Hampden Great House (Distillery Edition 2025)
What surprises people here is how fruity and drinkable a 57% Hampden pot-still can be. Nail polish, banana and ripe pineapple lead, with glue, olive brine and a touch of marzipan behind. The alcohol sits perfectly integrated, the texture is oily, the finish long and a bit medicinal-dry. Most agree it's a clear step up from the 2024, if not quite the beloved 2020-2021 editions.

This is my first experience with the Hampden Great House and I loved it. What strikes me is that it's wonderfully soft and fruity ( banana and pineapple) on the nose, with some menthol and esters, no harsh edges, and the alcohol is well-integrated. This is precisely what comes through on the palate. Deliciously soft fruit, a touch mischievous but not overpowering. The alcohol is well-integrated. Everything comes through smoothly and oily making it easy to drink and a relaxed pleasure. A medium-long finish and a little dry.

Great House 2025: finally a very good bottling again after the disappointments of recent years. On the nose, wonderful fruit notes with baked pineapple and marzipan. On the palate, initially the same aromas, then young wood, some tannins, and spice follow. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish is medium-length and leans more towards a medicinal bitterness. All in all, a great, highly recommended bottling that offers the real Jamaica feeling. Had it in the glass again yesterday and have to say, it’s really good. The blend is perfect once again.

Kraftvoll, fehlt an Komplexität, wenig Holz, zu teuer.

Distillery visit Hampden Estate September 2025. I bought this Greathouse 2025 locally, I guess a bit cheaper than in Germany. Not an outstanding Hampden, but still great with the typical notes such as esters and tropical fruits (pineapple and banana).

First impression, detailed report to follow. For me, the curve definitely goes back up after the Great House 2024. But unfortunately, it doesn't come close to my favorites from 2020 and 2021. Still, it's more than solid in a Mai Tai and with cola.
Review by DomM
For me much more enjoyable than the 2024 iteration. Nicely balanced on the nose between fruity and roasted/more spice forwards notes. There is good amount funk to the nose without being overwhelming. Nice! Comparably fresh on the palate, dominated by fruits and some sweetness. Presents a bit „younger“ profile without feeling to young or rough. Nice blend overall. Looking at a little side by side, this one is on par with the 2023 bottling. Both are noticably younger than the 2019-2021 bottlings but still a very nice Hampden blend at a good price point overall.

Hampden GH 2025 In May Tai, it already delivers a stable performance and for me is very high up among all the GHs released so far. Nose lots of ester nail polish and light menthol... Lots of fruit and well-integrated alcohol. Hardly surprising on the palate, but stable, fruity, spicy and less youthful than expected. What I particularly like is that it doesn't have the often heavy bitterness. All in all, no surprise but still solid and easy to drink.

8,7:On the nose, esters and nail polish, tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, some citrus fruits, vegetal molasses with briny olive, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is herbaceous, flowery, the wood is roasted, spicy, some pear might be present. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, varnish, glue, fruity with overripe, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, on oxidation joined by red and citrus fruits, the olive is briny, the wood roasted with caramel, pastry, spicy. 8,7:The finish is long, dry&tannic, very medicinal, but balanced, fruity with tropical fruits, pears and raspberries. The wood is roasted with confectionery, spicy, salty, vegetal with olive.

GH Tasting 2023–24–25 Second place.…. The 2025!: This one is lovely – esters, a bit of glue, spices, olive brine mixed with a nice sandal wood note. On the palate this one is quite sweeter with a touch of butterscotch. The alcohol is well integrated.
Review by Chrischi78
ABV gut eingebunden. Ein guter Vertreter der Great House Serie.
Review by Manuel
Great House 2025 fits in well with its many predecessors. Typical estery notes with fruity hints of pear. Alcohol really very well integrated. The finish is also noticeably long. Solid overall package.
Review by TheRhumhoe
Great House 2025 is a distillation of what Hampden does best, always in this rich and powerful style. The nose speaks of the funk of esters, nail polish, and solvents, with a touch of vinegar that might sound pejorative, but not here. The fruit is abundant, rivaling the exoticism and character of pineapple, banana, berries, orange, and lime. The influence of wood is very succinct. A lovely, well-boosted nose. The palate is very pleasant, with the fruits evoked on the nose even more present. The ester notes, ranging from nail polish to brine and solvents, give body to the rum, which fills the palate with its oily texture and sweet fermented aroma, slightly pastry-like (marzipan) and subtly woody. The alcohol is very well integrated, making it very drinkable. The finish is long, intensely marked by funk and tropical fruits. Marzipan, medicinal notes, and roasted nuances complete a profile that becomes drier and firmer on the finish. A very good Great House that raises the bar slightly from previous editions, which fell slightly short of the standards set by the first editions.

