Famille Ricci Hampden Rare Single Cask JMLR 2016
You'd expect a wall of glue from a 66.6% Hampden, and this isn't it. JMLR is one of the distillery's lower-ester marks, so the funk sits in the background while overripe pineapple, buttery pastry and a lovely apple-cinnamon note lead. What surprises most tasters is the heat: the alcohol is remarkably well integrated for the proof. A couple of members still find it a touch hot early on, and it needs time in the glass.

How does Famille Ricci Hampden Rare Single Cask JMLR 2016 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Low-ester Hampden, gentler funk than the proof A well-behaved Hampden — most call it balanced and fairly priced, with the alcohol tamed better than the proof suggests. The recurring gripe: pleasant but not very complex.

#5921 04.11.2025 Enjoying a few samples in front of the TV. Nose Intense, fresh, light wood, fruity, light citrus, orange, light nutts, light ester, light floral. Palate Oily, medium intense, light wood, fruity, light ester, pineapple, light chocolate, light floral, light orange. Finish Long, wood, faint smoke, fruits, pineapple, light caramel, light nutts. Empty glass Caramel, chocolate, light nutts, light orange, light floral. Needs a good while in the glass to open up properly and for the ABV to settle.

Tasting at WLP 2025. JMLR for one of Hampden's well-known marks, but under a different name. It's a LROK, then, with few esters compared to the distillery's larger brands. 👃 More than rotten macerated fruit (pineapple, banana), and above all an expressive note of cinnamon apple, very pleasant. It's buttery, pastry-like and spicy, all with esters in the background. 😋 Alcohol very well integrated, one wonders where the watts are. Sweet esters, salty vanilla, spices, brine, light green olive. Tropical fruit in the background and still that lovely apple cinnamon flavor. ⛳ Warm, surprisingly sweet, buttery vanilla, pimento, bed of macerated fruit. 💡 The devil's not far away with this 66.6 in alcohol content and yet, the strong point of this selection is indeed its integration. Hats off to it. Otherwise, a rather conventional hampden, not very complex.

Runder vollmundiger hampden mit dem gängigen Profil am Gaumen: Ananas, Ester mit ein wenig Holz. Schön ausbalanciert. Sicher ein besserer Kandidat seiner Gattung. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Niveau. Kann man kaufen.
