CDI Overproof (Rhum Fest Paris 2025)
Anyone curious about a high-ester rum without the brute force of a big Jamaican will get on with this. It's floral and vegetal with clear banana on the nose, turning toward pineapple and citrus on the palate, and surprisingly sweet, almost syrupy. One taster pegged it as "a light Jamaican" — fruity and fermented but easygoing. A couple found a rubbery edge.

8,2:On the nose, flowery, vegetal, fermented molasses, overripe fruits like citrus (lime, mandarine), berries, pungent, smoky, brioche, esters, allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, banana is present, chocolate, caramel and herbaceous tones. 7,8:On the palate, the attack is pungent with esters, fermented, vegetal, flowery molasses, overripe, sour tropical fruits like pineapple, citrus fruits with lime, green fruits.When the rum is well oxidized, the molasses is fresh, flowery with rose, vegetal with mushrooms, spicy, sweet with maple, smoky tones and confectionery are out, some nuts, perhaps rubber. 7,9:The finish is medium long, dry, fermented fruits and vegetal(olive), grassy, spicy molasses complement each other, joined with plastic, soap and metallic patina, smoky whiff.

Palate Oily, fresh, fruity, overripe, banana, light berries, faint chocolate, light olive, faint salt. Finish Medium to long, light oily, fresh, fruity, spice, light olive, berries. Empty glass Vanilla, light chocolate, light caramel, faint pear.

Mountain time trial Tour de France ;-). I like it, it's predominantly herbal, flowery and floral. Clearly banana on the nose, then more pineapple on the palate. Just my thing. But why can it call itself overproof at 55%?

Vorab, das Teil als Mixer ist echt sehr lecker. Pur ist er in Ordnung. Überraschend süß und fruchtig. Für eine bessere Bewertung fehlt es ihm ein bißchen an den Prozenten. Glaube dann wäre er ein wirklich sauguter Mixer. Eher der easy Sommer Sipper Mixer.

Very floral and sweet, but not artificially sweet, almost slightly syrupy. Not particularly complex, but still very well made and delicious. Rather something for the summer. With water, banana and a slight spiciness are added.

Surprising! Very fruity and tart, which I wouldn't have expected from a rum from the Dominican Republic. It tastes a bit like a light Jamaican rum without the brute force. Very mild for 55%, so it's easy to drink. I like it!
