Sip this neat and slow — at 65% it hits hard. Cask-strength MHOBA cane-juice rum with a liqueur finish that stacks glue and ester notes over baked apple, banana and a gummy-candy sweetness. One taster caught peach-jam and "sweet mulled wine"; others found the liqueur sweetness sits awkwardly on the funky base. Original, a little disjointed.

Day 14 of the Rum Friendly Club 2025 advent calendar. At first, a nose of esters and glue, but the fruits, baked apple and banana, are not far behind. The palate is marked by esters then quickly evolves into a somewhat cloying peach jam side. The finish also seems quite sweet. A rum that lacks harmony and unity in my opinion, too sweet as well but original.

That liqueur adds a lot. It's strange to taste weak Mhoba and suddenly get hit by the liqueur.
