Sipped neat, this is the drier, more grown-up side of Diplomático — nothing like the syrupy Reserva many expect. Vanilla, chocolate and raisins on the nose, then caramel, a little oak and dried fruit on a palate that reads bourbon-like more than sweet. At 43% the alcohol sits well in the background. A few find it thin; give it time in the glass.

2013 innovation - fresh design - since the acquisition of brown forman - work on a differentiating profile. 3 distillations: column, batch kettle, pot still, then cask. Nose: a little brighter, quite tangy, melon? Slightly empyreu, banana vanilla. Mouth: a little too banana / bourbon, a little simple with a smoky return. Not bad. Blind taste: very bourbon-like, pleasant but confusing.

Die Nase ist komplex, mit Vanille, Melone, Trockenfrüchte, Fasseinfluß, nussig. Der Geschmack besticht durch Süße, fruchtige Akzente, Kakao und etwas Holz. Der Abgang ist lang, trocken, floral und im Hintergrund etwas Eierlikör. Der Rum benötigt viel Zeit im Glas🥃. Ich glaube, zwei weitere Jahre Lagerung hätten diesem Rum gut zu Gesicht gestanden.

Aroma of pear, vanilla, chocolate. Quite weak flavors, feels almost a little watered down. Caramel, pear, wood, and chocolate in the flavor. No alcohol strength at all, very nicely integrated and smooth.
