Savanna Rhum Vieux Traditionnel
Coming from Savanna, a distillery loved for its wild high-ester bombs, this one surprises by being gentle and easy. Molasses-based and 5 years old, it leans fruity and floral with vanilla, ripe yellow fruit and a little green, vegetal edge. A few tasters catch light solvent and wood. Pleasant to sip, but several regulars found it short and missing the complexity they expect here.

First traditional rum of Reunion Island that I taste. In the nose, I don't find very particular markers. Some fruit, wood, vanilla. Some cane too. In the mouth, the juice is thick, almost fat. It is at first woody and sweet. Ripe yellow fruit, vanilla, pepper too. It is very pleasant in the mouth, a little less in the throat where it stings a little (I am sick when I do this tasting).Nice discovery. Not very complex but pleasant to drink.

Wow so far the best Rhum I had. Sweet, creamy, vanilla, nougat. No hints of floral earthy vegetal elements. Awesome one.

Nice green and fresh flavors but somewhat unbalanced. Surprisingly long lingering finish. Slight solvents flavors. A distinct personality that differentiates from other rums is a plus.
Review by Tom Buteneers
Delicate, subtle and elegant: no bombastic explosions of scents and flavors, but rather fleeting fruity and vegetal impressions. Nevertheless delicious to drink and discover.

Mah...some rums just don't impress me anymore. They are pleasantly drinkable, but nothing more. From Savanna I would have expected more, but it is also true that they are rums with low pretensions.

7,8:The nose opens with a very nice banana, with notes of molasses, strongly toasted wood and coffee. It starts to melt into a dark honey with accents of tar and dried flowers, then into thick, sticky drops of fruit juices. Vanilla, almond and toffee arrive with the opening, while the rum continues to launch some geranium flights. On opening, the coffee and molasses are lemony and thus sharper. The woodiness takes on an air of toasted bread and nutty, nutty fruit. The pepper is fresh and minty. 7,1:The palate is balanced and rather concentrated. Exotic fruits make a quick passage, banana pervades, they immediately give way to roasted nuts, roasted cocoa and a tasty coffee. A small benevolent solvent cleanses a slightly tarry metal. 7:The finish is very roasted, even burnt and mineral. The oxidised nuts are coated with molasses. It is a bit dry. On the nose, this rum promises a lot..

Savanna is an interesting distillery from La Reunion making rums both from molasses and from cane juice. This is one of their rum traditionnels meaning molasses based and they clearly know what they are doing in this art. The nose is quite subtle apart from a hint of vanilla and a complete absence of alcohol smell. In the mouth it is incredibly smooth to sip and the vanilla carries through to greater expression. Slight and subtle tropical fruits can be gleaned but the most impressive thing is just how well all the flavors turn in on themselves to join an incredibly integrated whole. Practically no alcohol burn whatsoever and with an aftertaste length that is about par for the course. But the takeaway here is that this is a highly agreeable sipper with very well integrated flavor.

Easy rum, with a very common profile. Is surely something nice to drink and approach the distillery. If you are used to something more complex you can skip it. The nose is the best part, intriguing at least. I find it a little bit short after tasting it. But as said it does the job .

Even though it comes at 43, it still carries a lot of flavours, Savanna really knows their topic. And if you take the price into account, that's a banger !!!

Overall an interesting rum that makes me want to test more from the brand, both traditional and Agricole. The nose is mostly fruity, but also rather alcoholic. At the palate it’s spicy, fruity and bitter with flavors of anise.

Kein wirklich besonderer Rum.

Light, for the summer. Floral planting floral, slightly fruity. Less spice. Alcoholic finish

Tolik ovoce v nekolika malo kapkach tekutiny jste dlouho necitili.
Review by Necron
Interesting rum. Very fruity smell that hides the alcoholic taste. Overall it is a good introduction to rum but nothing much to experienced drinkers. The alcoholic taste overpowers the fruity notes and the finish is quite short leaving only an alcoholic taste.
