But this is a really strong spiced rum. It smells and tastes particularly wintry and like Christmas. Many Christmas spices such as cinnamon are recognizable here. Hard to drink neat, but certainly okay with cola.

Update: On further mixing not as good as John D. Taylor’s. Too light and watery, not substitutable with JDT in many classic recipes. Compared to JDT this has much stronger notes of almond and less lime. The biggest difference is that this is a spice bomb. Noticeable notes of cinnamon and even a whisper of aniseed (but think middle eastern Arak without licorice rather than Pernod or Pastis). This product directly targets tiki drinks and it really shows. Less searing and far less funky than John D. Taylor but way more spicy nuance of flavor. It could do with a little bit more concentration but just in terms of taste profile it is a decent choice for your alcoholic tiki falernum needs.
