Santiago de Cuba Carta Blanca
Surprise on this white Cuban is the nutty side: roasted peanuts and a sweet-wine, almost vermouth note next to white grape and a touch of coffee. At 38% it's light and a bit thin, with only a faint leathery, tobacco hint of "real" rum in the finish. Several tasters find it low on weight, but it makes a genuinely fresh daiquiri.

- Thin, light body
- Little rum character

Light, nutty white Cuban mixing rum Most call it a light, easy mixer rather than a sipper — nutty and fresh, a good daiquiri and cuba libre base, but low on body and rum character at 38%.

Kneipe Whiskyplaza Hamburg December 2025. Let's start with an unaged Cuban. Not bad at all, roasted nuts are noticeable, along with some coffee and young wood. Surprisingly good.

#6496 15.03.2026 Running some samples after a nice day out meeting up with a friend I have not seen in 15 years. This bottle is not really me. I know it is a mixer and it does kind of OK in a cola. The nose is fresh with sugarcane, light honey, spice and some banana. The palate is dry and oily with citrus, floral and peppery notes. The finish is medium long with citrus, spice, nutts and faint tobacco.

White Rum Blind Tasting by Artur: hardly any taste, lots of neutral alcohol.

Unfortunately little expression and strength

for me, it‘s not really for sipping, but it‘s a very good choice for a cuba libre😎.

A light nose. White fruits and currants with some soft wood and coffee. The palate has a hit of white grape juice with subtle wood and roasted peanuts. The finish is short with an interesting, almost Old Tom Gin note of juniper. Overall, very light, some interesting notes. Not something I would reach for often. Could do with more weight.

Tasting is of a 1980s bottle but really a very solid white rum. Nutty and caramel on the mouth, a muted nose, some juniper and spice on a medium length finish. Sipped it is remarkable well put together for what I would class a mixing rum. I suspect more recent bottlings are not as refined but an enjoyable white rum

Light and sweet with hints of marshmallow, coconut and vanilla. Could do with a great abv to give more depth in flavour.

The best budget known white Cuban. Makes a pleasant fresh flavourful daiquiri, better than Planteray 3 Star daiquiri in my book and also smoother (and I do love funk). The smell is really pleasant, like a nutty floral sweet white wine or vermouth.

Finale courte

Read full review →The only real evidence of "rum" comes in the finish which is slightly leathery with a note of tobacco. I really enjoy more fruity white rums such as Chairman's Reserve White Label and Appleton Special. This is probably handy for a bartender needing a more easy going rum. From my...
