Der Blend ist per se nicht schlecht, die einzelnen Komponenten vermischen sich aber nicht zu einem stimmigen Ganzen für mich. Der NY Anteil dominiert geschmacklich, die Karamellnote ist mir persönlich zu ausgeprägt. Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein. Stark adstringierend.

A rum tasted at bar 1802 during the RumX party at WLP25 and at the first RumX meeting. A nose with a very broad aromatic palette, but each component appears a little timid, drowned in the mass. Edit: re-tasted and the Jamaican and Guyanese notes take over. The first taste is soft, then the aromas rise a little. Here too, a very broad aromatic palette where the fruity, floral and spicy notes of the TDL dominate. Edit: TDL is rather dominated by Jamaica and Guyana. The finish is balanced and elegant. A great success, even if the quest for balance was, for my taste, to the detriment of personality. Edit: the finish is less balanced but has more personality. I prefer it. I don't feel the Caroni in the blend. Edit: the Caroni is perceptible at the very end. It doesn't seem to be the same rum, Oliver explains that it was well oxygenated before the final bottling.

Die Namen der Rums im Blend versprechen so einiges! Sehr leckerer Navy Rum, bei dem der Jamaica Anteil für mich heute am meisten hervorragt. Intensiv, serviert er seine Aromen doch eher mit der feinen Klinge. Der Abgang ist leider etwas kurz.

Super ricci / rumX evening at 1802, a huge thank you to all 3. A tasting to be taken in hindsight, because after a day at the live venue, a Korean restaurant and a daiqiri high ester, it needs to be tasted more calmly. A good blend, very well produced. Each provenance makes a statement.

Une sacré claque ! Un vrai profil heavy. Un nez très ouvert qui oscille entre Jamaïque et Trinidad, de la menthe et bcp de fruits notamment la banane. Mais en bouche bien plus lourd torréfié et épicé. Pas de doute avec ça les marins devaient bien se marrer tous les jours. À regoûter au calme car après un Whisky Live et bcp trop de Daiquiri au Bar 1802, le palais était en feu. Mais c’est tellement imposant que certaines notes étaient évidentes. Le Caroni n’est pas là pour la déco.

L’exotisme ravit le matelot et on sent le parfum capiteux des fruits exotiques (papaye, mangue, fruits exotiques) dans l’haleine légèrement estérisé de la courtisane, mêlé à la sueur des hommes d’équipage qui n’ont pas eu le temps de se laver après avoir goudronné les fils de carets des manœuvres dormantes. Ce goudron Caroni nappe les narines comme si l’Exxon Valdez vous rotait à la gueule. Un camphre mentholé vient en fond un peu comme un vieux loup de mer au fond du bar qui se ferait poser un cataplasme à la guibole, pour masquer l’odeur d’une infection qui demandera une jambe de bois. D’ailleurs, la jambe a fini d’être taillée dans un mât et on y applique les finitions. Le salin des embruns accompagne le vernis à bois. Tout ça est musqué, on sent que c’est un rhum gourmand et harmonieux comme une gourgandine bien charpentée qui va encaisser la solde du moussaillon pour le déniaiser. L’attaque est franche comme une rixe au tesson de bouteille entre deux ivrognes qui se sont fait voler leurs tot mugs, ces petites tasses en étain pour leur ration de rhum quotidienne. La bouche est aussi explosive d’un coup de mousquet, sur les fruits exotiques et la réglisse, aussi acide que le contenu d’un crachoir pour du tabac à chiquer. Une amertume assez marquée mais passagère est vite relayée par ce goût de garage huileux. Un mécano aux mains calleuses et noires de cambouis vient de vous mettre un pain pour avoir fait des yeux doux à la fille de joie qu’il convoitait. Vous vous réveillez en remettant votre bâchi sur la tête, époussetant votre pompon.

Nice blend, but somehow lacks that certain something for a top rating. At least I find it better than after the boozy night at the community meeting :) Otherwise, all the components are recognizable here: mint, wood, tropical fruits, esters, but also some dark chocolate. Only the typical Caroni is somehow missing.

I've now had this bottling in my glass for the 3rd time... and I have to say... it's good, but unfortunately it falls short compared to the Spirit of the Day and Trinidad of Soul... it lacks a bit of complexity, the fruit content is quite low

An der Nase ein schönes Aroma von tropischen Früchten mit einer note von Minze. Am Gaumen dann eher die geröstete Kirsche mit einem warmen Abgang. Gefällt mir ganz gut. Macht einen relativ ausgewogenen blend.

