T.D.L Planteray Prestige Cellar (Slovakia Exclusive) 1999
Nearly everyone who tried this lands in the same place: a rounded, complex TDL that tastes like the classic Trinidad mint and menthol met a bit of Fernandes funk. Expect orange peel and citrus, guava and grape, leather and a little "dirty" edge, with roasted wood underneath. The alcohol sits well integrated for cask strength. It reads dry, not sweet, and finishes long and tannic.

8,6:On the nose, dirty, menthol and solvents, rubber, vegetal, minty molasses, roasted wood with dark chocolate, dried, citrus and tropical fruits(the strongest is guava), bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, berries, banana and grapes arise, spiciness, some confectionery and flowery, fresh molasses with tea. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is delicious with citrus fruits like orange, tropical with maracuja, plums, minty, flowery and herbaceous molasses, later mineral and darker with licorice, roasted wood notes like nuts, later butterscotch, pastry, some leather, spicy with clove and ginger, salty, slightly tannic. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic, fruity with various citrus, dried and tropical fruits, the molasses is fresh, minty, herbaceous, grassy, some rosemary pops out, as the wood is roasted, spicy, oaky with notes, known from before..

Quasi a hybrid between TDL and Fernandes FPH. The nose is both fruity like banana and grape, as well as minty fresh and slightly "dirty", as well as chocolaty. On the palate, there is the typical TDL mint on the one hand, plus citrus fruits such as orange, a little rosemary and grape. On the other hand, there are notes of candied ginger, leather, caramel and dark chocolate that are more reminiscent of Fernandes FPH, as well as an overall rather dirty and slightly smoky flavor with an intense minty freshness. Very successful, complex & delicious cask selection that Acan Slovakia has made here! Overall quite bitter and astringent in the surprisingly long finish...

Wow 😍 top T.D.L with a little Fernandes taste 😋

Pungent on the nose. Spicy and complex in the mouth. Tannins. The tropical sweetness recedes into the background. Relatively dry for the drinking strength. More yellow fruits such as peach and nectarine on the finish. Pipe tobacco, sweet, nutty, tropical fruit, mint, flambéed pineapple, marajucia, medicinal. The mouth is ok, but the finish is a real party. A lot happens and for a long time. Extremely cool, I really like the 99 vintages. TDL plus Fernandes combo!

22 years of tropical aging have done their magic – beautifully rounded flavor that still holds its intensity thanks to the cask strength. On the nose, there’s a delightful mix of ripe fruits like grapes, bananas, and nectarines, combined with a subtle minty freshness and a touch of vanilla. The palate delivers tropical fruity notes, citrus, and passion fruit, with slight wooden tannins adding structure. The finish is medium-long, bringing out a herbal freshness and gentle mintiness, though not as intense as in other vintages from TDL, for example 2001. Overall, it’s a stunning, complex fruity-minty TDL rum that will definitely impress even seasoned rum enthusiasts.

Nice and round, some minty notes, but somehow not the full broadside of TDL. But not quite the tame Fernandes either. It could almost be a blend of the two...

I like this mkc so much, the mint is omnipresent, pleasant, strong, not bitter but still a bit "dirty" through the skin. The alcohol is very nicely integrated, besides the mint you can smell tropical fruits, vanilla, a bit of caramel. Nice long finish where the mint remains. The bottle and the execution is gorgeous, very hilarious design, drinkable contents, just the price is unfortunately not favourable.

The color - dark gold / yellow The nose - mint, friuts - lemons, some kind of dirty - hard to describe..or maybe leather The taste- fresh, menthol, orange peel, wood in the background, leather..black tea The finish is medium/long - dry, tannins, bitter (definitely not sweet) Overall good piece of rum..round, complex, not sweet, with integrated alcohol..I don’t see any negatives…apart from that it’s disappearing from my glass…
