Sipped neat with a little air, this Belize opens on coconut, dark chocolate, vanilla and toffee, with oak and baking spice underneath. At 66.1% the heat needs time, and most find it well tucked in for the strength. It leans sweet and a touch dark; a few tasters wanted more complexity from 15 years. Debut of Wolfgang Klotz as an independent bottler. A typical Belize? It arrives with a lot of steam, at least on the nose, and needs time to catch its breath. At first, it is strongly reminiscent of the almost classic FRC from 2006, with typical coconut, vanilla and oak, plus more and more sweet fruit notes. Surprisingly sweet on the palate, the brute strength is definitely there but is well balanced by the sweetness and makes this rum extremely drinkable.

Der 2008er Jahrgang von Travellers ist bislang stark. Wie die Abfüllung vom Rumclub eine tolle Abfüllung. Im direkten Vergleich war der RC vielleicht minimal besser ausbalanciert. Aber für mich sind da keine großen Unterschiede. Außer im Preis. Da gewinnt halt der RC im direkten Vergleich halt bei ansonsten ähnlicher Qualität.

Erinnert mich direkt an den Rumclub Belize aus dem selben Jahr. Auch hier an der Nase direkt jede Menge Gewürze, besonders Backgewürze. Etwas Wein, Pflaume, Zartbitterschokolade, leicht künstlich wirkend, etwas Kokosnuss, relativ süß. Am Gaumen ist vieles wiederzufinden was die Nase angekündigt hat. ABV empfinde ich als gut eingebunden. Für mich ein sehr guter Belize. Ein direkter Vergleich mit dem Rumclub muss nochmal her :)

Schöne Nase. Man erahnt schon kernigkeit. Geschmacklich wirklich lecker. Definitiv ein Rum mit Kanten ohne aber zu überfordern. Bleibt auch schön lange stehen. Tolle Arbeit!

Sehr leckerer Belize, wenn auch keine Offenbarung in Sachen Komplexität. Der 2007er Spirit Gallery bringt hier mehr mit. Flüssiger Cookie mit Milchschokoladen Stückchen, Kokoschips und viel Toffee und Karamell. Alkohol ist gut integriert und sehr gefällig, aber der Abgang ist schon wirklich sehr kurz.

Als Belize Liebhaber wurde ich hier etwas enttäuscht. Der klassische Ramen vom Geruch und Geschmack passt schon. Doch bei 15 Jahren und 66,1% sollte deutlich mehr Komplexität an Aromen und viel mehr im Abgang drin sein. Als erste Abfüllung ok aber noch viel Luft nach oben. Bei den Gegebeheiten muss mehr kommen. Für mich leider etwas zu schwach. Trotz der ganzen Kritik ist dieser sehr gut genießbar.

Klassisches Belize-Profil mit reichlich Vanillezucker, Toffee, Kokosnuss, Eichenholz und Gewürze - zunächst ist das Aromenspektrum sehr rund, am Gaumen und im Abgang wird es aber zunehmend würzig-herber. Auch der hohe Alkoholgehalt dürfte hier eine Rolle spielen. Insgesamt ein stimmiges Release, dem in meinen Augen einzig etwas die finale Raffinesse fehlt.
