Isautier 10 Ans d’Âge Rhum Vieux
Ten years in oak, but it drinks lighter than that sounds. Expect dried prunes, raisins, pepper and a little toffee, with a fresh, grassy cane edge underneath. Several tasters found it pleasant and mildly complex, then wished for more punch — at 40% the flavors read a touch diluted. A quiet, dry-leaning agricole rather than a bold one.

How does Isautier 10 Ans d’Âge Rhum Vieux taste?
Aggregated from 43 community reviews.
Dry, raisin-forward aged agricole, a bit light Most find it a decent, fruity-woody aged agricole with raisin and spice. The recurring gripe: the low ABV thins it out, so flavors feel diluted and the finish comes up short.

Color: Orange brown Odor: Sweet aromatic of toffee and caramel or butterscotch with some orange. Slightly smoky. Coffee and woody aromas emerge. Taste: Mild and slightly spicy in the mouth. Spicy on the swallow and then briefly comes a surge of toffee and caramel. Flavors of caraway and anise. In addition, woody. Finish: Medium length Dry, peppery and woody. 80 points

Pas fan des agricoles de ce type! Pas mon type de rhum

A slightly lean, herbaceous, raisin nose, with a hint of candy and bourbon. The palate is a little acqueous and light, but beautiful fruit appears and the finish has some length on dried fruit/raisins.

Overall an OK rum without having that little extra. This is a Agricole from the Isautier Distillery in Reunion aged for 10 years in new French oak barrels. The nose is rather complex, fruity, woody and spicy. At the palate the spiciness dominates together with woody notes.

Hmm, for a ten-year-old already quite expressive. Found the rum with its power and unobtrusive sweetness, which was felt especially in the finish, pure really not bad. In a cocktail probably a challenge.Must I try again on occasion.

#4005 This is my first drinkable Isautier. I usually use their younger rums in drinks and baking. This one is not bad at all but I think it's a rum you may forget pretty fast. The nose is peppery/spicy with candied fruit, wood and vanilla. The palate tags along pretty well to the nose with spicy and fruity notes trailed by wood and vanilla. A very fresh touch on the palate actually. The finish is medium long and warm/spicy with wood and raisins. Price to quality is OK.

Unquestionably the nicest bottle in the standard 5-, 7- and 10-year series. The wood has taken its toll, bringing complexity despite the low alcohol content. Spices, caramel, vanilla and fruit are all present. Rather pleasant.

The nose reveals a dominant smell of dried prunes, with more discreet notes of "ume" plums and green apples. The palate offers a different picture. It starts sweet and gradually become iodine, slighlty smoky. Frank, the accent is peppery with flavors of spices. The finish is medium to long, lightly woody, with an hint of green apples. It then leaves a lasting taste of tobacco.

This rum really had me hooked at first with its beautiful and inviting nose—bit of wood, very fruity, fresh grass, almond, and mirabelle plum. There’s a lot of potential here. However, tasting it left me a bit disappointed. As a lover of higher ABV, the concentration of flavors here felt far too diluted, and I can't help but feel like the low ABV is holding it back. It's not that it’s completely lacking in flavor—there are still some nice tones of sour cherry, baked apple, pepper and plum—but they just don’t come through as strongly as I’d expect. The finish is short, with hints of pepper, baked apple, and a slight vegetal note, but overall, the experience feels watered down. This rum could have been great with more intensity, and while it’s still drinkable, it feels like it’s been diluted to the point where it loses some of its potential. Definitely enjoyable in some aspects, if your like 40% stuff, I think you might want to try it. But in my subjective point of view, it just falls a bit short.

Quite dry, despite fruity raisins, floral notes with wood and very little caramel sweetness. I drank a Manhattan Twist with it. Was quaffable.

Goûté au RF 2023 donc dégustation sommaire... Un bon agricole, des fruits tropicaux, du fruit sec avec des notes de caramel. Mais tput ça bien trop réduit sans aucune longueur.
