Sipped neat, this is a divisive one: briny green olive up front, then sour red fruit, strawberry, young oak and a whiff of solvent that a few tasters likened to fruit schnapps. An AGA blend of agricole and Grand Arôme, and its youth shows. Funky and mineral, with a dry, sometimes bitter finish and heat that not everyone found fully tucked in.

Un jeune Savanna avec une sacré influence du chais humide. Au début on est plutôt une surprenante eau de vie de fruits, et après on oscille entre boisé et fruits rouges, un peu de saumure.. La finale évolue sur l’olive. Jeune mais complexe tout de même. Édit : nouvelle dégustation, plus intense et vernis qu’à mon souvenir, toujours très bon, il faut lui laisser le temps de s’ouvrir ! Edit 2 : soirée Savanna x RumX : plus fruité qu'a mon souvenir, et encore meilleur aussi. Aussi plus d'olive peut être.

#5837 26.09.2025 Savanna tasting from Paris while attending the Whisky Live 2025. Nose Medium intense, fresh, fruity, light wood, cherry, faint mint, light floral, light ester. Palate Medium intense, medium spicy, light wood, light ester, light floral, banana, spice. Finish Very long and light spicy with some tannins, fruits, light citrus, light cherry.

Dieser Rum hat ein sehr spezielles und ungewöhnliches Profil. Ein Hauch wie Knallmunition aus einer Spielzeugpistole. Auch alte Möbel oder ein Antiquitätenladen kommen einem in den Sinn. Am Gaumen wirkt der Rum süss mit Noten von Beeren, Traubenzucker, mineralisch und einem leichten Plastikton, dazu im Hintergrund Erbeere. Die Trinkstärke ist sehr gut, der Alkohol ist optimal eingebunden. Leider fällt der Abgang eher kurz aus.

Das junge Alter merkt man sowohl an der Nase als auch an Gaumen. Junges Eichenholz, Cognac, Olivenlake und sehr säuerliche Noten die an unreife Erdbeeren erinnern. Das gesamt Aromenspiel wirkt für mich einfach nicht stimmig und auch die Alkohol Integration könnte besser sein. zu jung und zu unausgewogen, zu scharf und vor allem zu sauer. Mehr Zeit im Fass hätte hier eventuell geholfen.

Savanna Masterclass. Mir gefällt dieser Rum. Ist sehr mineralisch in der Nase. Olive und (überreife) Früchte sind erkennbar. Olive und tropische Früchte bleiben am Gaumen, etwas Holz kommt auch noch hinzu.

Un Savanna plus jeune par rapport aux autres embouteillages Art of Rum, et cela se ressent. Le nez est assez expressif avec des notes de fruits tropicaux et rouges et des agrumes bien mûrs, de l’olive, des épices et une légère senteur de fumé. L’influence du cognac se fait ressentir et donne un côté alcoolique au nez. Le profil olfactif est varié mais manque un peu de structure et d’intégration des arômes qui se mélangent pêle-mêle entre eux. La bouche est un peu du même acabit, il y a des arômes mais l’ensemble tombe un peu en désuétude. On retrouve la fraise et les fruits exotiques, l’olive, un peu d’épices et quelques notes herbacées qui tirent sur la canne. Le cognac est présent et le profil est plus sec et amer qu’au nez. L’alcool n’est pas mal intégré mais le profil est loin d’être transcendant et harmonieux. La finale n’est pas la plus marquante avec ses quelques notes d’épices, d’olive, de cognac et de fraise mûr. Elle garde ce côté sec et amer mais ce n’est clairement pas le meilleur souvenir, les arômes s’estompant rapidement. Un rhum qui n’est pas fondamentalement mauvais, mais Savanna nous a habitué à mieux pour ce genre de cuvée. Quelques années de vieillissement supplémentaires n’auraient pas été de trop.

Zusammen an dem Abend parallel mit dem by Yann probiert. Leider war dieser auch nicht viel besser und für mich auf jedenfall nichts wo ich eine Flasche bräuchte. Danke RumX fürs Savanna Sample Set übrigens.

Savanna tasting on September 26, 2025 – Eight samples were tasted and expertly explained. The Savanna hype somehow passed me by again, but it was a really great event. Many thanks to RumX and the Savanna team – more of this, please! The Savannas are true experts and craftsmen. Complex, 60% ABV, flattering on the palate. Working with different styles such as Creole, Traditional, and HERR leads to a diversity that few distilleries offer. Everything is top-notch! Second sample REPY. Slightly less spice and more fruit than Le Must. More drinkable and better overall.

