This dram pleasantly surprised me. The 12 years of aging bring a nice balance of vanilla, caramel, and subtle wood notes without any one component dominating. I especially liked how smooth and rounded it feels on the palate – a harmonious, slightly sweet character with a warm, long finish with a light citrus note. It's solid, very approachable, and shows enough depth to satisfy both newcomers and experienced sippers. It makes you want more.

Another great one from R.L. Seale and Foursquare. The nose is woody and fruity with an aroma of vanilla. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s round, woody, spicy and fruity with flavors of tropical fruits, vanilla and oak.

Foursquare makes high quality rum with flavor so mild it's easily overwhelmed by cask wood. The whole Doorly's line of rums suffers from too much wood at every age, which is really disappointing. I'm done with Doorly's. I won't rebuy.

Very nice fruity foursquare! Very dry, lots of wood but still a relaxed, uncomplicated sipping rum at a fair price that is even better in cocktails like corn n oil, Bermuda yacht club & co. But the doorly 14 is definitely a good bit better imho.

Nice masterclass at the Trou à Rhum in Arras. Nose: coconut clearly Taste: sweet spices, licorice, a little cherry syrup amid caramel and light woods. Finish: sugar, choco, a few distant spices, but above all, it's very/too short. Comments: can you really still drink a Doorly's when you've got a Foursquare at home? no.

I was having a big expectations which were not fulfilled. Don't get me wrong this is great rum but hearing about how awesome it is all the time, I was expecting more. Now, onto the nose- vanilla, lot's of wood; oak to be precise. Palate- Oily, round sweetness of vanilla and oak barrel with slight hint of banana at the end and a bit of spiciness. Finish is medium long. Really nice rum if you have a chance to buy it around 30€. I bought mine for 28 for which I consider it an excelent rum for such price. I will need to revisit the review and the rating in the future. Revisiting: this time I sense fruitiness overall underlined with sour taste of green apple. Pulling it down from 74 to 70. Definitely over-rated for me. Highlight is the mid-long finish.

This was my first step into the world of Barbados and Foursquare together with the 14 year old. Find this super as a starter. Drink this often and like times in between. Typical Foursquare, this one. I was surprised by the intensity in taste for 40%, not tasting watered down at all. The Rum is good oin the regard, that it has no obvious flaws, but is also not much exiting. Good value for money, and if one does not want to focus attention on the drink. I believe it's successor is possibly a little bit better.

Doorly's 12 year old rum comes from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados. A rum aged for 12 years, 90% in bourbon barrels, the rest in Madeira. Unflavored and unsweetened, it is dry and woody. It is pleasant and easy to drink without being exceptional.

Very nice entry level Foursquare for beginners. You get the classic flavour profile at a good price. If you like this, it might be worth buying something from the ECS series, as these releases offer a lot more. But don't overpay for crazy secondairy prices!

It has a classic Foursquare Barbadian nose, with toffee and brown sugar combined with chocolate notes. Sipped it is reasonably balanced in terms of alcohol but not as integrated as the ECS series. Some baking spice, vanilla, and oak on the mouth with a long and peppery finish ending in a nice light toffee. I would be happy to use this as a cocktail or mixing rum but as a sipper there are others I prefer even at the very reasonable price point

The smell is mostly dried fruit and alcohol, with some artificial Vanilla. A little off-putting. The taste is much better. Nice balance between dried dark fruits, vanilla, oak, spice, and some of the boozy molasses flavor. The alcohol and molasses lingers on the finish

For me already too much influence from the cask aging. Could be more fresh and fruity to balanced the notes from the wood. Feels a bit tired to me. Nevertheless a solid rum considering the price point.

One of my go-to sippers and my first proper rum. Nose is heavy on brown sugar. Taste is fruity, good compliment to the sweetness. Mild, smooth finish with little to no burn. Great rum to keep stocked at a fantastic price.

A classic, Doorly’s 12 has a pleasant oaky nose with subtle notes of dried fruits and spices. The palate is similar, with moderate woody base notes complimented by caramel, dry fruits, and warm spices. The finish is smooth and warm, moderate in length.

Whenever you taste foursqare you have got to appreciate transparency and education mission Richard Seal has. The rum is exactly what it says on the tin. Bayan aged rum, where natural sweetness plays with heavy barrel notes. Very good!

In der Nase zunächst etwas alkoholisch/ wenig rund. Ich schmecke Holzfass, Vanille, getrocknete Feige, Leder und eine schwache Fruchtigkeit im Abgang. Sehr gefällig und sicher auch für Neulinge geeignet. Ich mag den Aspekt, dass man bei der Gestaltung von Etikett und Box älterer Doorly‘s auf seltene und bedrohte Vogelarten (Aras) zurückgegriffen hat.

For the price, it’s harder to find a better Barbados rum. Not too expensive to mix, but stands up as a sipper. Very flavorful, but could definitely use a bump up in proof. But I guess that’s what the ECS collection is for.