Le Navy Blend de Famille Ricci et RumX est tout en équilibre et retenue. Le nez est timide de prime abord et à besoin de temps pour que les arômes se libèrent. On ressent les épices, le bois et les noix dans un premier temps, ce n’est qu’après un certains temps qu’une forme d’exotisme se dévoile entre la banane, le goudron, le menthol et le caramel. L’équilibre fait que les arômes se neutralisent. Les arômes tentent une percée en bouche mais à force de chercher l’équilibre, rien ne se différencie du lot. Le profil de New Yarmouth semble prendre le dessus avec son côté classique (non péjoratif, surtout pour associer les notes épicées, caramélisées, boisées, toastées et les fruits secs) mais l’ensemble manque de personnalité pour se différencier du reste. Un peu de goudron et de menthol s’ajoutent dans le lot mais sans faire mouche. L’alcool reste bien intégré. La finale est courte, mince et nous laisse sur notre faim. On retrouve le profil classique sur les épices, le boisé et le caramel. Quelques notes fruitées viennent par-ci et là sur ce profil tannique et sec. Un bon rhum à boire, qui mériterait sans doute un peu d’oxydation pour s’exprimer pleinement.

A very complex blend in which all three islands are recognizable from nose to finish. I cannot detect any real dominance. Great Guyana notes with wood and dried fruits meet light esters and tropical fruits from Jamaica. The TDL brings some nice mint with it, but the Caroni is only perceptible in accents. Conclusion: A good blend, but not a top-class navy blend

I really like the nose, as there's a lot going on here. The sweetness from the NY, the dark from the Guyana part, the red fruits from the TDL and the light Caroni dirt. Everything comes together and harmonizes well. On the palate, on the other hand, it seems a little wilder and it is no longer so clear which part is doing what here. The blend needs time in the glass. Then it becomes clearer, the wood becomes less, but the bitterness is still a little too present for me. The finish also has a lot of wood ... A nice blend, but with the proportions you somehow expect a little more body on the palate. Tastes good to me but doesn't come close to the first HQNB Ed 31 from RC.

Hier habe ich einen gut ausbalancierten und leckeren Navy Blend. Die Nase ist sehr fruchtig, würzig und hat durch den Jamaikarum schöne Ester. Tropische Früchte wie Banane, Ananas und Passionsfrucht gehen über florale Noten zu einer holzigen und würzigen Seite. Kakao, etwas Leder sowie leichte Kräuter sind auch vorhanden. Am Gaumen kommt durch Guyana und Jamaika eine wunderbare Süße. Dann folgen Backgewürze, tropische Früchte, Lakritze, Röstnoten Ester und etwas Minze. Das Holz ist schön austariert und spielt perfekt mit Kakao, Piment und Ledernoten. Der Jamaikaanteil ist hier sehr präsent. Der harmonische und lange Abgang ist sehr komplex und bietet ähnliche Aromen wie der Gaumen. Die frischen und würzigen Töne halten sich noch lange im Mund. Hier machen Guyana und Trinidad eine gute Figur. Dieser Blend trinkt sich durch die 57% sehr angenehm. Danke an @Oliver für die schöne Flasche. 😃

On continue l'horizontale des Navy Rum. Voyons voir ce qu'a à offrir cette collaboration entre Ricci et RumX. 👃 Premier nez porté par le Guyana, un peu de cuivre, de sève et d'alambic en bois pour moi. Après une bonne heure d'aération ; thé menthe camomille, sève encore, pin, chocolat, café torréfié, fruits secs, caramel de mélasse de fruits, fleurs d'arbres fruitiers, corbeille de fruits divers, pot-pourri, huiles parfumées, goudron et vernis léger. Traces pas très agréable d'artichaut et de poivron vert caramélisé avec des épices de cuisine. Alcool un peu présent au nez. Les marqueurs olfactifs sont variés mais je leur trouve un manque global d'intensité. 😋 Le bois est bien présent, assez sec, astringent et tannique. Pas mal d'épices vives et pimentées, de menthe séchée, de réglisse, de sève de pin, les esters typiques du New Yarmouth, acidité de fruits encore verts, de la cerise aigre. Fruits tropicaux légers, caramel de fruits du nez. Par contre, je ne perçois quasiment pas les caractéristiques empyreumatiques typique de Caroni. Alcool assez vif encore, je lui trouve un manque d'intégration. ⛳ Chaude, pimentée, sèche, amère. Fruits tropicaux et caramel doux, astringence boisée, épices et cacao, menthe séchée, thé noir. Pas très longue, s'estompe trop rapidement par rapport à ce que présageait la bouche et le degré alcoolique. 💡 Un bon Navy Rum qui troc son intensité et sa concentration aromatique pour un profil équilibré et étagé, avec un alcool assez présent. Il lui manque un petit quelque chose en plus pour le hisser au même niveau que les autres Navy dégustés précédemment. 🏅 Mon classement actuel ; Velier Royal Navy (92) > SpiritoftheDay (90) = Swell Funky Navy (90) > Velier Replica (87) > Tiger Shark (86+) > Ricci RumX (85) > Mister Fogg batch1 (75).

