And this one is close to that. Great nose and a long smooth taste. The high ABV is poaching your throat. Highly recommend this rum.

Аромат: ну что, тут полная противоположность высокоэфирным Хемпденам, вслепую бы сказал, что это Foursquare или Appleton, т.к. очень много тропических фруктов, сладкий аромат, лёгкая мятная свежесть, какие-то пыльные книги как в библиотеке в детстве, лёгкая древесность, сладкое манго, малина и ягодные ноты, карамель и молочный шоколад, всё очень утончённо, красиво собрано и очень аккуратно. Вкус: очень мощно, плотно и самое главное безумно вкусно, море тропических фруктов, шоколадно-карамельные ноты с лёгкими ягодными нотами, сладость есть, но она перекрывается сухой древесностью, алкоголь совсем не чувствуется. Послевкусие: очень долгое тропическое слегка горьковатое травяное древесное, ореховые слегка вяжущие ноты с лёгкими табачными нотами. Очень много тропических фруктов в аромате, один из самых фруктовых и вкусных ромов с Ямайки. Мощный шоколадно-ягодный древесный вкус, алкоголь прекрасно интегрирован и 63,3° совсем не чувствуется. Очень очень долгое тропическое ореховое терпкое послевкусие. Очень похож на Appleton из серии Hearts Collection.
