The nose is all overripe strawberry, grapes, cognac and a savory green olive twist; the palate turns drier and more tannic, with roasted oak, leather and allspice, plus that HERR high-ester kick on the back end. Several tasters call it a step up from the 2023, though a few miss the earlier version's easier drinking.

Very great rum, harmonious and balanced. Excellent mix of fruit, caramel, chocolate, nuts and spices. In the mouth, many tart and dry barrel influences as well as dark berries. The roasted aromas are also pleasant.

Un rhum goûté au Whisky Live à Paris en 2024 et dégustation des Savanna high ester. Des fruits trop mûrs au nez, des fruits rouges avec de la banane, du végétal et un boisé léger. La bouche est vive et complexe avec les mêmes arômes qu’au nez avec en plus une sorte de bonbon aux herbes amères (Ricola) et des herbes sèches. Du caramel brûlé et des pâtisseries en finale viennent égayer les herbes sèches et le végétal. Je le trouve bien meilleur que le Unshared Cask pour la France 2024.

More "grown-up" than the L'Absolu. More power (in a positive sense) and roastier/darker on the palate. Alcohol is very well integrated. Very balanced with a complex mix of fruit (strawberries, grapes) and barrel influence. The HERR component gives a great kick at the back.

Rarely have I experienced such an extreme contrast between nose and taste. The nose is very sweet, with notes of strawberry jelly babies, caramel, grape jelly and a hint of olive. The palate is much drier and woodier than expected. Oak wood and the cognac barrel, as well as the tannins and wine notes from the Muscat wine come through and complement the aroma of yellow stone fruit. Some violets and strawberry on the finish and very elegant. Personally, the influence of the Cognac is a little too strong for me. Nevertheless, a very successful blend! Overall more complex than its predecessor absolu but less easy sipping.

Retasting Masterclass Savanna High Ester. This one is different from the first two. You can immediately smell the cask influence, also very spicy and it has a cognac aroma. On the palate, also woody and spicy, with a bit of leather. A top rum.

Savanna High Ester Masterclass. Cool that we could try the new 2024 version of l'Absolu. Great matured blend with a great nose. On the palate, it's a little less powerful, but for me it's better than the 2023.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters, overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, strawberry, smoky&spicy wood with caramel, cognac touch with dried figs, raisins, currants, gooseberry, as the molasses brings an olive. On aeration, there are strong grapes, allspice, some leather and the currants are dried. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is fruity and woody with peaches, overripe strawberry, dried fruits like currants, raisins, as the wood is roasted, dry with caramel, nougat, nuts, leather.The molasses is vegetal, waxy with dark licorice, a bit herbaceous.The tannins coming out are quite strong, bitter.Tropical overripe fruits are stronger after resting the rum with melon also. 8,4:The finish is long with dry&spicy, tannic roasted wood notes, a bit resinous, unpleasantly bitter, the molasses is vegetal, earthy with the olive, the fruits are dried and overripe...

Savanna Masterclass High Ester: This L'Absolou is very much on the elegant spicy side and a great introduction. I like the balance between the spice and the gentle fruitiness. The alcohol is well integrated and the finish is slightly tannic.

Guter Rum. Die 2023 Abfüllung hatte mir zwar noch etwas besser gepasst aber dennoch ein guter Rum. Pflaume, Trockenfrüchte und das parfümige von Tabak mit etwas Traubenzucker und grünem Pfeffer. Liest sich wild, passt aber gut.

A savanna easy sipper with a certain kick thanks to the HERR component. The alcohol is well integrated and the balance is the greatest strength of this rum. Fruity, woody, sweet, chocolaty, smooth on the palate and yet somehow with astringent peaks. The finish is of medium length. The cask influence is very strong. I like it very much!

Palate Balanced, light, light wood, olive, light strawberry, light salty, floral, light menthol, light licorice, medium dry, light citrus, light raisin. Finish Medium to long, medium dry, light wood, fruits, light olive, faint salt, light floral, light licorice, light citrus.

On the nose the HERR component is clearly noticeable, displaying menthol notes as well as overripe fruits. With some time to breath, the nose presents itself a more balanced yet still very fruity and powerful. Dark and quite dry on the palate without getting to extreme. Wood, leather, backing spices and some fruits. Very nice.

Seconde édition de l’Absolu, ce Savanna propose un nez équilibré, rond et très charmeur. Si on retrouve le boisé et les épices typiques du genre (vanille et piment notamment), les notes de raisin, de fraise, de cassis et de cognac apportent une très belle dimension fruitée aux narines. Le nez se veut exotique, gourmand et intense à souhait. En bouche, le rhum délaisse un peu la douceur et se pare d’une astringence plus marquée. Il y a une dimension bien plus rôtie et fumée également qui redonne du caractère au palais. Le profil devient plus vineux, sec et tannique, mais conserve le fruité du nez (avec l’ananas en prime) pour garder une forme d’opulence. Il y a une très belle association des saveurs. L’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale est longue, très tannique et conserve sa richesse aromatique. La fraise trop mûr et les épices (piment, vanille, réglisse) se maintiennent avec les notes rôties et le chêne. Une touche d’olive fait son apparition pour élargir le spectre aromatique. Une très jolie sélection réunionnaise, très agréable et évolutif. Comparé à l’édition 2023, ce Savanna est plus direct, plus solide et opulent sur ses arômes.

