Massive tropical fruit explosion with banana and mango, accompanied by vanilla and distinctive ester funk. Spicy wood notes and a hint of tar add depth. On the palate very intense and powerful, yet surprisingly well-balanced and not overwhelming. Long finish with fruits, spice, and a slightly smoky bitterness.

On the nose, there are solvents, rubber, leather/tobacco, marzipan, raisins and caramel. But it's so concentrated that it borders on the nauseating. On the palate, the attack is harsh! Not to be put in anyone's hands. Intense, powerful, oily. A spicy profile with the leather/tobacco of the nose, oak and caramel. Plus the famous solvents and rubber. The finish is long on coffee/cocoa. Very astringent. The advantage of this type of keel is that the level will drop very slowly. Once opened, it will last a few months (years) in the bar. Clearly, it's not my thing. I just can't get into the swing of things. But you have to admit, it's well done.

Nach dem Öffnen der Flasche verteilt sich sofort ein Frucht-/Ester-/Lösungsmittelduft im Raum ! Im Glas, nach einigem Ruhen, gesellen sich zum ersten Eindruck zarte Vanille-, Marzipan- und Passoinsfruchtaromen dazu… genau meins! Am Gaumen zuerst eine schwere Süße..cremig verteilt sich der Rum , begleitet von tropischen Früchten, jungem Holz/Geäst, Piment und Vanille/Anis! Der Alkohol ist perfekt eingebunden…ich könnte stundenlang darauf herumkauen! Der Abgang ist lang und intensiv nach tropischer Frucht (Passionsfrucht), Kardamon, jungem Holz und leichtem Ester! Ich bin begeistert! Edit: Heute erneut im Blindtasting von Mirco verkostet. Ich babe ihn dabei zuerst mit dem NRJ Teca verwechselt.. das liegt aber daran, dass meine Flasche länger geöffnet ist und der Rum dadurch deutlich smoother wird. Meine Bewertung bleibt

Day 16 of the Samples de Luxe calendar and tasted again a year and a half later. An almost Guyana nose with brown sugar, leather and varnished wood. Depth, fruit and acidity. The alcohol hits hard but the palate remains perfectly balanced. Vegetal notes emerge, eucalyptus and cut grass. Passion fruit and sandalwood. The finish is as long as one could wish, and the sweetness of this rum becomes even more apparent as the alcohol evaporates, leaving rich, complex aromas in the empty glass. A rich, powerful rum, a success!

This is a retasting and I stick to my initial score. A great release and thanks to Thunderbird for the sample swap 😊 ----- Wow, this is a really nice rum. The nose is nice and fruity from opening the bottle. The fruityness is wall balanced with spices and of course esters and some polish. The palate matches the nose with its fruitiness and spices. A heavy yet balanced palate with a bit of wood and menthol. The finish is long and fruity with ginger and lugt coffee/barrel.

Absolute top notch LP release without a doubt. Coming back to this is a joy every time. While the nose is loaded with esters - glue, nail polish and other chemical notes - and lots of punch, the palate - while still extremly intense - provides a very complex and balanced profile playing the whole range across intense fruits, esters, wood, some herbal notes and an unexpected heavy sweetness. This is intense yet balanced and just an excellent high ester rum. Sidenote: from the freshly opened bottle, there is a rather unpleasant bit on the palate. However, this fades after some time and oxidation.

Long Pond Teca 2005 is and remains simply the reference for a Tropical Aged Rum for me. Incredibly mature, full-bodied and complex... simply brilliant. As a mixer in Mai Tai a grenade .

Online tasting of various TECA and TECC organized by Mirco. First of all, many thanks for the great split to be able to try them all side by side. Now I had to readjust a few ratings. Tasted Pueblo del Ron 2024 at the fair. Although I already had a sample of it at home, thanks to Serge's advice I couldn't resist having it poured into my glass. At €5 for 2cl, it's now a no-brainer. What a cracker, nothing more needs to be said.