C’est un très bon Navy , L’assemblage est plutôt réussie. Au il y a des belles notes de fruits tropicaux, Du caramel, du goudron, De la banane et des épices. Il y a aussi une petite touche de menthol À la dégustation, nous retrouvons tous ces éléments, L’alcool est super bien intégré et la longueur est plus que correcte. Peut-être juste une petite difficulté à bien différencier les différentes origines des jus du blend J’aime beaucoup

heute drei Navy blends im Vergleich: der RX Ricci, Spirit of the Day und der Swell. Der Ricci und SotD sind sich ähnlicher mit getrockneten Früchten, Gummi, Werkstatt, Frische, beim Ricci geht es mehr Richtung Würze, beim SotD mehr Menthol (und Pflaumenmus?). Der Swell fällt etwas aus der Reihe, mehr Funk (er wurde aber fairerweise auch als Funky Navy verkauft). Am Gaumen gefällt mir der Ricci ausgesprochen gut.

Wirklich schöner, eleganter und ausbalancierter Navy Rum mit einem für mich insgesamt gefühlt zumindest recht hohen Anteil an Trinidad Rum im Blend, welcher für mich am dominantesten raus kommt. Jamaica bringt leichte ester, buttrige Fruchtnoten und funkyness mit, caroni minimal dreckig aber kaum wahrnehmbar im Hintergrund, Guyana nehme ich tatsächlich fast gar nicht wahr seltsamerweise, Trinidad TDL bringt für mich den Hauptanteil mit Minze, cola und Zitrusfrüchten mit, was eher ungewohnt bei Navy rums für mich ist aber durchaus stimmig ist. Insgesamt wirklich lecker und elegant aber mir fehlt etwas Tiefgang und Würze und etwas mehr Guyana Anteil... Kann aber alles Tagesform abhängig sein.

#1734 27-02-2026 - Rate 7.8 I like blends. But most if it’s blends from the same distillery. I’m usually not the biggest fan of cross distillery blends. Often findes the a bit messy. I like it when I can place a rum when I drink it. This is not the case with cross distillery blends. This one is in the better end. Nice nose and I can find some Caroni in the taste

Initially very fruity aromas of both tropical and red fruits are perceptible. Slowly, dirty tar aromas come in and take over. But Jamaica does not admit defeat here either and strikes back with full fruit power. On the palate, we have a little bit of everything. I can taste cherry, tar, esters, licorice and a little mint. What somehow bothers me, however, is the lack of harmony between the ingredients. It seems less rounded overall and more like a composition of great individual parts that you would like to taste separately. The finish is very dry and astringent. Perhaps the blend would have benefited from a longer resting phase before release. I would rate the alcohol integration as good. As with the first taste, my expectations were not quite fulfilled. The art of blending is simply very complex.

Wer mit Blending Maßstab wirbt, lehnt sich wirklich weit heraus. Aber ok..,ist am Ende natürlich gelungen. M.E. aber keinerlei Chance gegen die Velier Navy Rums (old Navy und Tiger Shark). Zweifelsohne viele schöne Nuancen und von allem etwas…aber mir persönlich zu wenig Caroni. Alkohol ist gut integriert, aber er muss wirklich lange stehen, sonst beißt er etwas. Jammern auf hohem Niveau :-)