Typical Savanna markers with strawberry and olive are present. The nose also has fermented, tropical, and citrus fruits. It is somewhat reminiscent of fruit brandy. Wood and a little bitterness are added on the palate. Alcohol is well integrated. Not a particularly outstanding representative of Savanna.

On the nose with fermented fruit, wood, olive, tea, and a hint of paprika and floral notes. On the palate, it has a surprising aroma of roasted nuts and chocolate, which accompanies the aroma spectrum of the nose. Added to this is a firm spiciness in the finish, which comes from the alcohol on the one hand, but also reminds me of chili and therefore takes a little getting used to. Overall, a complex, balanced, and intense rum — very good.

Sehr zurückhaltende Nase Tropische Früchte Honig etwas Ingwer. Alkohol gut eingebunden. Am Gaumen erster Eindruck 58%??? Hätte deutlich weniger geschätzt. Etwas Frucht etwas Holz ... irgendwie nicht spannend aber gut Trinkbar. Preis finde ich hier zu hoch.

Floral geprägtes Profil mit leichten Noten von Blüten, frischer Frucht und einer dezenten Süße. Am Gaumen lebendig, aber der Alkohol tritt etwas zu scharf hervor und überdeckt die feineren Nuancen. Würzige und leicht grasige Anklänge bringen Struktur, wirken jedoch kantig. Der Abgang ist mittellang mit floraler Note, insgesamt kein schlecht gemachter Rum, für mich aber unausgewogen.

Probiert in der RumX-Masterclass am 26.09.25: Spannend, weil sehr floral und bitter. Eine sehr prägnante Note, möglicherweise Olive. Dazu Bitterorange und vergorene Früchte. Gut, aber für mich ein schwacher Savanna.

Die merklich junge Mischung aus Agricole und Grand Arome weist einige pflanzliche Aromen auf, welche mit säuerlichen Früchten und pikanten Gewürzen Gegenwind bekommen. On the nose distinguishably sweet-soury-salty olive water, quite mineral, even lightly smoky, I don't really get much fruit, maybe hints of red fruits and hints of minty freshness. The taste is quite sharp, herbal, the olives continue here but noticeably backgrounded, sweeter and fruitier notes become more dominant. Not bad, quite well balanced, but still VAST is still the best one in this art series.

Ein bisschen scharfkantig ist der schon. Das kommt als erstes zum Vorschein. In der Nase sowie am Gaumen. Sehr fruchtig und floral. Mit langem Abgang, der mir ganz gut gefällt. Um ehrlich zu sein, hier hatte ich mehr erwartet.

An der Nase viel Frucht mit viel verkohlten Holz. Etwas scharfes und stechendes liegt ebenfalls in der Nase. Ganz rund ist das nicht. Im Mund trocken bitter, zwar fruchtig, aber wieder starke Schlagseite zu Fass, Gewürze, dunkle Schokolade. Überzeugt mich nicht wirklich.

Very idiosyncratic bottling from Savanna. Unfortunately, it's not mine. The alcohol is not well integrated. Fruity on the palate with a plastic note. Something sour about it. The best thing is the nose. It briefly raised hopes of a Grand Arome.

small, private Savanna Coss tasting 2025-07-10: Basically, I can get something out of most Savanna bottlings, but I don't really warm to this one. Nose. The palate and finish are mainly reminiscent of a fruit brandy. The alcohol is not really well integrated.

Oceňuju projekt a snahu udělat něco nového, ale tohle si svou cenu neobhájí. Ve vůni ovoce, olivy, přezrálá pálenka, z chuti vystupuje dřevo a jahody. Celkově bych řekl, že je rum spíš zajímavý než že bych se těšil na otevřenou láhev.

L’originalité ne s’arrête pas à l’étiquette : on est ici sur un assemblage inédit AGA (Agricole + Grand Arôme avant vieillissement), distillé en 2019, élevé 6 ans en fûts ex-Cognac en chai humide, et embouteillé à 57 %. 2 400 bouteilles au total. 👃 Nez Puissant, très “Savanna Grand Arôme” : olive verte, fumée, fruits tropicaux, avec un boisé discret et une minéralité saline en toile de fond. 👅 Bouche Expressive et funky : olive, fraise, eau-de-vie de fruits, avec des nuances de d’épices, notes florales et une petite pointe salée. 📝 Mon ressenti Honnêtement, je l’ai trouvé un peu trop jeune, trop porté sur l’olive, et avec une amertume un peu envahissante. Pas ma came, clairement. Mais les amateurs de profils très “funky” y trouveront peut-être leur bonheur

17/09/2025: online Savanna Masterclass by Rhumlicious. Savanna Art of Rum is a blend of Agricole rhum and some Grand Arôme. It's a young Savanna where the alcohol could be integrated a bit better. Not my favorite of the evening.