Dégusté après le TECA 2007 NRJ. Le nez est du même acabit mais plus riche et gourmand. C'est ultra funky, fruité, bourré d'esters. En bouche, là aussi, on a les mêmes marqueurs que le 2007 mais la complexité et la gourmandise sont un cran au-dessus. C'est vraiment très bon. La finale est douce et longue, avec une pointe d'acidité. C'est gourmand à souhait malgré la puissance. Ça reste piquant même plusieurs minutes après la dernière gorgée. Une pure merveille. Edit : j'ai sûrement dégusté les 2 derniers cl de ce rhum et j'en ai la larme à l'oeil. Que c'est bon !

Good stuff. Association of a fermented fruit iced tea. Crass nail polish remover. The sun in the glass. Super tasty. A nose to fall in love with, easily over 90 points. In the mouth, however, the acidity is too hefty for me. But that should be personal reference. Overall, an extremely horny drop.

The absolute Long Pond reference for me. Incredibly complex and endless power. Unfortunately, my bottle is running out. One of the best rums I've ever had, even in May Tai. I hope tropically aged TECA rums come along again soon - I love this brand.

Un Long Pond sensationnel, qui débute au nez avec de très belles notes phénoliques, des fruits exotiques en abondance et des notes pâtissières et sucrées très gourmandes, le tout offrant un profil harmonieux et aromatique à souhait. En bouche, on ressent une texture grasse et huileuse qui se marie parfaitement à la gourmandise des fruits, la fraîcheur florale, l’astringence des notes phénoliques et la finesse des épices et du bois. On est sur un rhum très équilibré, d’une grande rondeur et d’une complexité hors du commun. La finale, très longue, prolonge les arômes fruités, épicés et boisés, avec de légères notes torréfiées de café et du caramel. Un rhum extraordinaire, à la limite de l’orgasme olfactif et gustatif.

Actually, the ITP - VRW - STCE range is my comfort zone for relaxed drinking. But this TECA is not only a flavor bomb, but also scary tasty and drinkable at the same time. Absolute banger.

Blind tasting. It's a Jamaican, no doubt about it. And one of those with esters. The fruit is very ripe, even rotten. There's a touch of almond powder and quite a bit of solvent. So I'm thinking of an NRJ bottle, probably a TECA (because I know TECC and STCE and it's not that). In the end, that's what it is. It's a good rum, but not particularly pleasant for me. It's nice to try, but not the kind of thing I like to drink for pleasure. So not a bottle I'd buy to sip.

Nach den beiden Velier STCE von 2005 und 2010 bin ich gespannt was der viel gelobte 2005er TECA kann. Die Nase ist intensiv aber verschlossener. Jedenfalls fällt es mir schwerer einzelne Aromen zu identifizieren. Am Gaumen bleibt aber kein Zweifel mehr, dass es sich hier um ein anderes Mark mit wesentlich höherem Estercount handelt. Eine intensivere Aromenwelle rollt durch den Mundraum, wie ich das liebe, toll! Das ist nochmal eine Intensitätssteigerung des Long Pond Profils im Vergleich zu den STCE Abfüllungen. Gefällt mir ausgezeichnet! Leider ist die Abfüllung längst vergriffen. Deshalb Danke an die Community für die Samples!

Complex Long Pond with a brilliant nose and palate. The smell hits you in the face, solvents, glue, ester, tropical fruit, wood, spices…. Very intense on the palate as well. One of the best HV bottles ever released.

2nd tasting after the TECA/TECC community blind tasting. The nose is quite round and balanced for a TECA, with esters, glue, varnish and solvents as well as dried fruit, spices and marzipan. The palate is intense and slightly astringent. Overripe fruit, esters, but also fermentation. Very good rum, but in my opinion a little too hyped and not worth the current prices on the 2nd/3rd market.

Retasted today along some of my favorite rums from Trinidad and Guyana. Brought it down a point with still an excellent score due to a small sulphur note. This is great, complete without any off notes. it's heavy, it's sweet, soury fruity with some mocha wood. Thanks JakobM for sharing the sample.

