Velier Foursquare & Hampden Veritas Blended Rum
Poured into a daiquiri, this is where it earns its reputation — estery banana, coconut and green fruit with real Jamaican funk balanced by soft Barbados creaminess. Sipped neat at 47% it's fruity and a touch gluey, with young-wood spice and warmth some find a bit sharp. Several tasters call it the "best inexpensive english style" white blend around.
The community says- Superb daiquiri rum
- Jamaican funk, banana

Great quality blend of young rums. Lots of tasting notes which are easy to pick out. Plenty of funky fruitiness on the nose (coconut, pineapple, banana) which feels dominated by the Hampden. On the palate the Foursquare comes through to balance the Hampden. I get coconut, funky, creamy, pepper, vanilla, crème brûlée and banana. Medium to long finish of vanilla, spice, banana and sweetness.

Also highly recommended neat for the price - an absolute cracker. Really nice banana and green fruit on the nose. Top mixer that I always have a bottle of at home. The best in white from Jamaica and Barbados combined.

Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Jeden z rumu, ktere "must try before die"

A very light, almost white rum. The nose is marked by Jamaica, very ripe banana esters and a touch of glue. The palate is balanced and the Foursquare brings a little sweetness. The finish is not so short, and funky, fruity aromas linger long enough. A fine rum that lacks complexity, but given the price it's incredibly good.

Kneipe The Rumah Rotterdam April 2026.

Cocktails, a boardgame, friends. I took the liberty to review this old gem of mine, used mostly in Tiki Drinks. It does shine there, makes a good Daiquiri and is shippable on its own. Granted: at first it was not as good as now, but usually oxidation helps in such cases and I find this fresh and delicious. The Hampden Part is very noticeable, the Alkohol not overpowering and the taste very fruity. Update: it is empty now, sadness ensues. After being open so long the rum got very much different than at the beginning: smoother, sweeter, more fruit. It seems counter intuitive that i would reduce its score, but I must add that I am adjusting it only to fit my current experiences... As this was one of the very first Rums i reviewed here.

Nose and taste are clearly different. On the nose rather fresh, overripe red fruit and orange peel. Then in the mouth ginger, vanilla, unexpectedly sweet, some coconut. In the finish then also young wood and white chocolate.

08.12.2018 Had a wonderful meet up with old and new friends at this wonderful hotel. Notes. Light in colour. Nose: Intense, pineapple, fruitcake, spice, ester. Palate: fresh, ester, fruity, pineapple, light coconut, caramel. Finish: medium long, dry, warm, fruity.
Review by Serge
From a certain level of experience, it's no longer really one to drink straight. But that's not what it's designed for. An inexpensive mixer for lighter daiquiris - classic without high ester spikes. The pot colum blend has a slightly alcoholic note but also nice Jamaican fruit notes and coconut on the Barbados side. A great out of the box option to go light, but not quite easy
Review by Chrischi78
A wonderful component for a Ron Collins and certainly also for everything else that needs a good white rum, it can be made in very good quality. Funky and with tasty citrus notes, it is also perfectly suitable neat. Cheers
Review by Gregor
Great distillate. Lots of green banana and ester and at the same time spicy tones and that despite the short storage. The 47 goes quite well with this rum. A clear drinking recommendation from me. The taste is quite lengthy.
Review by Tim
Tasted at the GRF23 at the Velier tasting. Interesting blend from Jamaica and Barbados. The nose is dominated by Jamaica (esters, fruit), while the Barbados component (caramel, coconut) seems to come through in the mouth.
Review by Paul Christiaens
Nose: quick settlement after an estery start on nail polish remover. Coconut oil, a bit of sugar, then vanilla cream then grass. Maybe a hint of pineapple and pear. A bit waxy, but rather restrained. T: The esters are more prominent now, mainly on ripe pineapple and papaya. A bit of white pepper intertwined with sugar, some alcohol, coconut, grass, vanilla. Tastes a bit alcoholic, and not so outspoken. F: continues on pepper and sugar, alcohol, vanilla, coconut and just a hint of tropical fruit. I can see why this is a good mixing rum. To enjoy it on itself, it's nice but lacks specific key characteristics 6.5

Veritas does it !
Review by Eric Frechin
Finale plate, courte . Je le reserverais pour des cocktails.
Review by Godspeed
To me this is the best inexpensive english style white rum blend on the market. Foursquare column still and Hampden pot still (both low age obviously) makes for a great expression. Also it avoids the glueyness that sometimes plagues low aged jamaicans. My go-to white rum in the english style.
Review by Julien Ries

