Clarendon Planteray Jamaica 2013 finished in Madeira Wine Casks
The Madeira does most of the talking here — toffee, popcorn, raisins and dried figs pile on top of the Clarendon, and several tasters think the finish smothers the base rum rather than lifting it. Under all that you'll still catch Jamaican glue, banana and mango, with a short, dry, tannic close. Well-made and well-integrated, but the cask runs the show.

Round young Clarendon with intense Madeira notes, reminiscent of popcorn and toffee. Round, but overall the Madeira finish is too dominant here and overwhelms the base rum a little too much for my taste...
