Wu Dram Clan South Pacific Flensburg Rum Company Fiji 2006 (Dos Delinquentes) TBYWC
"If you are looking for a typical Fiji, this isn't the case," as one taster put it. This 17-year cask-strength pot still leans clean and column-like: coconut, vanilla and papaya on the nose, then roasted mocha, caramel, chocolate and pepper. Several people expected the dirty rubber-and-fruit Fiji funk and didn't find it — a few even swore it tasted like Belize.

Next, a strong Fiji with over 70%. I even find the alcohol well integrated. There's a lot of coconut on the nose here. On the palate it is very strong, intense and roasty. Pepper is recognizable here.

The first Fiji from the vintage. With the high ABV, expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, I was bitterly disappointed. I miss the typical dirty in-your-face Fiji profile. It's more here, the sharp-edged and the more than poorly integrated alcohol that dominates here. The second bottling of FRC x WDC, which unfortunately disappoints me.

#5058 30.11.2024 Tasting at Whisky Watcher tasting in Odense. Nose Intense, light wood, faint smoke, varnish, light rubber, light licorice, fruits, olive, faint nutts. Palate Intense, light wood, light roasted, licorice, fruits, light rubber olive, faint salt, spice. Finish Long and warm, light wood, light rubber, olive, light caramel, light licorice, light grapefruit. The empty glass has light tannins, olive, banana and light caramel. This is a hammer so it needs to rest for a good while before you give it a go. Leaving the bottle open for a good while after taking a few shots, will benefit the rum over time.

On the nose, the alcohol is surprisingly little present for >70% if you let it breathe enough, but it is very present and disturbing as soon as it is poured. After a little breathing, it makes you want more with aromas of ripe papaya, butterscotch and strong mocha. On the palate, however, there is virtually none of the fruit flavors, but primarily caramel, coffee, salt and chocolate and the rather present alcohol note. Unfortunately, there are no typical Fiji gum and fruit flavors and it's very one-dimensional. I had expected much more... Typical collumn still.

Ui ui ui.... If you are looking for a typical Fiji, this isnt the case. My first impressions were (column still 🤭) Belize/Antigua/FS with a fruity NY94 and Beenleigh. This is a very good rum in my opinion and Chapeau to FRC & WDC to pick this cask ! The first 2006 Fiji World Premiere 😅😅😅

The first thing that surprises me is the color. Quite transparent for a bottling with 17y tropical maturation. Alcohol, vanilla, caramel and some coconut on the nose. Everything is very subtle, you have to really "reach into" the glass to make out anything at all. (And that with an ABV of over 70%....) The same game on the palate and the alcohol is unfortunately also very present. All in all, unfortunately, quite a disappointment for me.

Alcohol Perfectly integrated. You wouldn't expect it to be so high in alcohol without looking at the label. I like it better than the 1st LD bottling (which is also getting better and better) and clearly benefits from many years of tropical. Nice!

Fiji, as we know it from the "cleaner" vintages. Unfortunately not an intense rum with lots of plastic and fruit, but rather a clinical column profile with some coconut and papaya. On the palate, there is still some oak, cocoa and pepper. Not bad, but not what I had hoped for. Could be a bit tastier for 17 years tropical.

Review by Dr.Django
The key data reads excitingly and immediately makes you very curious. The rum itself is less exciting. Vanilla, light fruits, coconut. At least we get to taste the rum premiere of a Fiji 2006 here.

The first 2006 Fiji and ... unfortunately nothing! Too alcoholic, too immature and when I think of the release price. Sorry, I can't understand that. The Enmore was already a real flop, but how you can get it so wrong again 🤷🏻

11-04-2025 - Rate 8.0 Full power on nose and taste. Nose is tropical fruits and coconut. Coconut is not that dominant which I like. To much coconut can ruin a good rum. Taste has a bit of an alcoholic “burn”. ABV not as well integrated as I would like. All in all a very good Fiji rum, but it can’t beat my favorit from Dead Reaconing. 31-07-2025 - Rate 8.4 Blind tasting in rum club. A blind tasting is the most honest. I have corrected my rating.

Unfortunately not my cup of tea. Promising on the nose with over 70% ABV. Unfortunately anything but balanced on the palate. I had hoped for much more here given the long and tropical maturation. Far too alcoholic and beastly.

Very interesting on the nose, as it is quite unique. Very fresh, cold metallic with vanilla cookie dough. Seems closed. Reminiscent of a metal tub of vanilla ice cream from the ice cream parlor. In addition to the vanilla, the palate is surprisingly full of nuts, caramel, chocolate and the rum is creamy and intense. But also edgy and alcoholic. The finish is super dry and woody. I like it, even though the 70% is already very present. But not disturbing for me. To be honest, not the Fiji I'm looking for. Could also be a Belize rum on the palate. In the end, a solid, intense low ester Fiji.

Fiji that doesn't taste like fiji no cinnamon and so more like tdl
Review by Jakob
A rather unfamiliar taste for Fiji, but what is familiar territory with this release? The alcohol is there, undisputedly, but the rest of the aroma is also very pleasing. Independent, demanding, intense; of course this is not the perfect symphony of aromas, but as a brute impact in between, it certainly has something.
