Pusser‘s Rum 50th Anniversary Rum
Navy-rum drinkers and anyone who likes a spicy, slightly sweet sipper will feel at home here. Expect molasses, dark caramel, chocolate and dried fruit, with licorice and spice coming through at 54.5%. Several tasters place it near Guyana and Trinidad profiles. Most agree it's the best Pusser's they've had — just noticeably on the sweet side, and a couple find it thin on real depth.

How does Pusser‘s Rum 50th Anniversary Rum taste?
Aggregated from 75 community reviews.
Spicy, sweet navy rum at real strength Widely liked as the best Pusser's around and great value — spicy, dark and sweet. The common gripe: it reads sweetened and lacks depth, and some find the strength buries the flavor.

Pusser’s 50th Anniversary, was released to celebrate 50 years since the Black Tot Day. It’s limited to 4498 bottles and I was lucky to get three of the last bottles for sale in Europe. It’s a blend of rum from three different DDL stills (quite a lot from the Port Mourant wooden double pot still I believe) and two different Trinidad stills. The five different distillates, then Three years old, was thereafter blended at WIRD in Barbados and aged for four more years before bottled at ABV 54,5%, same ABV as for Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof.

Something simpler to round off our short vacation on the island of Föhr. Nose: Pleasant but somewhat restrained spicy-malty-woody aromas with molasses, vanilla, sweet licorice and a hint of aniseed. Sweetness also comes from dark caramel and chocolate raisins. Well-integrated alcohol. A little lacking in depth. 7,9 Palate: Spicy-sweet with treacle and burnt sugar. In addition, sweet, soft liquorice and tonka bean. A strong, soapy violet aroma is added. It seems sweetened to me. 7,9 A quaffable tipple. Probably even the best Pussers and with a top PLV at the time. But now too sweet for me.

Easily the best Pusser‘s you can (could) find besides some of the older Nelson‘s Blood expressions at increased ABV.

Sorry but: fuck the black tot anniversary editions. This is times really cool shit! Alcohol perfectly integrated, complex, spicy, intense and quaffable high 10. Surprising for a pussers! I find mega...🤤👏especially when you consider the RRP of under 50€!!!

The 31st of July, Black Tot day 2024. Raising a glass to the memory 🥃 This is a tasty navy strength rum, with aromas of dried fruits and a sweetness to the nose. I got some spicyness, chocolate and some toffee in the notes
Review by Lukas Jäger
Great blend for an interesting occasion and unbeatable PLV! The rum is very dry and spicy, but it also has a nice amount of fruit on the nose. As I had it as a blind sample, I initially expected an older Guyana. Not high-end, but very good and therefore interesting for beginners as well as advanced nerds.

A rum for the impatient😀. The nose promises a lot of sweetness and complexity. The palate is initially quite fruity and sweet and is then quickly replaced by spice and licorice. The finish could be a little longer. A clear recommendation from me here.

Pleasantly palatable navy rum with a little sweetness. Great PLV

I expected a bit more, but assume this also targets the mainstream market. It is well made and a bit on the sweeter side. Easy and pleasant to drink, the Alcohol is integrated well, but noticeable. Strong notes of Caramel. For the original price of ~50€ extremely good value for the money.

What can I say, I didn't think this rum would taste so sweet, but what the hell. You can definitely taste the chocolate and coffee, you can taste the alcohol at first, but then it's quickly gone again.
Review by Tschusikowsky
Very cool navy rum. Tree nuts, cinnamon, caramel, coffee, tiramisu, dried mango. Certainly a very good rum for the price.

Very Worthy Park nose, in my opinion. Fruit, roundness, nice vanilla. Light and caramelized. Darker on the palate, with a nice licorice note. Less complexity than the Black Tot tasted just before, but pleasant to drink.

in direct comparison with the Pusser's 50, the Black Tot 50 has a little more depth. On the nose are more red fruits and a slightly sour note, it also joins something musty. Whether this is due to the minimal proportions of 42-year-old Uitvlugt and original Navy Blend, I am not able to assess. The Pusser's 50, on the other hand, seems a bit more youthful, with a stronger accent on the caramel / vanilla notes. The finish is a little shorter than the Black Tot 50, but both are top Navy Rums and absolutely worthy of the special occasion.

I could see the rum being a bit sweetened, but overall it is a very well made blend that is fun to drink!
Review by Akos
It's got everything that the big ones have, but it's definitely thinner and less complex. Like the Americano next to the espresso. But easier to sip and easier to understand. Nuts, nutmeg, dried fruit and chocolate on the nose. On the palate, all this is echoed by a generous dose of caramel, some wood and liquorice. It leaves a warm, round, pleasant layer on the palate. Surprisingly smooth and slightly sweet. The finish is rich with nuts and some coffee.
Review by Stylo
For 50€ or so, it’s definitely worth the shot! Well balanced, you can definitely tell there is some Caroni inside, although it is mostly on the nosing side. Overall, a great sipping rum!

Read full review →It is certainly giving me food for thought about an increased ABV Pusser's 15 Year Old. It's every bit as good as I hoped it would be and if you like Pussers or Navy style rum in general you will really enjoy the bottling. Fantastic stuff. Up Spirits!
Expert review by The Dunder Hut
Rather unspectacular for a praised product I find it better than regular pussers but still too sweet for me and honestly not that interesting, reminds me a bit of old lambs and that is not a flattering comparison.
