Swell de Spirits Hampden Swell & Co. Christopher Bellail (Bar 1802) C<>H 2007
One taster called it an "ester and fruit massacre," and that's about right. The nose is all glue, solvent and overripe tropical fruit — pineapple, mango, guava. The palate turns finer than you'd expect: banana, marzipan and brioche over young oak, a sour-citrus streak, then a long, dry, slightly tannic finish. Loud but balanced, and several people found the 63.8% surprisingly well tucked in.

Wow, what a slap in the face! The esters are obviously present, but above all the glue is very nice and pleasant. It remains 50/50 with the fruit, notably guava and mango. Very long finish, well-integrated alcohol... nothing to complain about. Bottle purchased :D

Really good bottling from Swell . Nose : Marzipan, annas, mango banana and strong esters (solvent glue etc) Great buttery notes. Slight woody notes Palate Also here great fruity with strong ester ...slightly buttery and some marzipan. What I particularly like: hardly any bitter notes. In May Tai 4/5 and therefore very good 😎

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 What a bomb!!! A really great Hampden from Swell. I am absolutely thrilled. A real fruit bomb with the typical, but here rather in the background, ester notes. A little wood, alcohol perfectly integrated. Thinking about canceling the split and keeping both bottles 😉🫠. Guys, be happy. A 2007 C<>H that I would love to try as a tropical maturation, but apparently it doesn't exist.

A delicious bottling. The esters and notes of glue are already screaming on the nose. Not quite typical on the palate: an astonishing amount of marzipan, plus grapefruit, lemon and herbal notes. It even becomes slightly salty and fruity-bitter towards the finish. A not entirely typical high-ester Hampden and a great cask selection from Swell.

8,7:On the nose, intense funkiness bumps into our nosetrils with solvents, esters, fermented tropical fruits like pineapple, banana and mango, citrus fruits, vegetal notes like an olive and confectionery. On aeration, we might notice some yoghurt notes, the rum is buttery, slightly spicy, salty and a bit woody, fruity with guava. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with varnish and esters, funky, intense, fruity with tons of fruits like banana, pineapple, guava, then red fruits, grapefruit and mango. The wood is spicy, salty, brings marzipan and brioche, faint caramel, as the molasses is vegetal with olive, with oxidation, metallic patina arises. 9:The finish is delicious, balanced, dry, slightly tannic, with tons of different fruits, oaky spices, salty and smoky, some confectionery still here, vegetal molasses..

Nose with lots of ester and glue power. Pleasantly sweet and beautifully fruity. Powerful taste of yellow fruits, marzipan and varnish. A little wood and honey sweetness at the back. I find it a little rough in the finish and very warming in the throat. For me, the alcohol is not perfectly integrated. But it's a nice thing

A really good one - funky nose but slightly « mono profile » on the Esthers and glue. The taste is very pleasant and complete - with a strong Hampden profile. Nice (and long!) aftertaste. Strongly recommended

First impression, try again. Nose exhibits pineapple, varnish and redcurrant jam. The palate is much finer, balanced and elegant, bordering on buttery with very controlled alcohol. Finish a little short compared with the promise of the rest, but very pleasant.

Quite a typical, intense nose. Exotic fruit plays off glue and esters. It perfumes the room. The palate is as magnificent as the nose. It confirms the markers detected. A little marzipan, slight acidity and toastiness add to the party. Very well-integrated alcohol. Medium-long finish. Damn, it's good!

Amazing Hampden, pineapple bomb but still very sweet, with a noticeable depth that doesn't always show up with ester bombs. Love it.
Review by Rum man
Yeah, this is a Hampden 2007 :) There is no doubt about that. In the spectrum of HD 2007 bottlings, this is quite an elegant rum. Of course it has all the bold flavours, high esters and what not but it does not go overboard on any part of the profile. This stuff smells amazing with lots of tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya. The taste adds a woody and dry profile too it. There is also a sour note that balances the whole profile nicely. The finish is of course looooong! And overall, dare I say it again, quite elegant. Impressive stuff!
