Zéro Nine Spirits ZN09 Pure Cane Juice 2023
Reduced to 50%, this drinks fresh and grassy neat — sugarcane up front, floral and herbal notes, then a green, almost medicinal edge that some love and others find a touch much. The palate turns oily and thick, with mango, banana and a peppery bite. A few tasters caught faint Islay peat and glue; most just find it a lively young agricole. Does well in cola too.

Œil légèrement teinté de jaune en trahissant un passage par le charbon. Nez très gourmand plein de sucres, . Peut-être effectivement un peu de miel. Bouche franche sur l’alcool et ester, mais dégusté à jeun et sevré de 5 semaines d’abstinence donc palais certainement trop sensible, à déguster un autre moment.

Une belle surprise pour ce blanc légèrement vieilli en fût ayant contenu du whisky d'Islay. La tourbe est bien présente et apporte beaucoup d'originalité. J'aime beaucoup !

Dès l’ouverture, l’influence jamaïcaine se fait ressentir. De légers fruits exotiques, une pointe fraiche de litchi, et des notes assez vertes. Après une longue aération, une pointe de banane, et un fond de goyave se cachent derrière des notes végétales et médicinales assez puissantes – un peu trop peut être, le premier nez était plus charmeur. En bouche, c’est l’agricole qui domine, la canne est la, ultra grasse. Les notes très végétales, florales se mêlent à une bouche onctueuse, avec en fond (faut aller le chercher) de la banane & de la mangue. L’alcool est un poil mordant, une petite chauffe due aux légers épices (ou poivre) s’installe sur l’avant du palais. En jouant plus longuement, de légères notes de raisin, et de chocolat au lait apparaissent, avec de la muscade peut être ? faut vraiment que je bosse sur les épices, je suis à la rue. Finale moyenne, entre canne, notes végétales, médicinales, et la banane verte. Le fond de verre vide est carrément médicinal quand à lui.

The nose needs time to open up. Not very expressive, it nevertheless reveals several things: cane first, a floral and herbaceous side, fruit. Glue or varnish perhaps. On the palate, the reduction is appreciable. Cane, grass and citrus. Not very pleasant bitterness. Very little sweetness. Astringent. Peppery. Biting alcohol. Not sure this is zn09's most successful test.