#6365 18.02.2026 Relaxing with some samples after a slow day at work and a good afternoon on the bike. The latest release og the Great House series and it is a pretty OK one though the prices are going up each year. Fruity with some spices and glue. I like the Anise note that is hidden in the profile.
Review by Tom Buteneers
First impression: it appears to belong to the better GH expressions. Lots of banana, esters well balanced in the profile. Typical Hampden notes in the nose without too much alcohol. On the palate lovely tropical fruits, quite well rounded despite the bottle has only just been opened. To be continued…

Holzaromen sehr gut vertreten. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden!
Review by Boletus
Review by abaker-rum
A very pronounced intensity nose like all Hampden rums, a great mix of over ripe tropical fruit with funky ester notes. The palate is also intense but the 2025 comes through a bit lighter to me than past great house releases. It is very good, but a little more muted than what I was expecting.

#1738 07-03-2026 - Rate 8.1 Whiskymessen Kolding 2026 This is the second best Great House botteling I have tasted, after the 2022 edition. Great Hampden nose. Lots of ester, glue and polish. Nice taste that follows the nose very close 06-06-2026 - Rate 8.2

Review by Serge
This is pleasing ... the Great House range is making a little more effort again in 2025 after the failure in 2024. It is fruity, spicy and then becomes medicinal and bitter on the finish. It doesn't come close to the better releases in the series, but it's good midfield.
Review by Nils123
Very fruity and, in my opinion, very little wood and spice, but still not one-dimensional. This makes it dangerously drinkable, so that you want to pour more. 😉 The alcohol is perfectly integrated.
Review by Jussi Piirainen
The Hampden Great House 2025 is blend of 40% LFCH 2020, 20% HLCF 2020, 20% HGML 2020 and 20% <>H 2021. I have tasted Great House releases from 2020 to 2024, 2020 being my favorite, lets see where this release lands. On the nose: Its quite far away from typical Jamaican rum in my opinion, especially after some it opens up and earthy, vegetal and brine notes take over the palate. Mild esters and glue notes. Spicy and woody notes. And light soy sauce note? Taste:Oily, fermented and slightly dirty mouthfeel. Light earthy notes. Esters. Glue. It then evolves to somekind of medicinal note. Some brine notes and light citrus notes in the background. Abv is integrated very well. Finish: Medicinal, light rubber and tannings. Mouthfeel is dry with little bit of salt . On a blind tasting it would not have guessed that this is a Jamaican rum. Still good for what it is, a rum for open minded explorer. Not in a level of Great House 2020.

Solider Jamaica Hampden blend. Bringt alles mit was man von Hampden erwartet. Reife Ananas und Banane, Olivenlake, Marzipan und Stollenkonfekt. Alkohol gut Integriert.

Review by Martin Augustin

Obere 8.
Review by Martin Mihaly
Really great rum. Nice intense nose, ester-fruity (pineapple, a bit of banana). Delicious on the palate, tasty oily texture, alcohol well integrated. Genuine ester-fruity flavor with menthol notes. Very smooth, long, and spicy finish.

Great House 2025, leider wieder mal ein Must-Have.

Definitely one of the better GHs!

Whisky Live Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm the score and notes At first taste, the blend is better than previous 3 releases, more fruity and with a nice kick from esters. Need to see the developement in the bottle for a while before to confirm my scores.

Bitte weiter so!

Hampden Great House Masterclass at LMDW 2025, vertical tasting of 2020 through 2025 Blends: It is my favorite out of all the Blends. Young, complex, fruity, spicy and funky.
Review by Michal S
A solid Jamaica, as with the previous 2024, it falls a little short of the best Great House (for me, 2020). On the nose, a classic Hampden combo of tropical fruit and esters, the taste doesn't surprise, varnish and wood are added. OK drinking.

Review by Peter Sjoroos
An "extreme" rum, almost smells Caroni. Very dark and musky, not the "usual way H has been going with the GH series. Not exactly" my" style, but of course it's quality straight through.

Review by TheCelticRumFan
Nose: Varnish, ripe banana, pineapple, rubber, cinnamon, cardamom, shoe polish, almond, marshmallow Mouth: Leather, pineapple, popcorn, ripe banana, menthol, nail polish, light peppercorn Finish: Slow uplifting light burn, flavour begins heavy and decays gradually to a medium long finish For me, the best part of this is the nose. It's got that very heavy industrial and fruity ester concentration thanks to the higher marks. However, the palate feels just a little lacking. It's quite fresh but doesn't have the huge character I was expecting from a blend including a 60% equal parts combination of HLCF, HGML and C<>H. Perhaps the marks were all fighting for their place and some notes of interest got lost in the battle. Ignoring my expectations from such heavy esters, this is still a lovely bottle. The nose really saves this, but the palate isn't exactly light either. It has a very good balance with some nice punchy fruit notes and a gentle soft burn with an enjoyable finish. While it's not up there in my favourites of the Great House series, I'm still definitely glad to have it in my collection.

Review by R Dricken
Great Hampden offering. I don’t regret buying the bottle, but to be honest I don’t think the liquid justified the $30-40 price jump over the HLCF Classic. I think the taste and quality margin is pretty thin between the two, so you’re just left with the price as the main differentiator, which is a bummer.
Review by ManuelP
Wonderful but I was disappointed that it wasn’t stranger. Relatively tame for Hampden but I think with the amount of oak that’s whst they’re going for.
