Sipped neat, this drinks as a clairin-first Haitian: floral, citrusy and cane-forward, with that telltale glue note and a whiff of marzipan. Dry and slightly astringent on the palate, with the alcohol tucked in well despite the strength. The much-advertised Caroni cask? Most tasters barely find it — a little tar and leather emerge only after a long rest in the glass.

Dry, floral clairin; Caroni cask barely shows Well-liked as an elegant, dry clairin with lovely floral-citrus character. The recurring gripe: the Caroni cask is nearly invisible, so don't buy it for that.

Der Vieux Vaval ist fruchtig (Zitrus), leicht medizinisch, bringt relativ viele Säure mit, etwas Marzipan. Der Alkohol ist gut integriert. Etwas Holzeinfluss, aber vom Caroni-Cask merke ich allerdings nichts.

Ja, der ist schön. Hier ist mir das Fass auch nicht zu aufdringlich. Am Gaumen recht trocken und adstringierend. Von den Vieux Vaval, die ich bisher probieren konnte mein Favorit. Eine schöne runde Sache, Alkohol ist auch gut eingebunden, recht elegantes Teil.

Clairin enttäuscht selten,- auch dieser hier ist wieder toll gelungen. Schön florale Noten, fruchtig …und eine überragende Nase. Der Alkohol ist perfekt eingebunden. Die Zitrusfrüchte kommen im Abgang nochmal richtig hoch.

Ich suche nach dem Einfluss des Caroni-Fasses, finde den aber nicht. Trotzdem gefällt mir die Abfüllung ganz gut. Die Nase ist sehr angenehm, fruchtig (Zitrusfrüchte), würzig und mit viel Klebstoff. Ähnliche Noten am Gaumen

Caroni kann ich nicht wirklich rausschmecken. Der Haiti ist sehr gut, fruchtig, Marzipan.

Zajímavý stařený rum z Haiti, hodně navoněný (květiny, kandované ovoce, citrusy), do chuti se trochu propisuje vliv Caroni sudu, ale rozhodně to nepřebíjí původní destilát. Aktuální aukční cenu bych za něj nedal, ale nezklame.

Olives or more like vinegary, sugarcane, floral, spices, especially my favourite anise, something technical/chemical, light fruits. These last two Velier bottlings (with Le Rocher ex-Blanton) are really top notch.
