Secret Cask Hampden Jamaican Rum (Der Gereifte) <>H 2001
Here's the surprise: at 61.3% this Hampden drinks far softer than the number suggests — several tasters call it smooth, well-integrated, even a touch too polite for the mark. Expect pineapple and banana up front, glue and solvent in the background, vanilla and a citrus tail. The recurring gripe is a bitterness in the finish that keeps a few people from top marks.
The community says- Fruity pineapple & banana
- ABV well integrated
- But: Bitter finish

How does Secret Cask Hampden Jamaican Rum (Der Gereifte) <>H 2001 taste?
Aggregated from 23 community reviews.
Fruity, smooth Hampden with a bitter finish Loved as a fruity, beautifully integrated Hampden that hides its ABV well. The common catch: a bitterness on the finish, and for some it's almost too smooth for the mark.

#4295 11.10.2023 Wow, this is a very nice rum and the price tag is pretty good at release. Fresh, fruity with esters and glue and well balanced and great ABV integration. The palate is intense and warming with nice fruit. The finish is long and warm with a nice citrus note. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has marzipan and light dried fruit.

A very nice continental matured 2001 Hampden. Nice fruity notes, quite a lot of cask sweetness and acidity well balanced. The alcohol is well integrated. The bitter notes are a little over the top, especially in the finish. This was also the small shortcoming of the Kill Devil.

Excellent part. A little too bitter for a top rating, but still...🤤

Nice ◇H from 2001, but I would say that this one was almost, if not completely, continental. Still very tasty, though. So it has what a ◇H must have. Very good, but not an absolute high-flyer for me.

In the glass, aromas of trop. Fruits, esters, vanilla, some glue and solvent, citrus fruits, slightly floral and fermented aromas. On the palate tropical fruits, spices, some licorice, subtle floral notes and a slight bitterness. Good Hampden!
Review by Schnubbii
Classic <>H profile, but very smooth and mellow, without rough edges. Without question a great Hampden, but almost a little too pleasing for my taste.
Review by PRV
Very cool, aged funk at the core. Machine oil, some dirty gasoline, olive brine, sour lemon fizz, spicy tropical vinegar and tart green tea. Ugh, so powerful in flavor. Sweet tropics, sweet-sour funk, salty olives, spicy tartness. Lingering aftertaste. Olive oil and tart olive pulp. On a cool, rainy day, this is just a balm for the soul!

really like this Hampden. The bottle is always empty. Very fruity with a hint of esters or polish, alcohol is well integrated; a well balanced rum on the fruity side.