Nez très agréable sur les fruits et des notes de miel. Le HERR est bien présent. En bouche, on retrouve d'abord cette gourmandise avant de voir le bois et les tannins prendre le pas. Le HERR réapparaît dans un second temps. Superbe équilibre. Très typique de Savanna. Merci beaucoup à Oliver pour le sample 👍 Edit : nouvelle dégustation et finale toujours aussi agréable avec ce Herr qui prend le pas sur les notes boisées. Très joli équilibre

This is a very tasty rum from Savanna! Very fruity, full-bodied, fine berry notes (the HERR influences cannot be denied). Alcohol is very well integrated. Definitely better than its predecessor. I find the PLV very poor here.

Und da ist ja schon der neue L Absolu. War mir fast entgangen das da ein neuer blend im erscheinen begriffen ist. Muss noch Mal mit dem 2023 vergleichen welcher mir mehr gefällt. In diesem blend kommen die Herr Anteile und vor allem die Cognac Fässer klar zur Geltung. Wird mit Standzeit deutlich bitterer am Gaumen.

Sehr beeindruckender Savanna, der den L‘Absolu 2023 deutlich übertrifft. Das sehr tolle Savanna Grundprofil mit Erdbeeren und Ananas bleibt trotz Fasslagerung deutlich im Vordergrund. Fasseinflüsse runden den Rum dann sehr schön ab.

Savanna Masterclass Schön rund , etwas holzig und würzig. Ein Rum der etwas anderen Art. Wenig Frucht und viel Würze. Ist mal etwas abwechslungsreiches. Alkohol ist schön eingebunden und sich sonst gibt es nicht viel Kritikpunkte.

RumX Savanna Masterclass 27.09.24: Ein schönes Aroma verbreitet sich im Raum! Die Nase ist für mich von Cassis dominiert. Im Mund setzt es sich ähnlich fort, mit einer tollen Balance und angenehmer, verhaltener Süße (erinnert an Weintrauben). Im Abgang merkt man den HERR der sich vorher noch mehr im Hintergrund versteckt hat.

Ah... A very interesting Savanna blend! We find the big aroma profile that often kills our taste buds in a big woody cognac. The result is a very fruity rum with a licorice/chocolate/dried fruit finish. Special mention must go to the nose, where you can smell the eucalyptus at first, then the sandalwood. There's also a hint of a beeswax shoe-shine session... But you have to have experienced it

Masterclass Savanna RCP : un nez résolument ouvert sur le herr (12%), mais très atténué par le trad fut de moscatel. C’est très bon, très gourmand sur les fruits et ça reste doux. Fraise, raisins, fruits jaunes, épices et boisé s’entremêlent. Une très belle sortie, au dessus du premier Absolu 2023.

On the nose: Lovely overripe fruits like grapes and strawberry. Little bit of ester. Cognac notes. Woody notes. Hints of caramel notes. Taste:Woody and cognac notes upfront but I get more spices like allspice and roasted notes on the taste. Hints of grapes and strawberries. The alcohol is integrated very well. Finish: Finish is long and surprisingly rich. Woody, red fruits, roasted, nutty and hints of dark chocolate in there. Ok, taste was little bit of a let down for me after the nose, but the finish did save a lot for me. The more is sip this, the more im starting to like it. This is a real step up from L'Absolu 2023.

Dégustation d'un sample de 3cl. 👃 Belle combinaison de barrique de Cognac (raisins secs, épices) et de fruits rouges surmûris (fameuse note de fraise). Le boisé est bien présent et structure l'assemblage. Un peu de fumée, d'olive verte salée, de vernis. Légers esters qui dynamisent ce nez. 😋 Oh ! Petit kick de l'alcool quand-même. Intensité du Herr qui donne du peps à ce joli blend. Fruits rouges (fraises et cerises aigres à l'eau de vie), quelque chose sur l'essence de rose. Le boisé toujours présent. ⛳ Chaude, épicée, tannique, cuir, agrumes, amertume prononcée. 💡 Un assemblage qui montre tout le talent du maître de chai. L'esprit Savanna est explicite ici. Dommage qu'il soit si cher.

Notes from Whisky Live Paris 2024 — to be reviewed and explored further. Fresh, raisins, cognac of course (but no port, unlike in 2023), with beautiful wood notes. Another very successful absolute that I would have loved to own (even if I prefer 2023), but the price is a little too steep at the moment. A superb welcome at the stand with Cécile, Nadia, and of course Samuel P. A top-notch stand.

Sehr interessanter Rum: im Antrunk kommt zunächst der HERR durch mit seinen künstlichen Fruchtnoten und Estern. Im Abgang dann bitter, dunkle Noten, holzig, eher die Richtung Guyana. Nichts fürs easy Sipping. Anstrengend, aber lohnenswert.

Ein interessanter Rum. Die Nase gefällt mir sehr gut, da es hier viel zu entdecken gibt. Savanna typische Noten. Am Gaumen dann viel Fasseinfluss. Trocken und würzig. Hier passiert leider nicht mehr so viel. Nicht adstringend. Ein schöner Rum aber 200€ würde ich dafür nicht zahlen wollen.

Die Nase aus Leichtmetall und hat vielleicht etwas von Cognac. Auch am Gaumen lässt mich die Cognac note nicht los. Vielleicht in einer Komposition mit Erdbeeren. Im Abgang relativ angenehm. Leckerer Tropfen.

So here I am very pleasantly surprised. For me it is both in aroma and taste spicy (probably slightly peppery) strawberries. Lovely sweetness and also aromaticity (there is one grand aroma in a blend of 5 casks). Taste-wise it is definitely more appealing to me than its green predecessor.

V porovnání s verzí 2025 pro mě o kousek slabší, zejména ve vůni, ale za ochutnání přesto stojí. Jahoda a dřevo vystupují dopředu spolu s kořením, v chuti a dochuti jsou poměrně výrazné třísloviny. Slušně integrovaný alkohol.