What a great rum to mix. Jamaica and Barbados. Great. The rum has plenty of strength and gives the cocktail that certain something. My price-performance recommendation for every daiquiri :)
Review by lukasdrinkinghabits
The first impression is dominated by the fruity ester aromas. And you expect a certain Jamaican dominance, but then you have mainly Foursquare in the mouth: vanilla, toffee, chocolate, the soft fruit of ripe pears. The Jamaican ester notes remain excellently integrated bring that extra oomph and complexity over the pure white Foursquare rums. In a daiquiri, it makes just as fantastic an impression as neat. A great rum.
Review by Torsten vom Endt
Good blend rum with a very good price-performance ratio. Fruit predominates on the nose, with spicy notes on the palate. The finish is short and mild. The alcohol is well integrated and not predominant. Good to enjoy neat, with each sip revealing something new

An excellent rum for drinking solo as well as in drinks. Very drinkable and tastes good to those not versed in the world of rums. Excellent price to quality. A must have among rums.

Finally tried on the 11th GRF and positively surprised. Top PLV and thus very well suited especially for simple standard cocktails

Nice mixer. Not more not less.
Review by thomas fraboulet
Funky & fruity. The aftertaste tastes like rumfire, a bit acetone bitter. Fantastic in a daiquiri. After some time & oxydation, the rum tastes quite differently, a lot less bitter and more round/fruity. I believe it is the most flavourful white rum of the market, with Ten to One.
Review by Michael Schillheim
Tried at the 11th GRF: very good blender, which can also convince pure.
Review by Martin Augustin
Good unaged rum for pure enjoyment.
Review by ordogh
Surprisingly round and well balanced rum. Nice fruits and spices, clean aromas. For sipping as well.
Review by Rumpalumpa
This stuff is totally great. In my opinion, it's actually primarily for cocktails, where it can add a lot of character to fresh and simple drinks. But it's also delicious on its own, as the esters and glue don't knock you out, but are supported by the sweet Barbados base.
Review by Rumantisch
Review by Decky Hicks Doughty
The nose is very funky. Lots of estery banana with sweet vanilla in the background. The palate is just as funky as the nose. If I'm honest, I was expecting something a bit nicer from the nose. It's almost at the level of a Haitian Clarins with its fermented taste but not quite as smooth. The finish evens out to a pleasant banana with a touch of spice. It's nice but I do prefer That Boutique-y's Signature #1 and the Haitian rums that I've tried.
Review by Alan Bertoli
Colore quasi bianco, giallo chiaro.

Ashes on my head that this greatness passed me by for so long. Funky, fruity, fresh, complex on the nose. It's amazing what's going on here and how multi-layered it is. Pure then ginger, orange and heaps of unexpected, warmer aromas. Lots of funk for a white, some glue but above all fruit. 'Perfect daiquiri rum' sums it up exactly. Lime fits perfectly here, a hint of sweetness makes the whole thing blossom. A must on the shelf. Lime peel oil is the absolute insider tip and jackpot here. It makes for a colossal board.
Review by EnjoyLife89
First, a vanilla scent accompanied by glue wafts out of the glass. This is followed by bananas and green fruit. There is a subtle hint of ginger throughout. The taste is much sweeter than expected. Sticky, followed by vanilla and a light coconut note. Fresh fruit is in the foreground. Candied ginger joins in. Light spices in the finish, ginger with a nutty note. I originally come from the world of whisky and have to admit that rum is just as much fun.

Nose: Lite & elegance. Sweet bananas, cream, white flowers, ginger, young wood, orange zest. Simple but nice. Taste: Round but spicy. Sweet cream Brulee, banana, vanilla, tropic fruits, young wood & little bit of ginger. Sharp & young, but still tasty. Aftertaste: medium. Dominate of young wood, banana, ginger & cream brulee. Recommend add few drops of water. Still good rum for this price.
Review by Montana
The smell is fruity-sweet, slightly spicy, somewhat reminiscent of a whisky. The taste is also fruity-sweet, slightly alcoholic and burning, somewhat woody (again reminiscent of a whisky). A very good rum for the price!

Excellent in almost anything I put it in, great single bottle mixer with hints of many layers of flavors. For the price this is an excellent choice, can't find a fault with it.
Review by Han
Oops, in the first minute there's a strong smell of fish market (I've never had that before), but it disappears very quickly and after a few minutes in the glass the smell of red fruit, above all raspberry, is released. The taste is very different again, slightly woody and mature and surprisingly sweet like powdered sugar.
Review by TheTobias
Simple well done fruity blend. Not very komplex but easy to enjoy. I like to drink it neat but does also work very well as a mixer in rum based cocktails. The pricing is unbeatable so I really recommend this on.
