A.H. Riise Family Reserve Solera 1838 Rum
"Sweet rum with a capital" S, as one member put it — and that's the whole story here. Thick and syrupy, with candied orange peel, marzipan, vanilla and a spicy cinnamon-tobacco tail. Fans of sweet Riise bottles call it a dessert in a glass; others find it sticky and cloying, more sweetened liqueur than traditional rum. It sits firmly in dessert-rum territory.

Geschmacklich vollmundig leichte Tabak Note. Intensiv.

15.12.2025 Day 15 of my Christmas Calendar. Still a very sweet and sticky rum in my mind. Very light fruity nose and the palate is lightly spicy and very sweet with spices. --------- Not as fruity as the XO reserve, but still way too sweet for me. A bit creamy but the sweetness kills what could have been good.

...ein A.H.

7,5:On the nose, cinnamon from the beginning... There's also some clove and some vanilla. There's a hint of licorice from the molasses, but it's the cinnamon overpowering. Aeration brings to mind some soda notes, as Cola first, then a spicy cola like a Dr.Pepper. Then the ginger comes in and we think more of a ginger ale. There's always an impression of spicy confectionery, like these pepper and cinnamon chewing gums. 7,5:On the palate, this is thick and sweet rum with the orange zest as the first impression. In the middle of the palate, there's a lot of molasses. Of course, the omnipresent cinnamon on the nose makes a come back, with some fruity notes. 7:The finish is medium, sweet with cinnamon, there is a feeling of a sugar powder left...

The taste is powerful and very full with notes of orange, powdered sugar and tobacco, finishing with a spicy creamy long sweet aftertaste.

On my top 5 from Riise definitely worth it, great price. If you like sweet, go for it.

Cukrové a husté pomerne dosť, citrusy, príjemné dosť, kratšie v závere, dosť cukru

Too much fake sweets
Review by Kay Meertens
Raisin, sugared almond, banana and glue in the nose. The typical candied orange peel that is in almost all Riises in the taste. A bit of pineapple in the end. One of the best Riises I've had, but much too sweet unfortunately.

Read full review →Sweet rum with a capital "S". Marzipan in the nose, a body of orange-apricot jam, and a spicy tail. And in addition, a classy origin. If this idea appeals to you, you have nothing to hesitate and the price is the last thing you will be interested in. Only then, don't forget to regularly burn those calories.
