Fart-dry, lots of wood, lots of spices but without any sweetness. Minimal citrus and some tobacco. I had hoped for much more overall ... the tannins are too much in the foreground for me although I am otherwise an agricole fan.

Excellent Agricole, tastes slightly better to me than the 2006. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Intoxicating nose to enjoy. Barrel aging they can anyway perfectly in the French Antilles. I just tasted it with the Neisson 15 Ans Batch #2, it is very similar and equally good.

A rum of which I had high expectations, yet which did not disappoint. Rodolphe told me it was one of his favorite rums. On the nose, a great sweetness, with fruit (pineapple, banana, passion fruit) and vegetal notes. The attack on the palate is smooth, with a beautiful aromatic palette. Everything's in place, it couldn't be better. Incredibly smooth, given the ABV. The finish is long and delicate, with a noble bitterness. A rum that ticks all the boxes. In direct comparison with the 2010, it seems fresher, with more fruit and flowers, but the finish is a little less long and complex.

I'm under the spell of the nose! Sumptuous, one could spend hours on it. On the palate, pepper and nutmeg, I'd say, as usual with agricultural wines. But citrus, yellow fruit and vanilla are not far off... If I were as hooked on the palate as on the nose, it would be 95! Excellent, for the moment the best agricole I've tasted. Thank you DrDjango!

Chocolate, nuts, dried fruit, barrel aromas - the nose offers an almost perfect reflection of the Agricole profile. On the palate, the spectrum of aromas remains largely identical, although the alcohol is more noticeable - which is why I consider the Chantal Comte bottling of the 2006 vintage to be a tick ahead of this release in my verdict. Both deliver top quality.

With a medium to long finish this was the nights favorite. Fruity and woody from nose to finish with spice and a light floral touch. A bottle very hard to find but none the less a great one.

Lucky day today, the second absolute top drop in the glass. After tasting Saint James yesterday, this one is already worlds away. Hell yesterday, heaven today. This is probably the closest comparison. Thank you Joachim for opening up the world of Agricole to me once again.

Second tasting: the alcohol is a little superficial but still an excellent rum, rating unchanged. Wow, this is once an intense column still rum! Nuts, spicy and fruity and sweetness associated with the fruit on the nose. And unmistakably Agricole! On the palate a lot of wood / barrel and bitter but still balanced. I'm not a big Agricole fan (so far) but I like this one from the start and it's one of my top 3 Agricole rums. Unfortunately, no longer readily available.

This bottler has already bottled very good agricoles; and this one seems to be no exception. On the contrary! Nose: very intense, powerful and full-bodied. Clearly a mature agricole. Beautiful and clear wood acidity, oak and dark fruit, such as blackberry. Fine vanilla and leather with light tobacco. With apple, it also reminds me a little of old Calvados. The almost 65% is still cutting at the beginning, but also draws in a lot of aromas. The nose becomes more and more beautiful. 9,0 Palate: amazing! Intense, complex and full-bodied, powerful and delicious. Again oak and wood acidity, plus salty and spicy, with nutmeg, caraway and clove. Quite bitter at the beginning, but immediately followed by blackberry, sour cherry and bitter orange with lemon peel. There are also roasted nuts such as pecan. Everything is again underpinned by a pleasant acidity, perhaps from blackcurrant. I also have this in the powerful aftertaste, where green twigs and grass are still present. 9,2 A really expressive, complex, intense and yet round Agricole. It's rare to find something like this in a glass.

Un rhum extraordinaire qui montre que le style français peut rivaliser avec le style britannique. Le nez est un régal olfactif, plongé entre les notes confites et pâtissières, les arômes de tabac, de fruits tropicaux et l’avalanche d’épices, le tout formant un mélange gourmand et très complexe. En bouche, l’attaque est intense mais terriblement délicieuse. Là encore, une triangulaire épicée, fruitée et pâtissière mène la danse tandis que le tabac, le bois, le cacao et les noix arrivent en embuscade. L’alcool est extrêmement bien intégré. La finale est longue, très épicée et fraîche, avec des notes de thé et de réglisse en complément d’un profil déjà superbe. Une véritable pépite sensationnelle qui fait partie du top tier des rhums agricoles.

Starts without being an agricole, but in the mouth it’s chancing immediately. The finish is long and delicious and earthy. Really a great rum. It’s an agricole. RumXmas 2022, #15, blind: I’m going with agricole, but I’m lacking experience in the French style to make an educated guess. I can’t differentiate enough between the distilleries. It opens up really nice, floral-honey flavors for me. Wow alcohol integration is amazing… first Chantal Comte for me I think. Not disappointed 😍

I saved this one for last at today's Agricole tasting. Admittedly, the others were rather mid-range today. Then I lifted the lid off the glass and... wow, what a nose! So sweet! Also great on the palate, but the nose remains the highlight. Surprisingly, the sweetness is still there until the finish. I was afraid it would be too woody for me, but no, just the right amount here too. This is the Agricole premier league.

