The first whiff I got when opening the bottle for sampling was a hint of coconut, which immediately reminded me of Rum Sponge ITP. Blindly, you could almost guess a Foursquare from the smell. Overall, I even remember liking it a little better than the Rum Sponge. They don't have much in common in terms of price. Let's see how it compares.

I'm not really warming to this Long Pond at the moment. I don't find the nose the most pleasant, as it has the markers I'm familiar with. On the palate, however, it's a little too spicy and roasty for me. The alcohol is also not quite well integrated. I'll give it a second chance in a few days' time

First-class Long Pond with plenty of (tropical as well as dried) fruit, caramel, coconut, barrel and wood aromas, which are pronounced to varying degrees from nose to finish. The alcohol tweaks the palate a little. Inexperienced drinkers will probably reach their limits here.

Right up my alley, LP with proper tropical maturation (13y) + 4y continental. Directly a small LP crosstasting to see where the Nobilis ranks with me :) Also in the party: 3 x 2007 ITP: Nobilis No. 47 17y, Schotmann 16y, Barikenn 15y 2 x VRW: The Nectar 2005 15y, Velier Vale Royal 2006 12y The high ABV of the Nobilis pinches both the nose and the palate a little. After 2 hours in the glass, this subsides somewhat, at least on the nose. Overall, I like the nose very much and compared to the other ITPs it is more fruity, very inviting and round. The Schotmann is quite woody and spicy on the palate, slightly bitter. The Barikenn is very similar to the Schotmann, but has a little more fruit, especially on the palate. The Nobilis is quite similar, but has surprisingly less woodiness than the other ITPs, but a slight astringency. For me, all 3 ITPs are on the same level, with the Barikenn winning in terms of PLV. However, I like the VRWs (which I have already tasted several times) a little better overall, as the profile simply appeals to me more. I especially like the mango/passion fruit note, which is particularly pronounced in the 2005 LPs. For me, the PLV is right here and if I didn't already have so many LPs, I'd get myself a bottle :D

#5547 Relaxing with a few samples I got from a good friend. Listening to some old classics on Spotify. Nose Round, wood, balanced, faint smoke, fruity, light glue, light floral, faint caramel, light polish. Palate Warm, wood, light roasted, medium spicy, fruits, light glue, light floral, light pineapple, light caramel. Finish Long and warm, wood, fruits, faint citrus, faint coconut, banana. Empty glass Caramel, coconut, faint gasoline, banana, light floral. Needs to rest for a good while or with a few drops of water in order to open up properly.

This rum is not for the faint-hearted! Almost 70°, with great aromatic and taste power. Highly concentrated, it offers complexity and evolution. On the palate, an initial hard astringent cape on a barrel of tannin, zan and resin. Then burnt sugar softens, returning to the exotic fruitiness of the nose. Finally, old wood turns to coconut, the zan softens to licorice. A little tingling on the alkali/saline tongue. It's the roller coaster at the amusement park!

Lots of coconut, tropical fruits, cinnamon and roasted aromas. Personally, too much gasoline and diesel, especially on the nose, and the alcohol could be much better integrated. Perhaps also the form of the day today. Will get another chance. Edi doesn't appeal to me even at the second chance ... Sorry.

A really nice surprise. Fruit and wood, vanilla on the nose. On the palate it becomes spicy...not exactly expected. Like a blend of Foursquare with Jamaica ester. The alcohol is well integrated.

Rhumtour 2025 Wow wouldnt mind having a bottle of this in my LP collection. Didn't expect much of the lower Mark, but this is so fruity, creamy and balanced. Still has some LP funk in it. Reminds me of the LP of spirits project only this one is more creamy. Great find.

First of all, I'd like to thank PassionRhum for the sample offered when you order (don't hesitate to have a look at their website, Jef is very nice and has lots of references). As for the juice, leave it in the glass for a few minutes, as the degrees make themselves felt. Some yellow fruit on the nose, with hints of vienoiserie and brioche, The attack on the palate is lively, hence the 69.5%. That said, there's no loss of greediness. A very fine product

17/10/2025: tasting @ home with Stijn and Bram. A lower ester mark from Long Pond, but that doesn't mean it's inferior or not worth your time. It's a more tamer Long Pond with notes of vanilla, coconut and wood insteaad of the funky and delicious sour notes from a STCE Cambridge. The high ABV makes this an interesting sipping experience.