Ricci vs. RumX, Nummer 25000, Große Namen, große Erwartungen? Tatsächlich gehe ich etwas skeptisch an diesen Blend. Navy-Blends gibt es unzählige, in allen Qualitäten und Alkoholstärken. Nur gute Grund-Rums ergeben leider viel zu oft keine guten Blend. Anders ist es hier: Die drei Länder wechseln sich spielend ab, ohne sich gegenseitig zu übertönen. Als erstes tritt Jamaika aufs Spielfeld und neben dem Wohl Hampden-typischen Estern fällt mir sofort etwas Gebäck auf, dass auf New Yarmouth zurückzuführen sein dürfte. Weiter geht es mit einer kräutrig-mineralischen Note, die natürlich den Fässern DDLs entspringt. Den Abschluss geben sich pflanzlich-dreckige Noten, die TDL Minze ist da und ich bilde mir sogar etwas caroniesken Teer ein. Schöner Blend, der zwar auch einen stolzen Preis hat, aber mich trotzdem überzeugt! Vielleicht ist meine Bewertung etwas hoch, aber ich mag Navy-Blends einfach und der hier macht einfach sehr viel richtig!

Schön, das Ding vor der Flinte zu haben. War schlecht verpackt, ein Glück, dass das Fläschchen heile angekommen ist. Label sitzt etwas schief, aber das macht nichts. Der Duft ist wahnsinnig vielfältig. Ich würde fast sagen perfekt ausgewogen, da will man drin baden. Frucht, Holz, Gewürz und die nötige Portion dreckige Werkstatt, herrlich. Dann am Gaumen ein richtiges Erlebnis. Was für ein toller Rum. Die oben notierten Geschmacksnoten sind einfach alle da und wechseln sich ab. Dabei ein perfekt eingebundener Alkoholgehalt. Der Abgang ist leider einen Tacken zu kurz, das ist schade, man trinkt zu schnell!

Kommt sehr angenehm dunkel in der Farbe daher, was großes in der Nase und am Gaumen verspricht. Die Abfüllung ist insgesamt sehr TDL lastig, viel Menthol und kühlende, würzige Einflüsse. Das ist dummerweise überhaupt nicht meins, da können aber Ricci, Oli und Rob nichts für. Ein schöner Navy, der eine Menge Charakter mitbringt und mit dem man Spaß im Glas haben kann, wenn man sich die Zeit nimmt, damit er sich öffnen kann

Byt fanda Rum-X, TDL a posledni dobou i navy blendu nemohl jsem toto vydani minout. Nos slibuje hodne. Spousta rozmanitosti a muzete vonet cely vecer. Barva krasne tmava. Chutove take rozmanite nicmene zde jiz prevazuje chut dreva s tim spojena horkost a ostrost. To nicmene u Navy tak trochu cekate. Letisni Blacktot Master blend jsem jeste nemel, bude to zajiave stovnani. Libi se mi take transparentnost a je videt ze si s pomerem autori vyhrali. Jsem zvedav na ohlas nasi rumove komunity, kam jedna lahev nyni poputuje.

The nose - woody, then fruits and then something like licorice or something like glue or solvents, esters. The color- gold, dark The taste- complex but balanced- not sweet, but fruity tones, dry or astringent.. The aftertaste- warm medium or long, dry little woody, To sum it up - good job, not for beginners, but for more experienced, I would recommend. The longer it stays in the glass, the better taste you get…I would say that the more Jamaica tones I feel..

Na tento Rum jsem se velmi těšil, suroviny použité pro tento blend jsou fenomenální. Nicméně jsem poměrně zklamán. Přijde mi, že Hampden dost vystupuje a potlačuje chuť ostatních složek. Hampden miluji, ale tady je jeho dominance zkrátka škoda :-( Navíc mi přijde, že není dobře integrovaný alkohol, chuť mi přijde pálivá. Dám mu ještě šanci příště, snad mi přijde lepší.

Blend tres bien travaillé, tous les composants se fondent les uns dans les autres. On a les fruits jaunes du tdl, le coté patissier du NY 94 et le boisé marqué du port mourant. Un coté chocolaté egalement, des epices et quelques fruits rouges. Je ne décèle par contre ni le hampden, ni le caroni (ce dernier donne peut etre uniquement un peu de profondeur et de complexité). Malgré les 57 degrés, la bouche a une belle vivacité. Finale relativement longue sur le bois, les epices et la cassonade.

I'm generally a big fan of Navy rums. This one is also very good for my taste. The fruitiness of Hampden is combined with the caramelly sweetness of NY, with the spiciness of TDL and a hint of Caroni serving as a foundation. Not quite on the same level as the Velier Old Navy, but still an excellently made blend that strikes a wonderful balance between relaxed drinking and beautiful complexity.

Too much Hampden at the beginning but after a while its much more decent and esters are fading. Caroni and TDL is not present unfortunately. For me its like very nice old blend of jamaica - good enough but not what I expected.
