Planteray Barbados 2017 (Adriatico Amaretto Cask) Barrel Swap Collection
Sip it as a little after-dinner digestif and you get almond, marzipan and cherry with a syrupy body — the Adriatico amaretto cask runs the show here. One taster admits that blind he might not have called it rum at all. Fun as an experiment, but the West Indies base pretty much disappears under all that sweet almond liqueur character.

How does Planteray Barbados 2017 (Adriatico Amaretto Cask) Barrel Swap Collection taste?
Aggregated from 24 community reviews.
Sweet amaretto-cask rum, more dessert digestif Reviews land it as a novelty: the amaretto cask dominates and the Barbados base gets buried. Enjoyable as a sweet digestif, but a few found it "too sweet too spiced."

Review by Eric Frechin

Sweet and strong influence of Amaretto.

Nice experiment, but the amaretto finish clearly dominates - you can't recognize much of the base. Too intrusive for me, but as I said a fun experiment.
Review by Martin Ekrt
I can really smell the Amaretto in there. A nice memory of ice cream with just this enhancement. Unfortunately, I find the rum base to be a total dud, so Plantation decided to throw a boring, barely average rum on top of the Amaretto finish. An experiment all right, but I certainly wouldn't want to have a whole bottle of it.
