Famille Ricci Unique Blend No. 3 2025
Peat and smoke hit first, so much so that a few members couldn't find the rum underneath. This is a cask-strength Guyana/Trinidad blend double-aged in whisky barrels, and that Islay-style influence runs the whole show — smoke, molasses, bitter orange, roasted wood, a dry finish. At 61.4% it's heavy going. People here split hard: some love the peaty turn, others just taste whisky.

Tasted quickly at Rhum Fest Paris, notes to review. I'm a little more divided on this cuvée, as rum in whisky barrels isn't really my thing at the moment. That said, there are some lovely citrus aromas, particularly orange, which I appreciated. Sounds like a gamble

Famille Ricci Unique Blend X-Tasting #3: Die Nase deutet es schon an mit tropischen Früchten, Holz und Rauch - ein Whisky Finish. Im Gaumen und Abgang überwiegt dieses vollumfänglich; ganz leicht ist noch Blutorange angedeutet. Muss man mögen - ich nicht

I can't really identify the base ingredient because a peaty finish masks the rum. It's well integrated, but unfortunately not my cup of tea.