RumX-Adventskalender 2022: ein herrlicher Agricole von dem man erst im Gaumen etwas merkt. In der Nase Gebäck, gepaart mit Holz, Nuss, Trockenfrüchten, Kokosnuss und Tabak. Im Gaumen dann zusätzlich Zuckerrohr und tropische Früchte. Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden!

Tasted in the RumX advent calendar. Rums like these are the reason why I like to take part in this calendar: You get to experience very fine things outside your comfort zone. Stored agricoles have not been my thing so far. Just didn't have a really good one. This rum is an absolute gem and I will certainly keep my eyes open for samples in this area from now on.

More rich than 2010, with still great alcohol integration, the extra wood touch adds to density and complexity. Very elegant expression again. my fav one is still the 2006, just the spiciness and fruitiness adds another dimension for me, though preferably would be good to have both bottles:)

Après le Maison La Mauny millésime 2010 puis 2006 sélectionné par Mme Chantal Comte, voici la Tour de l'Or 2001. Voyons voir ce que ce 14 ans d'âge brut de fût à dans le ventre. 👃 Essence de bois noble, boisé vanillé et épicé notamment la muscade. La canne à sucre a magnifiquement évoluée vers du sucre d'orge, du miel doux, du bonbon au miel, du caramel nappant des pâtisseries. Les fruits sont en retrait mais pas en reste. Noix de coco fraîche légèrement grillée, fruits secs du cake de Noël, un peu de fruits rouges et des bois. Tout ce que j'aime dans un agricole, sans cette odeur de bois humide qu'on retrouve dans beaucoup d'autres distilleries. Mention à l'excellente intégration de l'alcool. Nez aromatique et complexe sur lequel on peut rester des heures. 😋 Bien plus de fruits qu'au nez, sur un aspect compoté ; agrumes (zeste d'orange, pamplemousse, mandarine), les fruits secs et la noix de coco toujours. Le bois se veut plus présent mais sans jamais virer vers l'astringence désagréable d'autres agricoles martiniquais. Ici il est sec, joliment épicé (vanille, poivre, muscade, genièvre). Ces épices évoluent vers une sensation légèrement terreuse, florale et de feuilles séchées (tabac). Comme au nez, la perception alcoolique frise la perfection. Une bouche sapide, intense et équilibrée. ⛳ Très longue, chaude, boisé noble, noix tombées de l'arbre et séchées, vanille en gousse, réglisse fondue, essence de chêne, douelles caramélisées, chocolat au lait, pimenté, poivré. Le verre vide développe des odeurs d'infusion de thé noir, d'herbes coupées et de très vieux single malt. 🏆 Ce La Tour de l'Or 2001 réunit tous les marqueurs olfactifs de ses petits frères avec davantage de concentration et de finesse. Tout simplement un excellent rhum vieux agricole.

On the nose some solvent, red fruits, wood, roasted sugar, tobacco and citrus. On the palate it is both spicy(pepper especially) and fruity( red fruits) with notes of citrus, roasted peanuts, wood and light floral hints. In the finish it is long and intense, the ABV is perfectly integrated, better than the 2006, but I still prefer the 2010.

RumX Advent Calendar 15.12. Great Agricole, although (or because?) you don't notice it that much. The only thing I can't quite warm to is the roasted wood note that this rum also brings with it. With a little more time in the glass it becomes rounder, so I'll have to adjust it upwards again.

Must have opened the bottle on the same day Oliver did his sample test three days ago. Realized the other day, when I read his review and I absolutely agree, “Killer Agricole”. So had to pour another glas today. On the nose a wide range of fruits from orange to dried fruits. The american oak bourbon cask shines through and reminds of the HSE chêne américaine. Very balanced and complex with a warm sweetness. It might have been even better on the palate with less ABV. The 64,8% are quite present and a bit too much. Still very well integrated compared to other rums that ABV. I realized a saltiness and a delicate note of the cask that dominates even the finish. A bit of fresh polish. But sweetness as well. High rating but still have the Domain de Courcelle 1972 in mind. The benchmark.

Exceptionally good and complex agricole rhum. The bottle had been at a local grocery store for months about a hundred euros under market price :) Empty glass smells like tea, honey, a bit roasted and maybe a little smoke.

Qu'elle puissance... Le nez est compliqué ... On ressent de la douceur, du floral et du boisé et qu'elle complexité... Mais il faut faire face à la puissance de l'alcool. En bouche, l'alcool vous fait saliver directement, il est très difficile d'apprécier la complexité qui est servie... Inutile de dire que la fin de bouche est longue, très longue... Quel rhum exceptionnel. Une goutte d'eau serait bienvenue? Je ne sais pas. Je suis de l'ancienne école... J'apprécie un produit tel qu'il est fait. Ce rhum est difficile à appréhender. Mais quel rhum.... Exceptionnel... Point.

What a top rhum ! Tasted in the RumX calendar. From the nose I still assumed a molasses rum and have tried to assign the aromatics. On the palate, however, the subtle florality and hay note has indicated a long-stored Agricole. The vanilla note in the nose is also quite great cinema. Stored La Mauny is from now on also on the radar.
