The Whisky Jury T.D.L 2002
One taster nailed it: this is basically "peach ice tea" with mint. That menthol-and-black-tea signature is pure TDL, joined by ripe peach, mango and a bit of blackcurrant, then toasted oak, spice and a faint dirty/oily edge on the finish. Most find it rounded and easy at 56%, though a few 2002 regulars feel it plays it safe next to the punchier 2003 batches.

Aggregated from 26 community reviews.
Peach-and-mint iced tea, rounded aged Trinidad Well-liked, well-balanced Trinidad sipper — peach, mint and black tea over toasted oak. Several long-time TDL drinkers find it very good but a touch too safe and familiar.

Small TDL (blind) crosstasting, including three representatives from 2002. 1st Rx24532 - Swell for Taiwan 55.9% 2. Rx24534 - TWJ 56.1% 3. Rx23409 - V&M 54,1% For me, the Swell has the most mint on the nose and almost goes in the direction of 2003 TDLs (April Batch). The TWJ is fruitier, has more spices and subtle mint. The V&M is very similar to the TWJ on the nose. I can't go into too much detail here, as the three are already very similar and even more so on the palate than on the nose. Everything you'd expect is there, but for me the 2002 TDLs just don't deliver. To me they feel like 2003 TDLs (the minty ones from the April batch), but with the handbrake on. They're all delicious, but they lack that certain something. Especially in view of the prices. Both the CDI TDL 2003 (Rx1629) and the "TDL light" (New Grove - Fine Spirits) were more convincing in a direct comparison (blind - mind you).

Tasted on a Sunday afternoon. (13/07/25) "What fruit!" - Enchanting nose, fresh, gourmand and very fruity. Notes of candied fruit (mango, passion fruit), also fresh with notes of red fruit, more blackcurrant. - This freshness is repeated on the palate, with the greediness of the fruit plus spicy, woody notes that add roundness. - Long finish To date, one of my great TDLs, led by this magical nose! Really no joke!

#5668 14.09.2025 Tasting in Copenhagen with good friends. Nose Fresh, medium intense, balanced, fruity, mint, wood, faint smoke, spice, light cherry, faint floral. Palate Oily, warm, balanced, naturally sweet, wood, light roasted, light chocolate, light cherry, mint, spice. Finish Very long, wood, fruits, light dried fruit, light nutmeg, light chocolate, mint. This rum only gets better as it stands on the table, I hand warmed mine and then the mint really excells.

Alkohol erstklassig

I'm really not used to this profile from tdl. Quite a sweet nose of yellow fruit and mango, caramel and spice, a little freshness. The palate is unsurprisingly the same as the nose, with a little more cask and a tar/saltiness that timidly shows its nose before settling in for the long haul. I really liked it!

A very complex drop. It reminds me of ice tea peach and mint, mango, with complementary rustic, earthy and oily notes. Also a hint of dirty notes. 87 points Nose: peach ice tea, mint, gradually more towards copper coins, tool workshop, oil, wood, baking spice. After that, mango and yellow fruit again. Constantly developing, complex and pleasing. Palate: Again, also after aeriation, ice tea peach and mint are on the foreground. Then mango, spice, and wood. A slight earthy notes, again a bit of copper and a tiny bit dirty. Finish: long, oily, very fruity but also a bit rustic, earthy, woody and again, a tad acidic, and the slightest dirty note.

8,7:On the nose, fresh, minty, fruity with blackcurrant, mango, peaches, spicy with allspice, toasted wood, slightly resinous, some rubber, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, metallic patina, creamy butterscotch and a bit flowery molasses, dark with black tea. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is a bit bitter, industrial with dirty notes, rubber, tar, fruity with peaches, mango, passion fruit, later dried apricots and citrus fruits, minty molasses, flowery, grassy, dark with black tea and hints of licorice. The wood is roasted with butterscotch, chocolate, roasted nuts, peppery. 8,4:The finish is long, dry&tannic, less balanced, coppery, dirty, industrial, fruity, the molasses is grassy, flowery, fresh with tea, minty, a bit sweet with hints of honey, dark with licorice, as the wood is roasted, spicy, slightly smoky.

Very fresh, gourmet nose. The palate is marked by blackcurrant, which adds a nice freshness. Spicy, woody notes round out the finish. A magnificent TDL, surely in my top 3.
