Savanna Unshared Cask for Belgium 2015
One taster called it his "favorit Savanna in Calvados cask," and the theme is apple all the way through — fresh, caramelized, apple pie — with cinnamon spice, light esters and gentle oak. The Calvados finish is well woven in, and most agree the 62% hides beautifully. It needs air to open; rush it and it drinks hot and closed.

Superb tasting. An excellent rum. On the nose, you can smell the wood and the calvados barrel. It's closer to a typical French spirit. On the palate, superb, the 62° goes down well with a note of apple. Very long finish. If you get the chance to taste it, don't hesitate!

Nez élégant mais suffisamment intense, sur une combinaison de fruits (pomme, pomme cannelle, carambole) et de boisé maîtrisé. De la fraîcheur végétale sur de la menthe au pilon. Des esters légers. Un léger vernis apporté par le boisé. C'est aussi gourmand sur du caramel mou, de la vanille fraîche en gousse, de la cannelle. Une bouche tout aussi fruitée sur tous les aspects de la pomme (pomme d'amour, pomme bonbon, pomme caramélisée, pomme acidulée). Le fût de calvados est maîtrisée. La bouche est mélassée à souhait et contient (avec parcimonie) quelques aspects des Grands Arômes. Bonbons arlequins. Des épices vives presque sur du piment d'Espelette. Encore ces esters qui structurent la finale. La bouche se termine sur un joli chocolat noir 60-70%. Les esters se retrouvent jusqu'au verre vide qui dégage un léger voile vinaigré et saumuré. L'alcool est parfaitement intégré, jamais j'aurais trouvé les 62%. 5-7% de moins. C'est une des forces de cet UC. Une très belle surprise ce traditionnel. Fruité mais aussi légèrement esterisé, extrême buvabilité, sans manquer de complexité, un des UC qui se démarque des autres depuis ces deux dernières années. Note: pour plus de cohérence, passe de 88 à 87 dans ma notation par rapport aux derniers Savanna GA dégustés. Mais toujours un excellent Dram de tous les jours, extrêmement buvable et suffisamment complexe.

Degusté au Spirits Days à Tournai, notes rapides : Nez : ester, frais, pomme, petite menthe Bouche : pomme, épices, équilibré, un peu d'ananas Bref : l'un des tops du salon ! super équilibré et plaisant, moins sec que certains autre unshared. Peut être mon préféré jusqu'ici (j'en ai pas gouté 20 non plus...)

Tres joli rhum, probablement le meilleur de cette série unshared. Difficile de dire à l’aveugle que c’est un Finish calva mais il apporte une acidité très sympa qui soutient le propos. Intégration parfaite. Complex, tellement que c’est difficile d’identifier des arômes en particulier mais fruit à chaire blanche et jaune. Poire pas forcément mûr mirabelle au four, beaucoup d’épice, un peu de camphre. Très bon

Presque insignifiant au nez, En bouche vraimebt mieux, assez complexe, difficile, il y a des fruits chair blanches, même mirabelle cramée, beaucoup d'epices/bois ,franchement belle petite quille. Integration mega reussie.

#4908 25.10.2024 relaxing at home with this yummy but ugly fish 😊 Nose Fresh, faint wood, medium intense, light ester, vegetal, light apple, faint mint, light citrus, spice. Palate Round, balanced, faint ester, light wood, light spicy, warm, fruity, light pineapple, sweet, spice, light vegetal, light dry, faint apple. Finish Medium long, balanced, round, sweet, light wood, light vegetal, light citrus. The empty glass has a nice fruityness to it as well as a light sour note.

Beautiful nose, very harmonious with caramel and a little TicTac Wintergreen. A great balance of these two aromas on the palate too. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is not very long. Nevertheless, a really nice bottling.

Un nez relativement calme pour ce Savanna. J'y décèle aisément du bois d'abord. Une jolie fraîcheur. Puis des notes de Calvados, peut être de la colle. En bouche, c'est immédiatement chaud et épicé. Des notes d'abord boisées et séchés laissent peu à peu la place à plus de gourmandises et de notes fruitées. Le temps apporte de la complexité à ce rhum. Finale plus cacaotée et sur le café. Toujours brûlant. Je me disais en goûtant que ce n'était pas le meilleur des Savanna que j'avais goûté. Mais plus je lui laisse du temps plus il me semble agréable.

Northern Lights Meeting 2025: Very fresh on the nose, esters, citrus fruits, the smell reminds me of Calvados. In the mouth very pleasant but also apple, nice spiciness with good sweetness. Medium-long finish, fruity and spicy.
