TCRL Saint André Warehouse #1 2016
Sipped neat is where this Savanna-distilled Reunion rum makes sense — it's a big, savory pour that leans medicinal, earthy and woody more than sweet. Expect glue, dried apricot, roasted oak with a little caramel, and a dry, tannic finish with menthol creeping in. One member called the taste "incredibly strange," and that funky, mineral edge really does split people.

Aggregated from 34 community reviews.
Earthy, medicinal Reunion rum with dry oak Most tasters like this earthy, medicinal Reunion pour, but agree it's odd — glue, minerals and dry oak make it a character bottle, not an easy sipper.

8,1:On the nose, the first impression we get is earthy with sugarcane, as the wood is roasted with caramel, leather and nuts, slightly spicy and fruity with dried fruits, apricots. On aeration, a nice pear is out, a lot of flowery and herbaceous tones and some vanilla. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is actually attractive, a bit intense with roasted wood notes like caramel, spicy and salty, as the molasses is slightly soapy, herbaceous, flowery, earthy and mineral. The fruits are dried, citrus and perhaps some blackcurrant might be present. When the rum is well rested, it shows more vegetal aspect with hay and minty notes, with a slightly waxy and metallic touch. 8:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, spicy with ginger, the wood is toasted with caramel, nuts and dark chocolate, the fruits dried and citrus, as the molasses is herbaceous, earthy, grassy, some menthol joins later.
