A.F.D. Ron Barceló Imperial Rare Blend Mizunara Cask
One taster called this "an appreciable improvement on the regular Imperial," and that's the story: the Mizunara cask piles baking spice, incense, ginger and char onto Barceló's sweet caramel-vanilla-coconut base. Several find it woody and roasted with cocoa and coffee coming through. A couple note the alcohol isn't fully tucked in, but at 43% it drinks velvety and easy.

How does A.F.D. Ron Barceló Imperial Rare Blend Mizunara Cask taste?
Aggregated from 45 community reviews.
Spicy, woody upgrade on sweet Barceló Most see the Mizunara version as the best Barceló — spicy, woody, lightly smoky over the usual coconut-caramel sweetness. The catch: a few feel the alcohol could be better integrated.

Great stuff. I love mizunara in whisky and it works wonders in this rum too. Woody. Oaky. Spicy. Lovely. 43% abv is a great addition too.

Thanks to Chris..

Gelungenes Finish!👏🏼

This an appreciable improvement on the regular Imperial. The Mizunaro oak adds complexity with baking spice, incense, and char notes to the sweet caramel and vanilla profile of the Barcelo Imperial. Would reach for this pour again.

Courtesy of RumX. This rum invites you with its strong alcoholic and spicy taste. Overall it smells sweet (vanilla) and then a little woody. The alcohol masks a lot so you do have to pay attention. When you taste it, brace yourself, it is very spicy and alcoholic. It completely caught me off guard (even after I have been drinking rum for over ten years). I would primarily recommend it for mixers as it needs to be diluted a bit. The flavour it brings will surely give a much needed punch in the cocktails. I only recommend it to experienced rum tasters unless you add a bunch of sweetness to it :)

Gute Einsteigerrum! Viel Fasseinfluss mit Vanillinnoten, nicht gesüßt. Von Mizunara kann ich nichts schmecken. Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein.

Quite strong on palate, given that's only 40%, bold, full taste with a hint of sweeteness.

I like Mizunara the best of all Barcelo rums. Spicy notes and coconut