It just hits you in the face - a stunner, the nose solvent, glue, marzipan, dark, spicy - damn complex, not for beginners! The 62% is already well received but what started in the nose continues on the palate, here the tropical maturation comes into its own, astringency, heavy, tropical fruits and a hell of a lot of funk!!!! This LP TECA is an absolute benchmark! Great cinema

In the nose: glue, nail polisher, tropical fruits and ester. Palate: tropical fruits, spicy Long finish with vanilla. Bomb!! Unfortunately it is hard to get your hands on one recently, since the price skyrocketed and is hard to find.

This is the second time I've tasted this rum and it's still an amazing drop. The nose is full of solvents, varnish, paint and tropical fruits. The mouth brings more spicy notes and some citrus. The finish ends dry and is quite long.

Whaou quelle bombe d'intensité ! 👃 L'odeur dominante est un ensemble de fruits tropicaux surmûris (mangue, papaye, banane cochon) portés par de magnifiques esters finement boisés et une vanille cuite dans son beurre. Le boisé amène aussi un caramel bien cuit. En arrière plan, l'odeur caractéristique de la colle en bâton de l'école primaire. Un aspect plus élémentaire, comme l'intérieur d'un vieil alambic en cuivre. Un peu de bitume chaud, une sorte d'asphalte sucré en plein soleil. J'ai aussi une note d'olive verte en bocal qui traine par là. 😋 J'ai d'abord l'ananas bien confit, très sucré, puis le reste des fruits tropicaux du nez. Des petits piquants pimentés, des bonbons du confiseur aussi. L'astringence des fruits surmûris. Je trouve des zestes agrumes confits de temps en temps. De la vanille fraîchement ouverte au couteau. Tout cela magnifié par les esters toujours aussi dominants. Une bouche complexe et dense. ⛳ Chaude, longue, très longue, esters, vieux bois de calle de bateau, des morceaux d'ananas et de zeste de citron vert coincés dans le palais. On peut jouer avec la langue. Beaucoup d'olive verte 🫒 et d'anchoïade dans le verre vide. Une dinguerie à redéguster pour enrichir la note.

Knaller Long Pond, selten so was Gutes im Glas gehabt! Schöner Beach Drink, by the way 😎🏖️ In der Nase Klebstoff und Würze vom Fass, dazu Früchte und erster Funk, gegorenes Obst und Ester. Das explodiert auf der Zunge und geht mächtig nach vorne, wird von holzigen, würzigen Einflüssen vom Fass noch getoppt und abgerundet. Eine tolle Abfüllung, die richtig Spaß macht, ein echtes Brett und Highlight!

Tasted outside, so only a rough description. I love the TECA 2007 and this bottling puts still one on top. The aroma intensity is enormous and meets exactly my taste. On the palate super complex with lots of power. Somehow everything occurs here at some point. From wood influence, a nice creamy sweetness to esters. The finish is infinitely long. A dream. I am in love. This is going to be expensive, but a bottle I must have.

Long Pond Tasting: Einer der extremsten Rums die man probiert haben muss. Voll in die Fresse um es in der Jugendsprache auszudrücken. Unfassbar lecker aber eines der besten Beispiel für einen Rum den man nicht jeden Tag braucht. Einfach eine Bombe Fleischig, Ester, Tropisch.

Very strong TECA nose. Complex. Legendary. Long finish. Tasting next to Velier TECA 2007. Both great, but depends on the mood which you prefer. The 2007 is a bit stronger while this is more balanced. I slightly prefer this one.

Nase: viel Gummi & Ananas, Brombeere, Zwetschgen, etwas Orange, Schokolade, Rauch, ganz leicht Pfeffer, Vanille, kaum Alkohol Gaumen: Ananas, Autoreifen, Rauch/ Röstaroma, Zwetschgen, etwas Orangenschale, leichte Birne, ganz leicht grasig im Abgang, warm aber kaum alkoholig (62%!).
