"Grosse déception" is the recurring verdict here. One taster did enjoy the "Vanilla, caramel and cask taste," calling it Demerara-style, but most found it thin, bitter and woody with a nose that goes almost nowhere and a finish that just vanishes. Interesting on paper as an old St. Lucia bottling; underwhelming in the glass. A curiosity more than a pour you'll reach for.

Overall prevalence of vanilla with hints of tobacco/barrel with a medium-long finish initially of vanilla then giving way to light tobacco/barrel notes.Decent rum, but I would never buy it again except at bargain prices. The bottle aesthetically is very nice.

This one wa a huge disappointment and kind of a dull rum overall. The nose is very shallow and bitter with wood and vanilla. There is a strong musty note there as well. The palate is is similar to the nose with a bit of chocolate and light caramel. The finish is almost non existing with wood and caramel.

🥃 Silver Seal Dennery – 43% On attaque avec une bouteille intrigante. “Dennery Distillery” mentionnée sur l’étiquette… alors que la distillerie a fermé vers 1972 🤔 Embouteillé par Silver Seal en 2012. Certains parlent d’un distillat de 1988 (ce qui soulève encore plus de questions…). Vieillissement majoritairement continental supposé. On serait sur ±23 ans si les infos sont bonnes. Sur le papier ? Passionnant. Dans le verre ? Grosse déception. Nez quasi stérile. Bouche courte, boisée, épicée… puis plus rien. Finale absente. 👉 On oublie. Next.

Really not a great Rum. We know how good the SLD column can be but this is thin, bitter and lacking any interest. Perhaps a mixture of a dead / poor quality cask and an average distillate. I wouldn't buy again.

Read full review →I've seen them on Social Media question whether this is their product at all! Which is a bit worrying. Mind you, even the way Silver Seal presented this would make me want to distance myself from it. That's not counting the very average contents inside. A real disappointment for me.
